Integrity becomes an immensely crucial trait when playing team sport, especially in football where you must use this trait as an example for your teammates. In my opinion, Gerry Bertier from “Remember the Titans” shows a superior example of integrity. Nevertheless, he demonstrated integrity when he was not treating his Negro teammates as inferiors, but rather as brothers and equally created individuals. Another reason of why I chose Gerry for integrity was for the fact that he put aside his paralyzed body and encouraged his team without being jealous. The fact that you can go in depth with Gerry Bertier setting an excellent example of what integrity is, which is what truly makes him an outstanding character. All in all, Gerry exhibited excellent …show more content…
Although, this may appear as an attitude characteristic, it actually fits into integrity more than you think because he knew in his mind that complaining about how he genuinely felt about being paralyzed would only make his teammates feel bad for him. If I were to ever face what Gerry had to experience, I would not cope with it as well as Gerry. Sometimes all you want to do when you get injured is to cry and have someone that will listen to your complaints, but Gerry knew that doing so would only make the situation for him and his teammates unpropitious. As you can see, Gerry has many characteristics of integrity throughout The Titans Return even in parts that we might not realize. Conversely, he sets an example of integrity for all to see and follow in all parts of the movie in some shape or form, which is an amazing characteristic to always have and show. Everything would be much different if he were to not show integrity to his teammates. Overall, his team wouldn’t have been a stable team if it weren’t for his impeccable example of using internal morals for the purpose of composing ethical
Integrity is a crucial trait when playing team sport, especially in football where you can only win if your team has your back. A character who shows a superior example of integrity in the inspirational movie “Remember the Titans” is Gerry Bertier. This character stands out to me as a character with integrity because even though he was white, he still stood up for his black teammates despite how people tried to make him feel like an outcast. Gerry’s also shows an exemplary example of a integrity when he put aside his paralyzed body and encouraged his team without being jealous. Gerry Bertier sets an excellent example of what a integrity should look like even when people tried to push him away from what he believed in and when his body was
If you have integrity, it means you can be trusted and be honest. “‘You got anything to tell me about their defense?’ ‘Yeah. They play it well.’” (140). This shows that Brett demonstrates integrity because he could have told Ben how his old team played. Brett had transferred to a new school because his football team, the Saxons, had bullied him. The Tigers would have an advantage over the Saxons because Brett told them their tactics. However, Brett knows it’s not right to tell his teammates and cheat. In short, Brett shows integrity, no matter what the circumstances
He had integrity because he was always honest and barely ever told lies. He had respect because he never was rude to people and he cared for everyone. He used disciplined when he saved the people from the burning plane because he had to have self control to do his best or he would have probably panicked and not saved anyone.
Integrity is to stand true to yourself, your morals, and not compromise it because some officials hundreds of years ago imposed standards about what is right and wrong. Its not about the fame but for your own personal satisfaction and humanity that despite all odds you see the truth in the nonsense of discrimination and hatred for ways that are so called “not right”. Jane Eyre and Caitlyn Jenner embody integrity for they didn't go along with “normality”. In the 18 century most women desired love and wealth but Jane Eyre didn’t care about fitting in society it just so happens that she falls for a man like that. Bruce Jenner was once viewed as the best athlete in the world. Recently Jenner revealed that he was transgender. For the first time
The Water Park episode of Malcolm in the Middle contains a few scenes that calls integrity in to question. My personal definition of integrity, when it defines people, is the ability to be truthful, maintain honesty, and do the right thing even when the wrong thing would be easy to do or acceptable by the general populace. Just because something can be done does not mean that it is the right thing for that particular circumstance. Hal and Lois have serious integrity issues.
Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non-literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, ‘Remember The Titans’ (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the audience's response.
Integrity is the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity regards internal consistency as a virtue. One may judge that others “have integrity” to the extent that they act according to the values, beliefs and principles they clam to hold. As Williams explains, the principal of utility undermines personal
Integrity is defined as following your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you. Having integrity means you are true to yourself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors you. When employees are asked what they want from leaders it is integrity. Qualities change across culture and time, but what people say they want most in American society is integrity. When people are asked to define integrity, the word they mention most frequently is honesty. The leader with integrity always tells the truth as he or she believes it to be. Think about the best leader you have ever had; she or he probably had integrity. First and foremost, people want a leader they can trust. Ask yourself whether you have a reputation for integrity. (Manning 6) Integrity can be broken down into sub components:
Personal integrity can be seen in both stories between the characters Tennessee's Partner and The Easterner. Tennessee's partner is integrid because he never left his friend behind, even after he had done him wrong. He was always there for Tennessee and never betrayed him. The Easterner shows his integrity when he tells the truth about Johnnie and feel guilty about the situation with the Swede; most people would have shrugged it off so that they did not have to deal with it but he chose to speak up. Both of these forms of integrity show the true moral values of each character, each example gives us a better idea of what it’s like to be
Integrity is having a standard of morals and ethics, and living by them. It is a willingness and ability to do the right thing even when it is hard. The story To Kill a Mockingbird is filled with integrity. For example, many of the people in Maycomb share a prejudiced sense of integrity when it comes to its racist views. However, it is Atticus Finch’s integrity throughout the novel that really embodies the idea of moral and ethical principles. He puts into action every moral idea that he supports. Atticus is a role model to not only his children, but to the whole town of Maycomb, and his integrity is a great part of what makes him such a good example. Integrity
C.S. Lewis defined integrity as doing the right thing when no one is looking. That has been one of my greatest lessons as a professional and as a small business owner.
A person of integrity does exactly what he says and says exactly what he means. There is no conflict between his thoughts and actions. His actions are consistent with the values he professes. According to Dr. William Manninger, A building without integrity may receive structural damage, or even collapse, in a storm. Similarly, people without integrity are blown about by the winds of misfortune and destroyed by catastrophes, for they lack the firmness, solidity, and strength of character to weather any storm. This means that integrity is one of the six essential qualities that are the key to success.
Integrity: The first and most important trait of a leader. Integrity gives a leader validity to always do the right thing. I have a deeper meaning stemming from my family that makes it crucial that I keep integrity first if I desire others to emulate my actions.
A person with integrity is humble – He is more concerned about what is right than about being right. He recognizes principle and puts it ahead of self.
Integrity is an essential character quality that defines an effective leader. Integrity is a unifying element; it means more than telling the truth. Integrity is concerned with right and wrong, and adherence to a set of values (Satterlee, 2013, p. 7). In that, integrity speaks on the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles – moral uprightness. A resilient leader should hold steady to their morals when faced with an ethical dilemma. “Leader integrity matters because it plays a significant role in the decision process used by followers when determining who they will follow, who they will trust, to whom they will be loyal and committed, and ultimately for whom they will perform” (Moorman & Grover, 2009, p.107). A leader’s integrity goes beyond their personal character make-up, subordinates will feel a sense of connection to a leader who acts with
