Technology: How it affects the Human Species
Technology has improved the human species by providing information around the world, leading to developments in different countries. Biotechnology is improving the world of medicine, agriculture, and energy production. In the medical world, technology has a big impact by helping scientists and doctors figure out how to fight off diseases and viruses. For example, there are two individuals, one who has malaria and the other has built up a resistance to malaria. Knowing that an individual has built up resistance to malaria can help, simply by taking a sample of their blood

The energy production in biotechnology can make us come to new advanced technology that creates fuel with plants. In the past, there were studies on using vegetable oil to replace gasoline for motored vehicles, which will cause us to use less fossil fuel. We have gathering many organism’s and manipulated them with other organism’s genes, so we can replicate the gasoline or the diesel fuel. It will take time to create the fuel, and it will take many scientists as well to conduct trials. With all of the biotechnology trials death can result to it as well. If one is not careful, these organisms can become unstable, out of control and release toxic fumes or cause a new disease to break out. There are 6.8 billion people on the planet. 5.1 billion of them own a cell phone, but only 4.2 billion own a toothbrush (Hopkins, 1). About 6,000 deaths and a half a million injuries are caused by distracted drivers every year (“Cell Phone & Texting Accident Statistics” 1). As we advance in technology, there are always pros and cons. Everyday humans use their cell phones to contact their loved ones, some humans will place a cell phone call or send a text while driving. That little distraction takes four seconds for someone to realize they are about to hit something, and they are an accident waiting to happen. The irresponsible driver will collide into another vehicle or object, causing an individual to have serious injuries or death. In
As a student, I am often troubled by the rigid routines of the school day, despite the fact that I am actually a very habitual person. The constant ringing of bells, lectures, bellwork, classwork, homework, each a daily practice throughout the school year. Although all of these components promote conformity, which will ultimately support the balance of school and societal norms, they also tend to threaten each student’s own unique characteristics. This then poses the question; to what degree should schools encourage conformity versus individuality? Certainly, a level of conformity is required to achieve a balanced society however, the overall structure of the school day and class, including the methods used to teach and mandatory classes,
A CLASS DIVIDED Thirty years ago Jane Elliott taught the third grade in the white, Christian community of Riceville, Iowa. The day Martin Luther King Jr. was killed she planned an exercise that wouldn't just show her students what racism is - rather, it would give them first-hand experience of what it felt like to be oppressed for something out of their control. Elliott divided her class by the color of their eyes, marked them with armbands and proceeded to treat one group as if superior in capabilities to the other. The superior students performed better than they ever had before, while the inferior students' performance dropped. The next day, the third graders traded ranks and their performance reversed in accordance to their
In addition, we have been able to better asses a person’s genetically inherited diseases. A classic example of such diseases is cancer, by understanding how a gene can go wrong, scientist can work out a solution to treat such diseases. A method of understanding cancer is using oncomouse, a transgenic mouse carrying an activated human cancer gene, used in laboratory experiments. Oncomouse was important to science because it is made to grow cancer and with it, we can predict on how to delay or prevent cancer from an early stage. This is very useful for anti-cancer
Automobile crashes as a result of texting while driving is an epidemic that has taken over the nation in the past years. In today’s society, people have become more and more dependent on technology as everyday uses. How many can honestly say that they have text and driven? How many have had to swerve, stop on the brakes or almost gotten into an accident because of it? Texting while driving is the most common thing that almost everyone has done or seen. The main issue and threat is that people think they can safely type on their phone while driving; while others simply do not think there is any real danger with that act. Today, it is all about convenience; but the cost for this convenience can be very deadly. Studies show that any
Modern technology now a days really help with our medical fields and how we learn more about the body and how to prevent things like that.
With all of the technology improvements and advances we are able to fight and protect more effectively against ermiging diseases.
Throughout history, infectious diseases have impacted communities around the world. Outbreaks of bacteria and viruses in the past have damaged cities and devastated populations. Over the years, new developments in technology have led to advances in medicine and health. The great strides that have been made over the years have helped improve the lives of individuals and have led to a better environment.
This is making it easier for scientist and doctors to find diagnosis for patients. And find cures for some of the stronger diseases. so could you ask yourself ,in the next decade or two could we just might find the cure to some of the big problem diseases in our society, such as cancer, ALS, and hundreds more. the answer could be right before our very eyes.
Technology is an essential part of our life. The use of technology can be seen in almost every aspect of our daily routines. Despite some people’s belief that technology is progressively destroying humanity, it is evident that technology’s advancements have greatly benefited humankind due to its contributions to improving education, health, and communication.
Socialization is the lifelong process of learning rules for adapting to social and cultural normality. Learning to follow societal rules is what allows people to survive, thrive and integrate into groups and communities within society. Through the observation of others, people begin to develop core values, beliefs and morals. This builds bonds and develops a sense of belonging within a given group. In the documentary, A Class Divided, the power of socialization is demonstrated as a third-grade teacher gives her class a hands-on lesson in discrimination and bias by separating her class in to in-groups and out-groups. This lesson not only gives a glimpse into the power of socialization showing how biases can be created, but it also helps
The advances in technology in the biology field has been huge in the last ten years or so, which have aloud doctors and scientist to manipulate nature, analyze it, change it and make it behave as we wanted and needed. These advances have also allowed to create and to be able to fight diseases that go from none-deathly to deathly and extreme. For most of the diseases known in the world, doctors and scientist have found a cure or treatment, but there are quite a few still that we know little about, don’t know where they started, how they started, how to treat it, cure it, or stop it completely for that matter.
Techniques, like “[plant] cell culture, recombinant DNA [deoxyribonucleic acid] technology and cellular cloning, [would] now provide us with new ways to tap into natural diversity”(Seidler para. 3). To put it another way, biotechnology could provide new medicines. New medicines could eliminate side effect and eradicate repeated visit for injection in treatment for diseases or cancer(Christopher para. 4). Therefore, limiting biotechnology would hinder the process of creating new medicine. Medine would not be the only one affected in the medical field, but in addition, diseases could be
Although cell phones appear to be harmless devices, they are proven to be detrimental and unsafe to prolonged users. Cell phone users need to be more aware of the potential consequences of improper usage. Mobile phone radiation and health concerns have elevated, especially after the enormous increase in the use of mobile phones. Furthermore, texting while driving is a risk that many individuals take, and could lead to serious, life-threatening consequences. Nevertheless, there are quite a few solutions that may help a cell phone user in preventing the potential consequences of prolonged cell phone use. Without a doubt, many individuals continue to text while driving, partly because the communications industry is somewhat responsible for
Although many of these new technologies are possible and useful because of the cell phone, there are some downsides that come with this device. One downside is the danger of cell phones usage while operating mechanical vehicles such as cars. Because cell phones let us be so mobile, they also let us talk in situations where we are doing something else. While a person is in the middle of a discussion, he can be distracted from anything else he is doing. According to study published in "the New England Journal of Medicine," the chances of getting into an accident while on a cell phone are increased by "four hundred percent (qtd. in Hua)." Another study that was done by scientists in the "transport research laboratory" suggested that driving while using a cell phone is more hazardous then driving under the influence of alcohol at the permitted blood alcohol content level. The study says that a person on the cell phone reacts half a second slower than an alert driver (qtd. in Wrolstad). Considering the results of the research, more legislation is needed for cell phone usage, possibly banning or limiting the usage of cell phones during situations calling for a person's full attention.
The use of technology allows genetic engineering to discover new thing in the body like the function and structure of genes.
