I got started in fourth grade when I heard about it on the announcements. I thought it would be fun to try. I tried it and didn’t like it, but I wanted to try again in seventh grade because I thought I would like it more. I did, and I fell in love with it.
What is the most exciting moment you’ve had in your wrestling career?

I am most looking forward to just the camaraderie we have as a team and hopefully being even better than last year
Because my sophomore year of wrestling was over too i decided to do a lot of offseason wrestling. I really was able to fall in love with the sport and continue to get better and better. At the beginning of my junior year i was super
The best thing that ever happened to me is when my baseball team beat Brandon Valley for the first place position in regionals. Brandon Valley was our rivals and we hated each other for not really any reason. We knew at the start of the game that winning this would put us in first place. We had lost to Brandon Valley twice before but they were beatable. It was a home game near the end of July and sunny. The conditions were great for baseball. Our nerves were high and waiting for the game to start seemed like an eternity.
My team won 3 out of 4 hockey games in my hockey tournament. It was the championship game for a banner and a medal. We were playing the Ice Dogs who we had originally beaten 3-1. Over the summer we did so much dry land on the track and my dad said it will all pay off today. I stepped on the ice for warm ups and the ice felt smooth under my skates. I was prepared for a hard hockey game.
One of the proudest moments in my life is when I hit a homerun that won the game for my baseball team. I just completed the sixth grade and was looking forward to baseball season with my friends that summer. I was so happy we were all on the same team, the Red Wings. I was playing second base, and for the first time, I felt confident about my position. I didn’t let a ball get past me. I was catching and throwing that ball like a pro. In addition, I was hitting balls like never before, and scoring runs for the team. For the first time since T ball I felt like a real star!
When I qualified for the AAU State wrestling tournament I never thought I would have done so well. Being in 8th grade and it being my last year to go to AAU State I put in the hard work and qualified for AAU State and I was overjoyed with happiness. For the next 2 weeks, I practice my heart out trying to get better for AAU. The day that wrestling starts the older group doesn’t wrestle till 4, so we went to the mall till 12 then Wells Fargo. The team started to warm up around 3:30 and I was one the first matches up. I won my first match with a pin and my second with the 11-3 win. My third match was against the kid that won the tournament and I lost to him 2-5.
A: When you are in my position, you get to travel with the football team so I must say the most memorable moment of my career was being able to watch the Hurricanes win a National Championship at the Rose Bowl.
My most favorite sport is wrestling. It is one of the hardest and greatest sports out there. It strengthens athletes while also building their character. When I first started wrestling in high school, I wasn’t the strongest, fastest, or toughest wrestler on the team. With the help and guidance of my coaches and teammates, I was able to become one of the top wrestlers at my high school. Through my high school career, I have had some impressive comeback wins, was voted as team captain my junior and senior year, hold school records, and qualified for the state tournament my senior year. After graduating high school I still wanted to continue my wrestling career. I am currently wrestling for the Wayne State Wrestling Club and plan to wrestle for
The team wasn’t too great, we won about as many times as we lost, but that was fine. I struggled beyond belief, leading the team in strikeouts at the plate. One night we were in a tied up game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. We managed to get a runner to third, but with two outs I couldn’t bunt. Once I had watched the first two pitches go by for strikes I knew I had to be looking to swing and come through. I had a feeling that everyone assumed I was about to strike out once again. But once I saw the pitch leave the pitcher’s hand, I knew it was all mine and connected on a line drive to left-center field. Hearing all of my teammates and the parents yell for me felt amazing. The ball landed landed deep in the outfield and as soon as I reached first base I realized I has just hit my first walk-off ever as the run crossed home to score the winning run. Soon my teammates ran out to bash my helmet and congratulate me on my feat. I’ll always carry that moment as my favorite sports memory of all time and I will never forget
A time you felt triumphant with an accomplishment: When we won our first game against Mid Prairie senior year after going 0-9 the previous year.
The different amazing opponents we versed. The Oklahoma abundance we won against. One of the other team's player hit a homerun like it was a breeze thru the wind. We had beat one of the teams we lost too. One of the other team's pitcher got injured.
In wrestling there is no fighting. there is only takedowns and grappling. its a sport that combines technique, strength, cardio and strategy.
Ever since I was eight years old I have been wrestling all year, every year, almost daily. I never thought that my wrestling career would extend past junior high or even into high school. I started doing pretty good at tournaments and practices so I thought I might actually make it in high school and become a successful wrestler. Before I graduated from junior high, I had decided that the high school that I was going to be attending didn't have the best wrestling program so I moved to another school nearby which had a renowned wrestling program called Washington Community High School in Illinois. It was a tough decision, but I eventually told my parents that I wanted to move to Washington in order to keep wrestling. They agreed surprisingly and that's when the journey began.
After Freshman year of highschool I started to slowly drop sport after to sport to help me gain time in the off season to make up for all the lost time in previous years. By doing so this helped me engage in more hours of off season workouts and tournaments. While doing so I very slowly started to realize that if I continued working hard and persevering through harder practices and harder workouts, that it wasn't too late to catch my opponents. That i would be able to be better than my opponents not only in skill level, but overall shape and conditioning. That wrestling was not about being the strongest, or most athletic in the room.
The football season had just ended in Orem Utah and my coach was an assistant wrestling coach. People had been telling me things about wrestling the whole football season to the point where I actually considered it. I went to open mats one day and decided that I was going to wrestle. There were two other first year freshmen in my weight class and I beat both of them. In my first year of wrestling I was already varsity. The whole year I got pounded on over and over again by kids who had been wrestling for years. I kind of just accepted the fact that I was going to lose most of my matches. Our very last dual of the season was against Orem High School who were our mortal enemies. The dual started off at the 120 pound weight class. Me being in the 113 pound weight class meant I would be the last one to wrestle. The dual was incredibly close and by the time I was up Orem was winning the dual by one point. My coach told me to go out there and keep it simple. I went out, took him down, and pinned him in just fourteen seconds. The crowd exploded. Everybody started chanting my name. The captains picked me up and put me on their shoulders as they carried me around the gym. This event was important to my life because it gave me confidence that I needed, it kept me wrestling because I was on the verge of quitting, and it was a moment that I’ll never forget my entire life.
It was 6:00 pm, February 10th, 2016. A freshman had just won his last match, crowning himself Arrowhead League Champion. I was that freshman, and that day I realized wrestling was more than just a sport, it was a way of life.
