The Idaho Falls 5th Ward Meetinghouse is an excellent example from a golden age in the history of building design and construction for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). The landmark Art Moderne building is located in the southeast Idaho city of Idaho Falls, and was designed in 1937 by the architectural firm of Sundberg and Sundberg. The building was dedicated on March 25, 1945 by David O. Mckay, then 2nd Counselor to the First Presidency of the LDS Church. The building is unique in that it is one of a few remaining stylistically intact historic LDS ward houses still in use today in

A painting is a complicated piece if one were to simply look at it with their eyes only. However, if an artist or someone who studies art studies it down to its last detail, they would realize it is a lot more simple than it appears to be. One example would have to be the Monroe Country House with Yellow Datura.
The class teacher was telling the whole class that 4th grades have to do a social studies project. In which they have many options and that they should get started soon since they have 3 weeks to hand it in. One of the options is for the students to make an Iroquois longhouse, or to write their own Native American Legend, or to make a diorama describing a Native American scene that will capture their daily life and their government system. Lastly, was to create a PowerPoint presentation. Teacher told them that they shouldn't have any trouble doing this project, because they have been talking about Native American for a couple of weeks now. Mrs. Roush offer the class to use to computers or to print stuff whenever they wanted but that this project
This essay is about the Spokane Indian Tribe. Do you know who is Spokane Indian? The Spokane Indian is the Interior Salish Group. This video was originally an assignment I made for my college’s TV station. I wanted to explore the history of Friendship House, a unique, little-known piece of historical architecture in my home town, and tell the story of how it came to be at the college, while raising awareness of this one-of-a-kind landmark in my area.
The Standing Rock Sioux tribe believes in the importance of tradition, and protecting their history; The Developers of the DAPL believe in progress, expediency, and the law. These are two way of thinking that are not going to be compatible when it comes to the cooperation and development of the DPAL. Even though much cooperation from other tribes has been conducted and alteration of development has been facilitated so to reach a compromise with the effected tribes. The ultimate want for these tribes is that the pipeline simply does not exist, this unfortunately is not a possibility considering much development, time, and resources have been put into the project. Only so much compromise can be made but there must come a point when no more mitigation

Over the last couple of decades, Buffalo has found itself in a grave housing crisis. The urban population is shrinking and the population in poverty is growing, leaving houses abandoned and left to fall apart. Although many cities in the Rust Belt are facing similar problems, about 15.7% of Buffalo housing was left vacant as of 2010, which places Buffalo as ninth in the nation for vacancy rate. As the masses abandon their homes, run down neighborhoods see an increase in crime and drug use, and a rapid decrease in property value (Armstrong et al. 1-2). Many see this deterioration, however, as an opportunity to renovate impoverished neighborhoods and make them more attractive to the upper and middle class. This process, known as gentrification, should increase the overall well being of residents by making neighborhoods safer,
I agree with the students who want to change the name of the Forrest Hall Building on MTSU campus, because I think our students have the responsibility as those with the power to change this name since we don’t want to our state university to represent something hateful. When MTSU built its ROTC building in 1954, President Smith named it Forrest Hall in honor of Nathan Bedford Forrest’s reputation as an “interpid confederate cavalry leader who won fame with his brilliant raids. Maybe that was Forrest’s reputation in 1954, but in 2015 Forrest’s reputation becomes one of hate, racism, and violence. We do not want or need that at MTSU.
The protagonist of Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House is Eleanor Vance, an emotionally underdeveloped young woman with a dark past. As a character, she has a deep connection to the broad theme of family within the novel, and more specifically, how the lack of family when it is desperately needed leads to emptiness.
Here we mainly talk about three buildings. The first building of the Art Center was built in 1943 and actually was the first museum built in the United States and is a distinctly modern building. Its name is Saarinen Building. It’s an S shaped building located on the crest of a small hill. The S shape creates a battery of wings connected to Saarinen’s building from east to west side, include different aspects of the center such as the auditorium and the classrooms. The building has a flat roof which constructed of reinforced concrete and clad in Lannon stone from Wisconsin. There’s an ongoing program called Smart Sunday which is for families. The purpose is to engage in a variety of community’s children and their families and it’s responding to either a permanent collection object or temporary exhibition such as tony feher. The second building is I.M.PEI building built in 1968 which is the Chinese-American architect designed. It slopes down at the south side of the Saarinen’s open courtyard. It’s made of two materials class in concrete primarily. I.M.PEI took the same concrete and bush hammered stone from Saarinen building. But after 25 years later from 1943, there was a need to expand and large-scale works. So actually this building is totally different than the Saarinen building, it’s massive, open, and heavy. And Jackson Pollock painting which painted in 1943 is an example of why this was needed
In The Odyssey, women play many different roles. The goddesses are very powerful and controlling, while most mortal women are subservient and seen as inferior to men. However, there are a few key women in The Odyssey who prove to be both intelligent and strong, unlike their stereotypes.
The two ethical violations exhibited by the worker in this case are; informed consent and competence.
3). It begins with a single long rectangle then it experiences addition of rectangles. Next are extensions of the center datum and added rectangles. The last change is the addition of semi-circles to the north and west side. The main reason for the addition of these semicircles is due to the influence of the Romanesque style of architecture. Orton Hall is an ideal example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. This style is from the 19th century and was popularized by architect Henry Hobson Richardson. Aspects of this style which are all incorporated into Orton Hall include a heavy stone exterior, tower, steeply pitched roof, red clay roof, bay window and round arches (Fig. 4). Without these characteristics Orton Hall would lose all of its most distinguishable features. A precedent with similar features would be the Broad St. United Methodist Church located in downtown Columbus (Fig. 5). This building is built in the High Victorian Gothic style by the same architect as Orton Hall, Joseph w. Yost. Yost may have used a different style for the two buildings but they are similar in which they both have steep sloping roofs, a tower, and asymmetry (Fig. 6). The tower along with the other features of Orton Hall can be simplified into abstract and simple shapes such as cylinders, prisms, a sphere cut in half, and a cone (Fig.
