The period between 1877 and 1920 allowed for the possibility to expand government roles. Industrialization played a major role in the expansion of government, which occurred immediately in the aftermath of World War I. The increase of power directly impacted the lives of the American nation by both positive and negative means because it allowed for the development of more opportunities as well as passed selfish acts that negatively affected distinct groups of the population. The industrial era introduced a tremendous period of economic growth and the U.S gained and regained crucial markets. (Pettengill 1/22/18). In other terms, the result of the war, encouraged many immigrants to migrate to the United States in search of a better lifestyle …show more content…
The U.S became a colonial power. This negatively affected the native tribes, such as the Sioux when the Dawes Act was passed in 1887, making it legal for the government to buy any land they pleased. In this instance, the growth of government proved to be a poison to the natives who were forced to give up their land and way of life. The expansion of government not only targeted native tribes, but also singled out races of immigrants, such as the Chinese. In 1882, the government approved and passed the Chinese Exclusion Act, which stated that Chinese immigrants could only exist in China Towns, which were established for second class citizenships. (Pettengill, 1/31/18). This display of segregation demonstrated how the government had the power to divide the nation into sectors that could be regulated much easier. In doing so, the government was striping America’s offer of freedom to the immigrants that sought a better life in the new …show more content…
The Espionage act allowed for further expansion of the government, which directly threatened American freedom as the government began to intrude into the everyday lives of common citizens. (pettengill, 2/14/18). In addition to, the Sedition Act of 1918, was an even broader expansion of the espionage act. The sedition act guaranteed an arrest for sedition language, or speaking foul of the government in regards to having it be overthrown. This annulling turn of events did not favor the majority of U.S citizens because they were now under a corrupt and controlling, powerful government. The establishment of the 16th amendment gave rise to the conflicting power of the government as well because it established an income tax to help pay for the war. The 16th amendment could be seen as both a positive and negative addition. It allowed for the expenses of the war to be equally disbursed amongst its citizens, however, everyone was only seen as equal on paper, and many thought this decision was unfair as the government pressed it on its
America had a huge industrial revolution in the late 1800”s. Many changes happened to our great nation, which factored into this. The evidence clearly shows that advancements in new technology, a large wave of immigrants into our country and new views of our government, helped to promote America’s huge industrial growth from the period of 1860-1900.
Today, many of the day-to-day things we use are produced in a factory, but where did this advancement first appear? The answer is England, the nation in which the Industrial Revolution started. In the 1700’s, trade became more competitive, and everyone was looking for ways to dominate. This resulted from recent advances in technology which brought together nations, that previously had barely any contact. Due to economic and political changes, as well as interactions with the environment, England was able to excel in this field.
Many people in the working class and the economy have different views on the Second Industrial Revolution. Industrialization was the start of growing the economy through manufacturing and trade. It provided many jobs to the community and provided wealth for some; for others, it provided extreme poverty. Business owners such as tycoons, manipulate people, bribe people, and have large competition against their competitors. The Second Industrial Revolution negatively affected the political, social, and economic development of the United States during the 19th century because big business owners had control over everything including the government, led to the rise of monopolies, and had poor working conditions and environments.
Throughout the nineteenth century, the occurrence of the Second Industrial Revolutions assisted Europe into a new mechanical era, which allowed the inhabitants and cities of Europe to become modernized. Not only did the mechanization effect the people, but the adjustment of landscape for the European cities was required. With the augmenting amount factories and inhabitants of most European cities, there was a need for the metropolises to be redesigned. The main causes for the redesign of European cities was social, intellectual, and technological influences.
Beginning in the 17th century, the Industrial Revolution began in England. Industrialization became a foundation for countries to grow their economy as well as to advance their economies. After industrialization spread to the United States, the process spread to Russia and Japan in the 19th century; however, both countries derived different industrial influences from the West. In the 1800s, the present czar of Russia, Nicholas I, sought to expand Russian territory into the West, where the Ottoman Empire resided. Russia declared war on the western part of Europe but did not succeed since the English and French aided the Ottomans with their advanced weapons and technology.
As once said by the Once-ler, from the tale of The Lorax, “Complain all you want, it’s never, ever, ever, ever gonna stop.” This is a strong message of a children’s book but it can impact how every life spends each day. The growing economy is directly linked to industrialization, which is damaging the Earth more and more each day. Industrialization is the rapidly growing spread of business and industries within a region, and can be shown in practically any country on Earth. There are many environmental issues that industrialization has caused but one in particular is our overuse of scarce resources, therefore, nations have responded to this issue by using renewable resources.
Industrialization was a turning point in history for countries across the globe in the 18th century and the 19th century. In the time period of 1850 and 1914, most of Western Europe and America had already experienced impressive economic and lifestyle adjustments thanks to industrialization. In this time of constant innovation and change, Japan and Russia were both trying to industrialize like Western Europe and America did. The goal for both: to keep their own identity and culture in the process and ultimately have great success. Although both Japan and Russia had a similar goal with industrialization, and both were driven by a state-sponsored industry, the experiences for industrial workers in Russia were significantly worse than those in
Starting in the early 19th century, the United States underwent a process of industrialization. Two technological changes from this process of industrialization had a big impact on the lifestyles of Americans. Also,a transportation improvement made from this process of industrialization helped the United States expand towards West. The first of these technological changes from this process of industrialization is the textile mill, specifically the first textile mill opened in the U.S.This had an impact on the lifestyles of Americans by being the first invention to kickstart the U.S Industrial Revolution. This is because the Industrial Revolution first started in Britain and was brought to America by Samuel Slater who memorized some of the inventions.
The Industrial Revolution marks a major turning point in human history; almost every aspect of daily life was influenced in some way. After the Civil War, industrialization took on an unpredictable change of events that had a major affect on improving American life.
Between 1865 and 1920, industrialization caused significant changes in many people’s lives. First, the development of a new railroad system help settle the west and made it more accessible to people. Second, public transit systems in big cities provided an outlet from congested cities. Last, the discovery of a method for transmitting electricity helped to light up our daily lives. I feel that these are three of the most important changes in people’s lives caused by industrialization.
After the Civil War, the United States went through a period of rapid industrialization which affected the nation dramatically. Industrial growth, the spread of railroads, the rise of big businesses, and the appearance of labor unions during these decades created a modern industrial economy, and American workers and farmers faced new challenges in adapting to these changes.
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the 18th Century. This revolution started out in England, and spread throughout Europe and North America. Many technologic and agricultural advances were made during this time. Factories became the main source of production, rather than in home workers. This resulted in many people living in rural areas to move into industrialized cities, which was called rural to urban migration. The Industrial Revolution started in England due to its supply of natural resources, advanced technology and inventions, and political freedom.
Industrialization changed the Northern section of America in unbelievable ways. Americans would gain more jobs in factories, mills and banks, city life was booming, and both woman and men being employed in the cities. Money revenue would be generated and profited in mass production. Transportation became easier with the production of making parts or materials to build roads, steamboats, and railroads. Industrialization would trigger people to become invertors. Inventors seek new ideas of everyday use products to be easier or improve the machines to work faster and longer.
In the late 1800’s, a thing called Industrialization started to occur. Industrialization is when our economy went from an agriculture (farming) economy to an industrial (manufacturing) economy. There were many very important leaders in the industrialization movement in the late 1800’s. Andrew Carnegie, George Eastman, Henry Ford and J.D Rockefeller were all Captains of Industry and had a big impact on the industrialization movement and made it more positive than negative. Industrialization had a positive impact on American society. The Transcontinental Railroad, the steel industry and the automotive industry all had big advantages during this industrialization movement.
Industrialization, population growth, Thomas Jefferson defeated John Adams in the United States Presidential election of 1800, and slavery; these were the main events that shaped the early 1800’s. Economically, industrialization was truly born within the first thirty years of the 1800’s. Even though the Industrial Revolution started in 1790, the manufacturing process took much time to complete. Also, newly found means of transportation were rising up, such as steamboats and railroads, which made many people undeniably excited about the new technological advances (biography.com. 2014). Since there were many new ways for people to migrate to America from other counties, there was a drastic increase in population growth, territory growth, economic growth, even slavery, unfortunately, grew. This growth was due to the improvements in health care and less infant mortality. By the end of the 19th century there were significant improvements in sanitation and public health which would have benefited those in urban areas possibly more than those in agricultural communities (history.com. 2009). The beginning of the industrial revolution was marked by the introduction of machinery and technologies which could do the work of several people in a much shorter time, which meant increased production of clothes, food, and other important necessities (nps.gov. 2014).
