Philosophy Early childhood is a field I see myself staying in for a long time. I am currently working at a child care center, and enjoy learning about the different ways to run a center and the new information available to us. I have worked at two child care centers, and while the curriculum and rules are different, the goal of having the best quality of service for the parent is the same. Providing for parents and wanting the best for every student by having staff who wants to work and wants to do everything they can to supply the best for children is how to deliver quality care. After finishing school, I would like to open up my own child care center. By creating a safe, fun, and loving environment for children, they are able to learn, grow, and develop, in the best possible way. Jean Piaget stated children think differently from adults, before they are able to think like them, they must first go through four cognitive development stages; sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. People think differently from each other and have their own learning process. If we know adults have their own thinking, then we also need to realize the same thing about children. Children think and learn differently from each other, and with limited knowledge about their environment, will not have the same problem solving skills as someone older. I believe as educators, we should not try to change a child’s thinking or try to influence them. They must be
Quite a few daycare kids don’t like it at their daycare, and they never want to come back. I plan to change that. I yearn that the kids at my daycare want to come back and want to be with others to have fun with. To be excellent with kids, I’m required to be patient, calm, respectful, and a problem solver. I am positive that I’ll be excellent at all of this and even do more amusing activities as a daycare owner.

As a teenager, I focused more on mental health disorders: with questions such as “why do people self harm?”

My philosophy of Early Childhood Education is based on research that indicates that a child’s growth is developmental. Each and every child is unique in terms of life experiences, developmental readiness and cultural heritage.
Piaget and Vygotsky both believed that young children actively learn from their hands-on, day-to-day experiences. Jean Piaget portrayed children as "little scientists" who go about actively constructing their understanding of the world. His theories hold the essence of developmentally appropriate curriculum since Piaget believed that children undergo cognitive development in a stage-based manner, such that a very young child would not think about things the same way that an adult might. He referred to the knowledge and the manner in which the knowledge is gained as a schema. In order to build on the cognitive stages that children experience, informal learning opportunities, formal instructional sessions, and the utilized curriculum must all dovetail with a child's current cognitive stage so that assimilation of the new knowledge may occur. Working with what the child knows and experiences, parents and teachers create bridges to the next cognitive stage that are characterized by the child's accommodation. Piaget argued that optimal learning took place in this manner and that adults should avoid thinking that they can accelerate a child's development through the age-based, maturity-referenced stages. This is because a child works toward establishing an equilibrium between the assimilation and application of new knowledge and changing their behavior to accommodate their newly adopted schemas.

As my experience working with children grows, I would like to gain the skills necessary to run a preschool program. I have worked primarily with infants and toddlers in the past few months, which has become a new focus of mine. Working with such young children allows me to have a productive impact on their cognitive development. This opportunity has been a great encouragement and I hope to run an infant-toddler program within a larger school. My more immediate goals are centered around gaining experiences in different facilities. By exposing myself to different programs and their unique styles, I will be able to see how different procedures, like those for resolving conflict, work for children. With time, these ideas would be integrated into my own program.
It is important to understand the process of children’s thinking, and to understand the method the child used to find the answer. In the experiment I watched the child figure out the glasses had the same amount of water, and I was fascinated on what method he used. When he gave me his answer on why they were the same, I was able to identify it. Another thing that is important for teachers of young children to remember is you need to accept individual different in the developmental process of your students. Piaget’s theory says that all children go through the same series of development, however, all children go through development at different paces.
