“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are,” (Cooley). Reading has impacted us in many ways throughout our lives. Often time’s books give people different perspectives on their lives. People with high stress levels often find comfort in reading books to take their mind off of their concerns. Sometimes, people just need to take a step back from their life and relax for a while; therefore, reading is a great tool. Reading all kinds of books has also helped me become a better writer. There are many different books that have impacted me over the years. Children often like when their parents read them a bedtime story before they go to sleep. It is usually a nightly ritual that children become attached to. They also usually become attached to a certain book that their parents read to them. As a child, I loved when my mom read me the book, If you Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff. The mouse in this book was always wanting more than he had, and was taking his owner for granted. This book taught me that we are constantly wanting or needing more than we have in life, but we can’t always have it. We need to appreciate what we …show more content…
And our pictures will become old photographs. We’ll all become somebodies mom or dad. But right now, these moments are not stories. This is happening...this one moment when you know you are not a sad story. You are alive…” (Chbosky). As we get older, we start to understand the deeper meanings to books. One book that really changed my view on life is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This book has impacted me in so many ways. Learning to live in the moment is not easy for some people, but it is necessary to enjoy life. No one should constantly be living for the future, when they can be living in the moment and be happy. This book also taught me that we shouldn’t just accept things that we think we deserve, like love. We deserve more than we think we
It allowed me to connect with the author’s thoughts and thoroughly understand the story or novel. Because of this, it caused me to enjoy reading, which I was not particularly fond of before.
“How Reading Changed My Life” is the book from where the piece of fragment that we read was taken. This book was written by Anna Quindlen. I was able to relate to Quindlen’s perspective and strongly agree with her. Although children have more extra time to read their favorite books over and over again, adults were children and if they liked to re-read books in the past because the book was in their interest, they will also reread their favorite novel in the present.
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one. ”(George R.R. Martin) This quote shows that when you read a book, you will relate it to your life and the book may have a solution that makes you live a longer and a better life. All authors will have a lesson or a value we can use or follow but the reader needs to decide if the values are valuable for them.
Literature makes people better because it takes them to another world where they can relate their struggles, improve their empathy, and increase their brain skills. “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie,” was written by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond in the year 1985. The book is about a mouse that tells the little boy in the story that he wants milk then a straw, then a cookie, and it continues till the mouse wants the milk again. During the duration of the book the mouse never seems to be fully satisfy and always wanting more or other things to do while telling the boy to get it for him. When I was younger I remember wanting a cookie after reading this story and believed the meaning of the story was to get a cookie and a glass of milk with a straw when you are hungry. As I got older and reread the story all over again I realized I had a different interpretation of the book than I had when I

Escaping from the severe reality of life helps a person get through their difficulties within life. Whether they have emotional or physical problems, or a person just needs a good story, reading can help a person explore new worlds through their imagination. I loved reading from a young age, and treasured the moments when my mother read to me. She helped me explore the unique worlds that authors try to portray through their writing.
In the article “10 Benefits of Reading: Why You Should Read Every Day”, Lana Winter-Hebert expands on the ten benefits of reading, which include mental stimulation, stress reduction, vocabulary expansion, and more. She made an analogy saying “reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”, and she proves this theory in her writing. When reading a book, all of your attention and focus are in on that book and you tend to forget all about your worries and personal problems, so reading is initially reducing stress levels and brings about inner peace and tranquility. Reading can additionally help you in your future life. Studies have proved that staying mentally stimulated can delay or even prevent diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The young adult genre of books is generally taken up by vampires, romance, and fantasy worlds where the guy gets the girl and everyone lives happily ever after. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is an acceptance to this. It has an interesting plot line, teaches valuable lessons, and is very realistic. Everyone has a favorite snack or dessert or even evening treat. For some it might be salty or sour, but for a lot of people, sweets are the number one go-to. Cookies are a big favorite, but who wants to sit and wait twenty minutes for them to get done in the oven or spend money at the store for some chocolate chip cookies? They are also crummy and break into pieces, but there is a great alternative. To make the ideal cookie in a cup, one must prepare cookie dough, place the right amount in the right coffee cup, heat the dough to perfection, and enjoying your scrumptious treat.
Have you ever come home and smelled something burning? That is probably the oven burning your food that you worked so hard on. Raymond Mar, a psychologist at Your University in Canada and Keith Oatley a professor An The University of Toronto, they both say that “individuals who often read fiction appear to be better able to understand other people, empathies with them and view the world from their perspectives.” I agree that reading certain types of books can help people further understand and see things from a different point of view. Reading helps to open people's eyes and to teach life lessons or to show there are other things to believe in and know other than what they have always been told to know. Getting different types of books, types that are not always the same as the books that you normally read can help you to view things differently. For example from personal experience a new book can help your imagination grow, readings helps me a lot when I need to come up with new ideas for an art class. The new places a book takes you the new images you see while you are reading the new stores you hear and the happy ending your book might have can change the way you are feeling it can brighten up your day.
When some people remind reading books, they usually mention about exploring the world or understanding the culture, learning the history of country, but I have different ideas. I read books to live better and be responsibility person. A book has a valuable thing which often has been written not only an author but also different author. They have to put a lot of resources, mental, even finance into it. After that, that book has just published and showed to people. Therefore, we can summary about the book which has life experience of people who lived and had great experiences. The best way to live is to learn something good of other people throughout pages of the book. We should look at the life famous author who is successful to abridge the gap which we want to fill up closely.
When students read and write about literature, it helps them deal with stress. When reading, it is common to feel immersed in the text. This is particularly common in fiction. When someone picks up a book and dives into that universe, stress is melted away because they are now free of their responsibilities.
I love books because my books love me back . In moments of distress literature guides me. When I am heavy hearted, I turn to my favorite novels, they reassure me that even in the worst situation good fate always wins . When I am lonely, I reacquaint myself with the safe and familiar characters that I have grew to love. When I am happy, I smile because I have lived the lives of warriors, enchantresses, and even the commonday person. Although the emotional connection between literature and myself is imperishable, there was a time in my life when that bond was nonexistent. However, for one to understand the significant impact stories have had on my life, one must know my life. Thus this story begins with my childhood. A conventional upbringing of sorts but of course my childhood doesn't begin with me. It begins with my parents. My parents met each other at high school when they were fourteen years old . Call it destiny, or mere luck, this one cue meet would define their lives for the next twenty two years. My parents fell quickly and passionately in love. Their devotion for one another as an imminent as their fallout, however, we are not there yet. We are at the bittersweet moments of young love. The moments that make one believe in eternity although these moments themselves cease to last just as long. My parents own version of forever welcomed a young little girl named Nicte Impala Perez on March 18th 1998. In that moment, my parents believed that the three of us could defeat
