Information Literacy Standards

Information literacy is said to be the foundation of the learning process. Unfortunately, as the Internet expands to meet the demand for easy accessible information, people are abandoning the literacy component by not seeking to understand the importance of reliable information to the learning process itself. The objective of this paper is to explore how the scholar, practitioner, leader model is influenced by information literacy, examine the responsibility of each, and provide alternate solutions to meet the challenges.

Information Literacy is, in my opinion, A series of information that individuals can find, evaluate and used aren't. For example, whenever you have given a research paper to write, you can directly go to a different website and research on the topic was given. Then you will be able to identify and summarize the most effective information than to use all the provided details given. In today society challenges students may face numerous of challenges of information literacy due to the fact that you can basically find anything you need on the internet without even trying to figure it out on your own. In this case, students are reliable on the internet for the answer and do not take the time out to study or spend time on understanding the lesson

In order to practice as a nurse informatics or NI specialist, one must know and understand the standard to which he or she is held. The purpose and function of scopes and standards of practice for nursing informatics is to provide an overview of the specialty, assist future specialists understand their scope of practice, and practice at a competent level to guide and support nursing care. The scopes and standards of practice further provides an insight into the foundation of clinical decision making processes and cognitive concepts as the nurse moves data to wisdom in the clinical setting. As a NI specialist, the informatics nurse follows the concepts, scopes and standards of practice to guide and define their profession. This paper will further discuss the principles that guides nurse informatics specialist, the scope and standards of practice, professional performance, functional areas for nurse informatics, competencies, evolution, progress, and the future the specialty.

Efficient administrators must make certain their schools are in compliance with district, state, and federal educational guidelines. These statutes include identifying and delivering specified instructional lessons for students who qualify for services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the students who qualify for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Academic leaders who ensure compliance among these regulations and educate themselves on the appropriate instructional practices, will properly assist their teachers and students in finding academic success.

It is therefore up to the teacher to find ways of intervention to teach and cater to those students needs. because the standards do not regard the students it is setting a tone for it to be highly unlikely that teachers will seek to support these students. the implications of literacy means that the literacy requirement is once again not black and white, different students may or may not met all the standards and they will likely not reach them at the same time. thus i feel that the definition of literacy should reflect that and isn't so clearly defined or can be clearly evaluated because of this. it also means that the these students will need different ways or additional resources when learning and may have to showcase mastery in a different way. it goes to show that literacy is subjective. this definition indicated that all student need to be literate by mastering these specific things and that includes english language learners. it offers no guidance for educators of diverse learners. it's a one size fits all kind of policy that leaves these students out. are there alternative testing options?how do the standards play out in the curriculum would more clearly depict the implications. if you need to learn all these things to be successful as the next grade then most likely

It also ensures that teachers understand the need for standard based teaching in ESOL classrooms. It also presses the importance standard based reading materials for different level ESOL students in an effort to build on their written and spoken english. This standard also ensures that teachers understand the need for ESOL students to be exposed to different types of writing activities in the classroom as well as the need for technological assistance in the classroom. Finally it ensures that teachers provide the necessary instruction to help the ESOL student’s communication and vocabulary

ISLLC standards are organized by knowledge, disposition and performances. The knowledge components are those areas of knowledge that are specific to the standards. The disposition is what the administrator believes in, values, and conveys their commitment to the respective standard. The performances are the processes that the administrator engages and ensures. Both standards address six essential areas to effective leadership, the CEC standards require a knowledge base that is much more specific to that required by special education administrators, while the ISLLC standards appear more generic.

I am working with my LIS next week on our SRCL literacy plans for next year and I have a few questions. I know that we spoke about some of these items throughout the year but I just wanted to make sure that what I am thinking is correct. Please see the attached form to refer to the assurance item.

Summary: According to Viele (2012), she states that when it comes to information literacy, there seems to be an abundance of definitions. The most concise and all-encompassing meaning is that information fluency is a set of skills necessitating individuals to be able to distinguish when and what actual information is needed. The author states that an individual should be capable to effectively locate, evaluate, and use the needed information in making informed decisions that are invaluable throughout life. In any situation whether it be preparing a presentation for class, a poster, or writing a report, these steps should be completed in an ethical manner. In the article, the author breaks down each of the information fluency skills in component parts. She also provides explanations of how to do each with online tutorials links, helpful websites, and examples for reference of good places to start when making sure that each skill is preformed effectively.

This is to inform you that I read the STLC101 syllabus, and I understood that this course is about the critical theories of learning and how it will help us in the future. The syllabus was direct and clear to the student. It mentioned all the part that the students need to know such as the grading, assignments and the final exam. However, there is something not clear which is the “Americans with Disabilities Act Statement”. I would like you to clarify this point for me and give me a tips to get a high marks in this course. Upon reading our topic my first thoughts were losing credibility and the loss of a career/job. In that instance I looked into the story of Brian Williams the lead anchor for NBC Nightly News, who embellished statements “during public appearances” and “on late night programs” (Poniewozki, 2015). Williams’ dismissal from the program due to his actions increased the national view on scholarly integrity and relativity.

The evaluation of information strategies consists of adopting useful communication strategies. This concept is done by collecting, analyzing, and evaluating information as a method of creating a message. Evaluating information strategies begins by determining the content and context of the message. After determining the content and the context of the message, the communicator can begin the preparation of the search questions. With the search questions, multiple points of view come into play. Different points of view produce different information sources. This is the time when the communicator should determine the appropriate information sources. Informal, journalistic, and library sources are all possible appropriate information sources.

The purpose research is to outline the importance of information literacy and recommendations for the future. Specifically, it argues for the importance of Information Literacy to individuals, business, and citizenship. It suggests opportunities to develop information literacy which addresses the information age in school.
