During the 19th century, the Shawnee tribe was removed by the U.S. Government to what is now the state of Kansas. The group which became known as the Absentee Shawnee Tribe absented itself from the reservation in Kansas in 1845 (thus their name), and traveled southwards to Texas.

The Cherokee Removal is a brief history with documents by Theda Perdue and Michael Green. In 1838-1839 the US troops expelled the Cherokee Indians from their ancestral homeland in the Southeast and removed them to the Indian Territory in what is now Oklahoma. The removal of the Cherokees was a product of the demand for land during the growth of cotton agriculture in the Southeast, the discovery of gold on the Cherokees land, and the racial prejudice that many white southerners had toward the Indians.

The two tribe had a leader with great power these leaders are Chief John Redcorn from the ojibwe, and Grand Cherokee from the Mohawks. Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States of America, was an important component of the Indian Removal. Beginning in 1814, Jackson was influential in negotiating a treaty where the Indian tribes would exchange their land for land in the west. Some tribes agreed to the treaty. As a result, the United States gained control of Alabama, Florida, and parts of Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky. However, the Creeks, Cherokee and Choctaws, tribes didn’t leave voluntarily thus they were forced to walk to their new “home.”

Going back as early as 1100, the Navajo culture is one of the more fascinating tribes in North America. Although their culture did not appear until around this time, their peoples have been around since 12,000 B.C, maybe even earlier. The Navajos originated around the “Four Corners” area, in south western Colorado and south eastern Utah. I was born in the year 1738. My mother’s name is Tame doe I don't know who my father is. I was married twice my first husband was kingfisher. We had 3 children. After my husbands death I got married again to my cousin. My cousin and I had 2 girls. I was called wild rose by my mother. They had given me the name of ghigau because of my bravery. The battle of taliwa (1755) my husband Kingfisher died in this battle.
