In 2 years of my ASU life, I mostly focused on the academic success. As an international student, the academic success was a challenging part. At the first time, I experienced many difficulties, such as the language barrier, a lack of knowledge, etc. However, I did not give up. I worked hard to overcome my difficulties, and when I needed, I actively asked for help to professors, advisors, and other students. I made many friends and great relationships here. As a result, I think all my hard work paid off through my grades. I am currently keeping my 4.0 cumulative GPA. This was just not a numbered grade for me. I’ve got the confidence that I can have the successful achievement if I do my best. This was biggest accomplishment what I accomplished
Upon graduation, it is my goal to be a distinguished graduate and maintain my 4.0 GPA. When I completed my freshman year, I was unhappy with my GPA, but had the motivation to raise it nearly three points higher the following year. Doing well in school has not only come to me because I know it is necessary in order to have a great future, but it is also used to challenge me. Having this challenge allows me to complete my work on time and award myself with the feeling that I know I did exceptional on an assignment.
Throughout my life, I have worked hard to do well in school and get good grades. I am proud with what I have achieved, but I am still driven to try and do better. As of right now, I have a cumulative GPA of 3.98. I try to get decent grades not only to please my parents and teachers but to please myself and the colleges I plan on applying to next school year.
During my time at Union County College I have been faced with a lot of difficulties. I’ve struggled along the way but one thing I do believe is that I have the power to do better. My GPA has been affected by my personal mistakes. In my past semesters I have let my job take over my life rather than let school be most important. I have also let my personal family problems affect my work ethic. But through my fall 2014, it was most difficult because of March 2014 I lost my father through an unexpected heart attack. Throughout my fall semester I did struggle and cope with my father not being here anymore. I believed that I wasn’t focused enough because I used fall semester as a time to occupy myself rather that time out to deal with my father’s
Over the past three years I have managed to maintain a solid 3.46 grade point average (GPA) over the past 6 semesters, not including two summer semesters as well. I kept this GPA while working, at some points, 2 jobs and while taking classes and working full time every summer. I’ve worked hard to maintain this GPA while putting myself through school because I want to be not only the first person in my family to earn a Bachelor’s degree, but also the first person in my family to earn a Master’s.
Ending my freshman year with a cumulative GPA of 3.875 and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.895 so far my sophomore year, I have not only proven to my teachers, but also to myself that regardless of how hard the subject may be, I am always willing to do what it takes. I can’t say that all my classes are easy, because they are not. I make sure I stay after school and ask my teachers for extra help. As a sophomore, we have tests that we are encouraged to pass at the end of the year such as PARCC for English 10, Algebra II, Government HSA, and the AP Government exam. I consistently ask for all the help I need until the day of my tests and even practice/study on my own.
My current GPA is a 3.9/4.0. This is something that I have worked tremendously hard for through late nights of studying, focus, determination, and not to mention being substantially younger than most students in my major. I have always strived to give a 110% effort into all of my academic endeavors. My most effective strategy to date is to write things down. I, like many others, am a successful visual learner. Physically writing things down on paper is the most efficient way for me to stay on top of what needs to be done. Another prominent strategy that contributes to my success is to avoid procrastination. When I have a deadline that needs to be met, I find that setting smaller deadlines for myself in advance is my best tactic. In return, all of the work does not pile up the night before the assignment is due. An additional strategy that I continually use, is keeping my goals close sight. I am continually making smart choices that will benefit me the near future. My top strategy would be effective communication. To communicate effectively with others is essential for succeeding at anything in life. With three years of undergraduate studies in a nationally-accredited program, 100+ hours clinical observation through a Directed Individual study, a mission trip, and at FSU’s speech and hearing clinic, and personal experience on my behalf, I believe that I have
First, my academic grades in every class of mine is an A or A+, and this has been the case throughout my entire academic career. English and Language Arts may not be my forte, however, with hard work and perseverance, any obstacle in my way can be overcome. My goal has always been and always will be to complete my assignments and work with perfection and efficiency. This means that all my work
My SAT scores aren’t the best because I lacked motivation to learn in high school and barely studied before taking the test. However, after graduating from high school, I stopped playing video games, which took a big part of my time, and motivated myself to become a life-long learner and improve every day. For example, during my first year at IU, I worked hard to be involved in campus organizations such as the Toastmasters Club and the Kelley Student Government while also working hard to get a 3.8 GPA. As a result of this effort, I got accepted into the Kelley School and the Business Honors Program. After transitioning from an average student in high school to a high achiever in college, I realized that any goal is achievable if one if willing
As it is easily visible with the increasing enrolment of international students in Canadian institutions, internationalization has become one of the key aspects of higher education in developing its intellectual property, more mainly due to political and economic reasons (Altbach & Knight, 2007). Canada is perceived to be “one of the most trusted in the world” as a destination of choice with its high-quality education in a welcoming multicultural environment (Global Affairs Canada, 2014). A study conducted by Canadian Bureau for International Education presents that in Canada, the number of international students pursuing post-secondary studies reached 263,855 from 187 nations in 2015 all around the world (2016, p. 15). In
In high school, my grade point average stayed at a 3.8 up until graduation where it jumped up to a 4.02 due to the college courses I had taken. My GPA gave me the opportunity to be a part of Anchor Club in high school. Anchor Club is a group of students with a 3.5 GPA or above. The requirements to stay in Anchor club not only included maintaining a high GPA, but also turning in eight to ten hours of community service a month. With my GPA being a 4.02, I had the choice of graduating with Special Distinctions or Honors. I choose Honors because it was the one to be prouder of out of the two options. Within my two years at a Community College, I have been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA. I was a member of Phi Thetta Kappa. Being a member opened the opportunity to be a
International students face many different challenges when studying abroad. This is due to many factors. First, they are living in a country very far away from their own. The country they are studying at has a very different way of life than theirs. Further more, the laws in that country are much different than the laws in their own country. Due to that they face a lot of problems trying to adapt to this new culture. Me personally as an international student in the US studying at ASU, have faced three particularly difficult challenges that I was able to overcome through time. In this essay I will explain how international students can overcome tough challenges and situations.
Every year there are around 435,000 international students enrolled in universities around the UK (UKCISA). Studying abroad for a lot of these students is a privilege, however it can be a stressful experience for various reasons. There are plenty of challenges, other than language barrier, that these students face, like major culture shock, homesickness, and financial difficulties.
How many of you guys study well in the American University? Maybe some of you have problem in your academic study? To be a successful International student in the American University, International students should work hard and go to the student center of school and go to the writing center in order to find tutors for help. Also they can take lots of student’s activities in school. For most of International students, taking the activities in school, including language communication or club activities, will give then chances to communicate with local people and will give them chance to develop their English skills.
In conclusion, Indian students are a strong presence in USA. American higher education has been a light for international students around the world. However, global competition for international students is growing. The U.S. government should work to support colleges and universities as they continue to increase their international enrollment. International students are either most comfortable among others students from their cultural/regional background, or among other international students. That may be influencing the selection of location is fear and misperception. Many students featured in study identified the downtown location as
“America preaches integration, but practices segregation” (Malcolm X). I open with this meditative quote from Malcolm X because it is the very foundation that this essay sits on. To explain, when international students are applying for colleges, guidance counselors tend to highlight opportunities in the US. This is solely because the universities in America seem promising. They know how to write compelling statistical data on diversity in their “About Us” sections and they have the most convincing people in their administration offices for recruiting. Therefore, foreigners feel comfortable to travel miles to live in an unknown territory because of promises made by deceitful Americans.
