if i stay The book If I Stay is very interesting but yet can be emotional. In this book it goes in large detail about how a girl named Mia and her family get into a car accident. It also tells you very much about her life, because she has to decide if she should stay and live or die. Mia plays the cello and her parents were rockers. Also her little brother was like her parents but Mia was not as much. She listens to softer music than her parents. In the book it goes in better detail about the accident like for instance in the book it says that there were her father brains on the ground, but in the movie it doesn't show that. In most ways i enjoyed the book more than the movie but the movie had some good points and qualities. On a snowy day Mia and her family went on a drive and got into a car …show more content…
the family was having a good time in the car as it sounded. Mia plugged in the music and they were listening to Beethoven before it all happened. In the blink of an eye as Mia was drifting away into her music, and the a truck and their car collided. When Mia “woke up” she was laying in the snow and in the book it says she was stepping all over her father's brains but in the movie it does not show that. Mia and her little brother were rushed to the hospital. In the book it says that her parents died on the scene but in the movie her mother died on the scene and her father was brought to the hospital and died there. Shortly after Mia got to the hospital and after her surgery, her grandparents were told what was going on. In the book they explain what happen in more detail about the accident and what's going on, but in the movie they just had it brief and to the point. When Mia gets to the hospital she looks everywhere for her parents and finds out they are dead. In the movie she sees that her mother is dead on the scene and
However, there are just as many differences between the novel and the film. For example, at the end of the novel, Melinda tells Mr. Freeman about what happened to her. In the movie, she tells her mother about the incident. This affected the relationship between Melinda and her mother as portrayed in the novel. Their relationship in the novel was not very close at all. It would’ve been very shocking if at the end of the novel, Melinda told her mother about how she was raped.
That is why the point of view is different in the book and in the movie. The second difference is the characters. The characters are different because in the book there are sixteen characters and in the movie there are only ten. The missing characters are Theo Theodorakis, Flora Baumbach, Madame Sun Lin Hoo, and Dr. Denton Deere.
When we saw the movie and the book and saw the movie, there were a couple of thing that they did not mention or did in the movie. In the movie they cut out some thing from the book. They did not really put everything they said in the book into the movie. They also did not really get some people personal feature. Here are something that were different from the movie, than what it said from the book.
In the book, there is a massive blizzard after she is shot and goes inside the car. Whereas, in the movie, there is no blizzard, only the crowded highway. That in my opinion, added another small bit of detail that altogether makes the book better and deeper. Another reason this impacts the story is because when she passes out, she is in much more danger, as she could bleed out, freeze to death, or starve/die from dehydration. Lastly, this is important because although they both reach the same conclusion, Evan rescuing her and taking her to his house to patch her up, the book has the blizzard which just builds suspense and makes the book more intense.
Both book and film show the kids taking care of each other. They both show the kids planning to leave to New York. Although the plots are the same, the movie leaves out lots of the scenes that I considered important. The tone is more effective in the movie than it is in the book. The film doesn’t really show the happier scenes, it mainly shows the saddest ones.
There were a lot of differences that I noticed between the book and movie. One of the differences that I really liked is how we got a sense of Abigail’s insanity in the movie. She looks and sounds a lot more convincing in the movie than in the book. One thing that I noticed is that in the movie, when Abigail is trying to wake Betty up, many of the girls who has also danced with them were there as well, yet in the book it was only Abigail, Betty, Mercy and Mary Warren in the room. Then when Betty finally awakes and starts to yell for her mother, Abigail is very harsh in the way that she yells at Betty telling her that her mom is "dead and buried.
On the way, she meets familiar people as well as friendly strangers. Between the movie and the book, the book is much better because it has more characters, which is important in a story. The book also gives different points of view for different characters than the movie, which gives you more of a sense of what is
The actor choices from the film compare to what the book envisioned, but also contrast. The character of Daisy is not similar in the film to what the book
It’s safe to say that books being turned into movies are one of the best things to ever happen to our favorite books. Though things can go horribly wrong, like leaving out small, but important, details. If I Stay is a fantastic book and movie but the differences take too much away from the movie, using minute details are very important in helping the movie reach the potential the book has. One difference is the role that the main character, Mia Hall, brother, Teddy Hall, plays. In the book, Teddy is a constant, vital character.
One difference is the appeal and image of the characters. For example, in the book Andy has blond hair and lives with her boyfriend named Alex Fineman. Later in the story, Alex breaks up with Andy. In contrast, Andy has brown hair in the movie. Also the boyfriend’s name is Nate Cooper, instead of Alex Fineman. Another difference in characters is
Both share the same plot, and there are very little differences between the two. These are a few of the differences that I was able to notice between the book and the movie. There are several others throughout the story, but they are all just as minute and in the end they have no effect on the outcome of the story. Overall, I was very impressed with the movie and it was very true to the book. I have seen my share of movies that were adaptations from books that did not do the book justice, but this one is almost exactly like the book, so it was very
The Plot does not really have any differences in the movie from the book. The only real
➢ Virtue Ethics – in the situation Sophie is faced with I believe that a virtue ethicist would state that Sophie made an incorrect or the wrong decision in selecting one of her children to be sent to their own death. As virtue ethics and mainly the Aristotelian virtue ethicist approach believes that the character of an individual is important and that the way in which we act will determine whether we are a virtuous individual. The virtue ethicist would state that the best outcome of the situation would be to send both of her children to their death. They believe that morality is based on happiness and to act in a virtuous manner is the best way to act as it is what a true human being should do. If she was presented with such a choice by the Nazi, to let the guards kill both of her children or for her to herself decide which one must perish, then she should not, from a virtue ethicist point of view have any interference with the death of her two children as she would be interfering with their death and causing one to perish – this is not virtuous so should be avoided.
As I approach the applied learning assignment for the semester I intend to learn how to properly write a sociological essay and how to effectively analyze all the possible sociological reasons to a crime. I specifically am aiming toward improving my analytical skills mostly, but also my writing skills. I am a very non-analytical person when it comes to analyzing a book or an article. I have never been the one to analyze because I have always just comprehended the readings in which I have received and that got me where I needed to be. This class challenges me to analyze everything I read or hear and I actually have found some enjoyment out of that. Growing up, I have rarely been asked to extensively analyze text before, until sociology.
