The Industrial Revolution European society has been transformed greatly by the Industrial Revolution. Some of the changes were positive there were also negative ones. The positive changes benefitted the wealthy and the working class, while the negative affected the poor. These changes definitely affected society whether they were negative or positive. Some positive changes were an increase of jobs and a steady economy, as well as growing businesses. While some negative changes were poor working and living conditions for factory workers. These changes altered European society in many different aspects. The Industrial Revolution had many positive changes such as an increase in jobs. This is illustrated in document 1. Document 5 illustrates the poor living areas of the workers, they lived in slums which were extremely filthy and refuse was scattered everywhere. They did not have gutters or drains which allowed the refuse to accumulate an so ventilation was also poor. The filthy slums also had a negative impact on the workers, this is shown in document 6. According to the document more people died due to the poor living conditions than they did from war death or wounds. These people were under 45, which was 13 years below the life expectancy at that time. Another negative impact would be imperialism. Illustrated in document 8 is the imperialization of other countries so that Britain had enough resources to grow more wealthy. Britain stripped other countries of their wealth in order to expand their own, which is a negative change that would impact the imperialized countries in a negative way. One way the industrialization significantly impacted society was in the working conditions. Since the industrialization there were many new job opportunities and new types of jobs but since they were newer they were also riskier. This greatly affects how we work even in today's world.
While Industrialization led to a dramatic increase in the production of goods, created jobs, and generated a demand for natural resources, it brought about over-crowded cities, dangerous living conditions, and the unfair treatment of workers. Beginning in around 1760, Europe went through a massive development of industry, that started with the introduction of new technology to the production of goods. Seeking work, the masses began to gravitate towards towns and cities, leading to rapid urbanization, and an available workforce. There were many positive affects to the Industrial Revolution. The living conditions were worse because of how people dispose of things. When people were just throwing things around and not caring where they put it that can cause disease which it did but it mostly did affect children because all the older men and sometimes women would be in the factories.
