Research development of recent years has identified the Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) technology as a prominent and efficient candidate for future vehicular communication. Under WAVE standard safety messages are broadcast or exchanged between all involved mobiles at the rate of 1 to 10 Hz. However, in a congested environment, Broadcast Storm (BSt) problem naturally occurs and exhausts the available channel bandwidth thereby rendering exchange and sharing of vital information impossible. In our recent work, the Dynamic Broadcast Storm Mitigation Algorithm (DBSMA) proved to be a good candidate for BSt problem mitigation for Cooperative Awareness Messages (CAMs) only. In the present work, the DBSMA is improved (IDBSMA) to …show more content…
The DSRC [3] was initially coined in USA [4] by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) [5]. Beside tremendous effort and contribution done all over the world to ensure effective implementation of the WAVE technology into modern automobile, numerous challenges are still hindering the success and integration of the embedded benefits brought by this technology into modern cars. One of the most critical challenges is the message congestion caused by a Broadcast Storm (BSt) problem. In fact, the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) has defined two types of messages for safety-related applications, namely, Cooperative Awareness Messages (CAMs) [6] and Decentralized Environmental Notification Messages (DENMs) [7]. CAMs type message must be broadcasted periodically at the rate of 1–10Hz, depending on the context. A Wave Short Message (WSMP) of type CAMs or Basic Safety Messages (BSMs) of 200 bytes frame long contains information about the mobile’s position, speed, and direction of the vehicle. In general, CAM messages are time triggered and is broadcasted continuously every 50 ms during the Control Channel (CCH) time interval. DENMs, however are event driven type messages and triggered when a safety-critical situation occurs. Based on the standard prescription, when several vehicles are found in the same
Included in the helpful driver alerts are Forward Collision Warnings, which give alerts to users when they are driving closely to the vehicle ahead. Moreover, drivers have the advantage of knowing where speed cameras or red light are placed with the speed camera and red light warning alert. These driver alerts are only available on the Dash Cam 35 model.
Texting while driving is a major issue affecting today’s society. Texting has grown to be one of the biggest forms of communication among people, despite the fact that some of these messages might be sent from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. As a result, distracted driving often occurs removing the main objective a driver should be focusing on; the road ahead. Texting-related vehicular accidents and fatalities have caused a majority of states to establish texting bans, making this act illegal while driving. With texting-related accidents increasing, new approaches and resources are being developed to eliminate this epidemic problem. It is imperative to express awareness that
In today’s society the traffic is very bad the highway is always jam packed and considering the new technology that is out in this time doesn’t help. Many people are driving with their phones in their hands. Either texting someone that they are on their way or changing the song on their playlist.
The use of IoT in the development of autonomous vehicles has led to the general reduction of fatalities (Sheng et.al, 2013). The reduction of fatalities is from the following aspects of driverless cars which are improved on by the use of IoT in the vehicle technology.
Every year there are hundreds of car accidents that are directly related to some style of electronic device distracting people in cars driving and sadly the death rate keeps increasing as more technology is developed. For many people the use of their cell phone is a way to keep in contact with their friends or business partners. This technology advancement has started a problem with people trying to multitask behind the driver’s wheel which has been shown to increase the distraction level of the driver. Most car users now own a global positioning system which does allow driver to get to their destination fast and safer but if used at the wrong time can be a major distraction and
So abstain from chatting on a mobile phone or notwithstanding messaging, which can hold up. Drive securely by taking after as far as possible and when you see a red light, then stop to stay away from any mishap.
The existence of the organization National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970. The founder the organization is the U.S. Department of Transportation. From public service announcements to prevent texting and driving, the (NHTSA) is a credible source and organization since it is at a national scale. Specifically, their Public Service Announcement (PSA) titled “Ambulance” (See Figure 1) from (NHTSA) is quite effective by convincing drivers to stop texting and driving.
and Response Network (WARN) Act was passed by Congress in 2008. The WARN Act allows federal agencies to transmit alerts from the President of the United States, National Weather Service (NWS), state and local emergency operation centers to participating wireless providers to have those alerts broadcast to their customers. With the CAP technology of IPAWS using the IPAWS-OPEN, the program formerly known as the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS), now called the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA), issues alerts that are transmitted with technology akin to SMS text messages. These WEA alerts are delivered to all cellular phones by way of cell towers rather than the older technique of transmitting text alerts to individual users. The WEA has

Technology can sometimes pose a threat to our driving, but it can also be the solution to building better and safer driving habits. We’ve found three innovative technologies to help you and your loved ones drive safe and distraction-free.
The North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, which was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on December 8th, 1993, went into effect on January 1st, 1994. By December of 1994, Mexico underwent a deep economic crisis, which saw the devaluation of the Mexican peso, a deterioration of wages, rampant unemployment, as well as extensive personal and corporate bankruptcies that led to the poverty and malnutrition of many of its citizens. As we explore the economic effects that NAFTA has had on Mexico, we must consider what economic disparity has meant for the citizens of Mexico, and how it has impacted migration patterns from Mexico to the United States.
Technology has allowed us to accomplished many new devices in the past years. One of the those devices is a handy tool called a Cell Phone. Just about everyone has a cell phone nowadays, the cell phone has endless abilities it can do. Many people use it on the daily to help with certain tasks such as getting in touch with people by calling or texting. Cell phones can be found just about anywhere such as offices and business, but one place a cell phone does not belong is in the hands of a driver in a car.
The effect of using a hand-held cellular phone and listening to radio broadcast on driving performance will be explored. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly talking on the hand-held cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand-held phone would take the driver’s attention away and would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that cell phone use while driving is dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be detrimental on driving task. Many people turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a conversation with using a hand-held cell phone while driving will decrease the driving performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have significant effect. Important implications for the results for driving performance and for future research will be discussed.
Worldwide 1.2 million deaths are caused annually because of car accidents and one fourth of that is caused by injury and death later and that can change. People are already decreasing that statistic with other car advancements like automatic stopping so why do we need vehicle to vehicle communication “V2V communications”. Cars can sense other cars and obstacles nearby, but this is not as great as it seems. Cars can malfunction and get hacked by hackers easily with this kind of technology in them. I feel this technology is not worthwhile because it is an invasion of privacy, has hacking concerns, and other technology is available, though there are others that disagree with me they believe that the safety is strong, but its not.
Many people think that present-day climate change is similar to paleoclimate change, but this is only true when looking at the effects of climate change, the trends in temperature, and the trends in greenhouse gas levels, which have all stayed the same. By applying the principle of uniformity, we know that many of the current processes, such as plate tectonics happened in the same way in the past. In order to use climate proxy records, we have to apply this principle to be able to compare the data about the current and past environment with equal weight. For example, we assume that the ice cores reacted the same way to changes in air composition and temperature in the past, such as the mid-Cretaceous, as they do today, so that we can make fair statements of whether or not the air composition and temperatures have changed or stayed relatively similar. We
