One day in 2011, I had an epiphany that I wanted to become the CEO of a hospital one day. The CEO of Rose Medical Center became aware of this and informed me that I could certainly have his job one day, but I must first go back to school and get my Master's degree. He is not the only person that has hounded me about going back to school. Many other managers, administrators and even family members have said the same. Clearly they see something in me that I had not quite yet see in myself. I think I am finally coming to the realization that if they think I can obtain a Master's degree, then I certainly possess the skills, knowledge and motivation to go back to school. It is time for me to shake up my content, routine life and take the step to bettering myself and fulfilling the commitment I made to myself on December 31, …show more content…
Going to college out of state, adjusting to the college atmosphere and curriculum in addition to playing a sport for a university was a bit of an adjustment for me my freshman year. I had always gotten good grades and was on the honor roll all four years in high school, but after two semesters in college, I realized that I was struggling academically and needed help. In need of direction and assistance on how I could get myself back on track academically, I met with my coach. She was aware of my love to write and public speaking and thus she suggested that I major in Communications. I took her advice and ended up excelling in that area. I did a complete turn around academically and even made the Big 12 All Academic First Team. That conversation with my coach was pivotal to my academic success and I am so grateful that I was able to reach out to her for guidance and support.
I'm very much looking forward to going back to school and I would love the opportunity to do so at Colorado State University Global Campus. I appreciate your
After graduating high school, I went straight into the work field for 2 and a half years. I never really appreciated school growing up and never gave a real effort in grade school. After 2 Years of not going to school, I began to notice and appreciate the value of receiving an education. At first i was hesitant of returning back to school because of my age, I was 21 years old. Most people my age were finishing college and I was just beginning. When I first attended NOVA my goal was to just receive my associates degree in business administration but after a year I realized that I shouldn't just settle for that when I could get my bachelors. I finished my last course at NOVA this past summer and it was a great feeling. I had always planned to
I have been fortunate to be the recipient of untold hours of guidance of my own coaches and mentors. I can only imagine the sacrifices they have made- time away from family and fatigue just to name a couple. As a result of their investment in me, I have had innumerable opportunities, not the least of which will be the opportunity to attend Rice next fall and play baseball for the Owls. I am doing my best to apply the lessons I've learned through Wylie high school sports, to my life and all the lives I touch through service. All of these lessons impacted my life immensely and will follow me through
Developing skills of organization, efficiency, and a strong work ethic was crucial to balancing time for studying, research, practices, and games. Additionally, to ensure I achieved my academic and athletic goals, effective communication with teammates, professors, and coaches was essential. Although my time as a student-athlete came to an end, the
In August of 2012, at Grand Rapids Community College, I was placed on Academic Probation due to my cumulative GPA dropping below the 2.0 threshold. Prior to this action, I was not driven to take the action to perform well in my classes. I was lost in the options for my future and unaware of where I would end up. It was this lack of focus and drive that reflected in my performance. This was a strong turning point in my life, and after being placed on academic probation I came to appreciate the repercussions I was facing by not prioritizing my education. It was in this year that I decided on where I wanted my college career to take me. Through the influential factors I discussed in my personal statement, I had both my mind and my future set on
Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed.
A little over four years ago, after taking a seven year break from college, I decided I wanted to get my associate degree to better myself in my career but also to accomplish something that I didn’t think wasn’t meant for me. Once I finished my associate degree in liberal arts, I considered continuing on with my education but wasn’t sure once again if I should or how would I do it. I was given a great opportunity when the private doctor office I worked for merged with the University Of Sylvester Cancer Center. I am blessed and honored to be able to say I am working for UM, and one of the best benefits I have received for working with such a prestige intuition, is that I’m able to attend the University of Miami with a full covered
My reasons for returning to school may seem a bit selfish but let me explain. I have been an EMT and Paramedic for the past 28 years. The areas for advancement in this field are far and few between. Although I have over 10 years of experience as a supervisor, to be considered for a Director position, a Bachelor's Degree is required and here I am.
After I moved to the U.S. two years ago, my family and I have been through the hard situation of not having a good economic standing. After staying out of school, I enrolled in an adult continuing education program, since I was not admitted to high school. I found the support that I needed to improve my English language and to obtain my GED diploma. Subsequently, my time was dedicated for the entrance exams and admission process of UTRGV, which has been one of my biggest accomplishments. It is something great but concerning, for I am in need to work to pay for tuition and support my family.
Going back to school has been a big fear of mine for quite some time. After completing my associates degree 11 years ago, I struggled to figure out if my job would be my career. After moving multiple times overseas and back to the United States, I finally worked up the courage to talk to college counselors and determine the best degree for my personal and professional needs.
As a young Puerto Rican, I always wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. This is because I have always had a caring heart and I enjoyed to take care of everyone. My educational goal is to get a Doctorate degree in Nursing. Furthermore, to reach that goal I have to start working on my Associate Degree. Therefore, my first educational goal is to begin and complete my associate degree. My career Goal after graduation is working as an RN in the Sarah Todd Nursing Home; the nursing home which I currently work at as a CNA. Being a CNA allows me to reach out and help people. Continuing my education would increase the amount of care that I can provide.
Last year I sent my third and final child off to college. At that point I had to determine what my next steps with my personal and professional life would be. One of the main things that I never accomplished was receiving my degree, so I decided to enroll in Patten University and begin my journey of obtaining my Bachelors of Arts degree in Leadership Management. In earning my degree it would offer me additional opportunities with my professional career in obtaining a position that would only be given to someone that has a degree.
A year and half has passed since I’ve completed my undergraduate degree. In this time, I’ve had a chance to reflect on my career goals. I am now ready to earn my MBA in health care management. With this degree, I will be able to accomplish my career goals and objectives. I plan to use my master 's degree to help me pursue a career in health care management. My career goal is to become a health care manager in one of my area hospitals. I’ve research the strategies needed to successfully complete a MBA program. I’m motived and fully prepared to start working on my MBA. I ecstatic to embark on this new journey
In 2010, I graduated with my associates degree in Computer Networking Systems. After the completion of my degree, I went to work for a small pediatric clinic to help implement a new Electronic Medical Records. I stayed working for the company for 10 years. During this time, I seen many employees come and go and the company had a hard time finding good staff. This is when I realized that I would like to pursue a degree to help organizations like this one find great staff that will love what they do and provide quality service. With a Bachelor’s degree I felt I would be able to pursue my goals and increase my changes with finding better employment along with increasing my changes for growth personally and financially.
Three days after receiving my Bachelor of Business Management the decision to continue my education without any reservation was another smart decision I have made in my life. A graduate degree will help me to improve my career by being marketable in today’s society. This degree will increase my options and professional prospects on my current job or in the near future. Several people have asked, why are you going right back to school, are you not tired? Whenever posed with this question I always answer with a smile, a person can never get too much education.
I aspire to be in a managerial position that would build on my skills, knowledge and professional expertise. I am an ambitious individual who looks for different ways to excel and turns every challenge into an opportunity. I have been very fortunate to work in a healthcare organization for over three years, where I have constantly been in positions to learn and grow. My professional experience has encouraged me to meet new people and establish strong working relationships. Throughout this journey, I have received a wide range of support and guidance from the various levels of management. This has inspired me to be in a role where I have a greater amount of responsibility while being a good leader at the same time. All these aspects have prepared me to take the next step and enter into the Master’s program to further advance my knowledge, skills, and abilities in an academic setting. The timing couldn’t have
