Illegal Immigration Is Illegal

On January 27 Donald Trump signed an executive order on immigration. This order blocked many refugees from coming into the United States. The order also blocks citizens from Muslim countries such as Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen from entering the U.S. Donald Trump goal is to protect the U.S through the immigration ban. He saids that with the immigration ban ,the government will be able to review the refugee approval process and add more security measures.

The newly indicted President of the United States, Donald Trump had made an executive order to create an immigrant ban to prevent immigrants from entering and returning to the United States. Shortly after signed the order there was chaos due to Trumps lack of communication; Trump had signed the order as the official's were still discussing it. To continue, when the order was set Custom border control had received orders, however, they were quite unsure of what to do, more questions continue to raise about why trump had singed this order and why he was so quick to fulfill it. Bier expresses his personal opinion about the execute order signed by Trump that supports to bar all permanent immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries. According to Bier, the order is illegal, since Congress outlawed all discrimination against immigrants and American citizens based on nationality, race, sex, place of birth, or place of residence by means of The Immigration and National Act of 1965. I. Newly inaugurated President Donald Trump has recently approved a ban involving the restriction of travel into the United States of immigrants from seven Muslim countries. Since this ban is only for up to 90 days, this is just the beginning of a potentially longer or even permanent ban. This is not the first time he has demonstrated the lack of regard with social equality.

Illegal immigration is the migration of people across national borders in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country. Some countries have millions of illegal immigrants. Immigration, including illegal immigration, is overwhelmingly upward, from a poorer to a richer country. The easy definition of an undocumented immigrant is someone who was not born in the United States and therefore has no legal right to be or remain in the United States. Not all undocumented immigrants snuck across the border illegally. Although it is hard to get an accurate number on the amount that did, some undocumented immigrants originally came here legally as tourists or some came on a temporary visa and just did not leave. The reasons on why they decided to stay and not go back to their countries are numerous. Some immigrants come to the United States to work and escape the poor economy in their country, while others come to be with their family. Illegal immigration has almost always been a part of the United States. There seems to be a neverending amount of people who believe in the “land of opportunity”, the home of the free and the brave. However, it seems that some may be more opportune than others. Illegal immigrants come to America with hopes and dreams of living a better lifestyle than the one that they currently possess. Currently, the American citizenship process is antiquated and not suited to fit a modern United States of America. Consequently, due to several constraints within the system, many are unable to achieve their dreams legally, and are treated like common crooks. Although many believe that illegal immigrants are criminals who should be deported, undocumented immigrants are victims of a broken system and are crucial to the sustainability of the modern-day American economy.

The subject of illegal immigration is nothing new in the United States. The social, economic, and political issues surrounding illegal immigrants have been debated at the federal and state levels for years. In the last decade, one of the issues which has received a lot of attention and development is the issue of higher education for illegal immigrants. Until recently many illegal immigrant students were unable to attend institutes of higher education because their lack of documentation disqualified them from admissions and financial assistance. Without clear federal mandates on the matter, decisions regarding higher education for undocumented immigrant students are left to the discretion of individual states. Among various laws and statutes enacted by states, the state of Minnesota has established its clear support of equal education opportunities for undocumented immigrant students by granting them higher education rights through the Minnesota Dream Act.

Often when I dive into almost any political debate or national issue I find that people love to argue over the symptoms of an issue and almost never the root cause. Illegal immigration is just one of these symptoms, however I prefer the more accurate term of undocumented immigration. Illegal immigration is not the issue at hand, the issue at hand is that the state and federal governments do not want people working that are undocumented.

The Unites States is founded on immigrants from every part of the world. According to the Migration Policy Institute, the United States attracts the largest number of immigrants in the world (MPI, Webpage). In 2013, the United States has approximately 41.3 million of immigrants, accounting for 13 percent of the overall population (Betalova, 2015). However, not all of the immigrants here in the United States does the right thing, a lot of them come to the country illegally and for a variety of reasons this is a bad thing. These immigrants have come into the country numerous ways and continue to cause controversy. People can all agree that immigration is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed. However, before addressing this issue, people need to learn more about this situation.
