He was very dedicated to Ruby pier, for he worked there his entire life. In fact, Eddie died at work saving a little girl from a falling amusement ride. As Eddie heads to heaven, he meets five people who teach him important life lessons. Each person that Eddie meets has had an effect on him in some way, he just did not realize it at the time. For instance, the 1st person that Eddie meets in heaven is the Blue Man. He worked at the freak show on Ruby Pier due to his rare skin color. It turns out, Eddie is the reason why the Blue Man died. To go more in depth, one day Eddie and his friends were tossing a baseball around and it rolled into the middle of the street. Eddie, only a child at the time, sprints after the ball going directly into the busy road. The Blue Man, a new driver, quickly slams on the brakes, his car sliding all over the place. In the novel it says, “The child disappeared in the rearview mirror, but the man’s body is still affected, thinking of how close he came to tragedy. The jolt of adrenaline has forced his heart to pump furiously and this heart is not a strong one and the pumping leaves him drained. The man feels dizzy and his head drops momentarily. Upon hearing this Eddie feels awful and asks why the blue man died instead of Eddie. The blue man assures him that it was okay and that everything happens for a reason. “There are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind” (Albom, 48). This was the first lesson for Eddie. That everything happens for a reason and that no life is a waste. “No life is a waste, the only time we waste is the time we spend thinking that we are alone.” (50)

However, after he dies, he is able to see his life through a different perspective, one of eternity, and realizes how unique and important his life has been. As pilgrims, our view of suffering and day to day actions constricts our ability to see how God truly weaves human messiness together to create a beautiful tale of redemption. After marrying him they went on adventures and had a grand time. He set out to build her an amusement park. They had a great time but soon the park set on fire her
