Triston Ashmus Poverty I grew up in a small family in Pontiac, Illinois. My parents divorced when I was around the age of seven and I lived with my mom majority of the time. School was very important not only to me but my father and mother. They both always pushed me to do better in school so I could attend a college one day. I am the only one in my family to ever attend a college so it was a big step not only for myself but my whole family also. I never heard my parents talk about politics but as I am learning more and more I am starting to take a more liberal view. This can create problems as I have seen firsthand when I worked at Ace Hardware. Only the managers and their assistants were allowed to be full time. People would call in all the time and I could just tell that they either did not care about the job, due to the fact that they were barely getting paid anything or they had gotten stuck at their other job and had to choose which one was more important. Whatever the reason, I noticed it seemed hard to find good quality help for a part time employee. Many part time employees never get a chance to jump at a full time position. For an employee to get a full time position they would have to work there for a good amount of time. Since many part time people have to get two jobs and then with problems in their lives this can cause them to jump from job to job. Many part time people work in various fields because they will pick up any work they can in order to make some money. Poverty in the United States is not a good thing and there is not a whole lot that is getting done to fix that problem. People would like to help the poor but no one really knows what they can do to help. Lack of information that is provided about the issues on poverty is a main reason why no one can determine how to help. The media does not keep Americas informed on what the country is going through concerning this problem. For many Americans, poverty is being blamed because of
