The book I am J by Cris Beam uses a variety of plot elements to tell to story. Certain songs can reflect each of these elements. The introduction is similar to the song “Somewhere I Belong” by Linkin Park. In the introduction, J Silver is introduced. J is a 17 year old female-to-male transgender living in Manhattan. He is somewhat of an outcast because of the way he looks, and only has one friend. This is shown in the song with the line “I want to heal/I want to feel”. All J wants is to find a place where he can be himself. “I want to find something I've wanted all along/Somewhere I belong.” The song “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi has a message a lot like that of I Am J’s rising action. J decides that he needs to take control of his life, “It’s now or never”, and runs away from home with a homemade chest binder. He meets a girl named Blue and they quickly become friends. J starts working on his photography more, and begins to try to figure out who he is. “My heart is like an open highway”, the song says. …show more content…
J decides to contact Melissa, but his mom finds him and brings him home. J comes out to his mother and explains that he is still the same J he’s always been. “Oh you remember me, i remember you”. She says that his father won't accept him and sends him to stay with Melissa for a while. J is mad at his father for not understanding what he’s going through “I've been tearing down the interstate/Like some kind of bleeding cat” J starts at a new school and finally begins to make some new friends. Soon, he will turn 18 and be able to start taking testosterone to make himself appear more masculine. J decides to talk to his dad himself about who he is. His father doesn’t quite accept J, but tolerates his
The mood displayed in this song is much more consistent than that of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The mood throughout this song is to stay true to who you are no matter of how much pain it may cost you. This mood is very deep when you contemplate it because there are people in this world that never see their family since they had a conflict or feud. This song is trying to say to people to make up with your family or whatever is holding you back from being who you are. The tone set in this song by the 80’s rock band is to always be who you are and true to who you are no matter of what happened in the past because there is always going to be a future. Bon Jovi made really clever figurative language when writing this song. He used this form of writing in almost every line of the song, which makes the song be interpreted in many different ways by different people. The first example found in the song of figurative language says, “Like a blind dog without a bone, I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone.” This line shows that the main character of the song is confused of where they belong and are confused on where to head next. The following example of figurative language states, “Saving dimes.” You can conclude from this line that the main character of the song is tight on money and could possibly be living from pay to pay. We also learn from more figurative language used throughout the song that the

Galley told him,” Instead of agonizing about the things you can’t change, why don’t you try working on the things you can change.” Renee and Annette couldn’t just give the Alper family money straight out of their pocket or just wish Jeffrey’s illness away, but they could do a fundraiser and raise money to help Steven’s parents pay for Jeffery’s medical bill. While Steven is telling his parents about this great idea, his mom begins to feel very sick. Since she feels so sick, Steven and his dad have to go to Philadelphia to take Jeffrey to his treatments. During one of Jeffrey's treatments, Steven meets Samantha, a girl who teaches him to always be by his brother’s side. Steven and Samantha sat for hours talking and having fun eating snow cones. The day of the All City Band concert finally comes, and Steven gets three big surprises. The first surprise was all his friends decide to do something really special for Jeffrey, and shave their heads. The second surprise was his dad, who said he couldn’t come to the All City Band, but decided that this was a big deal for Steven and he shouldn’t miss it. Then the last surprise, which came right before Steven’s big solo performance, was the exact opposite from the first two good surprises. It was terrible especially since it came from Jeffrey. Steven learns a lot from this experience from having Jeffrey
Sonny’s passion in life was his love for music. This kept him going through his difficult times, “sometime you know, and it was actually when I was most out of the world, I felt I was in it, that I was with it, really, and I could play or didn’t really have to play.” He invited his brother to watch him play at a nightclub. Through the music Sonny played his life’s obstacles and triumph. His brother finally understood what Sonny went through and will continue to go through.
This song particularly is confusing in its general direction and message, but perhaps that is what makes it so tangible and why Weezer was so successful. It is relatable in that it is not an ethereal, untouchable piece of art, but still art in its’ own right, because Weezer plays it close to the vest by presenting the song more as a stream of consciousness; both jumbled and erratic; as opposed to a finely-tuned, edited entertainment
Jack is 18 years old. He graduates from high school, and gets a job in the movie theatre as a ticket seller and a projectionist. He has a girlfriend named Katy, and they are going to get married in November. When he meets Katy’s parents for the first time, it was at her sister's wedding, he walked in wearing a coat and tie. Jack’s friend LeFranc plays trumpet, and he does not know what to say to a girl. But Jack is getting tired of his friends, but does not complain. He is not very enthusiastic about his job, and feels he is trapped inside. He perhaps feels like he is in a jail, because it is mentioned in the text, that while selling the tickets he looks out in the day light through the metal bars, and the metal bars perhaps symbolizes that he feels trapped inside. In the end he decides to leave in middle of his work, and drive with Katy to Fountain Lake which he wanted in a long time. He changes to a happy and free person, and finally says, that he loves her.
Our experiences and life journey plays a big role in who we are and what our identity is, but its also internal. Tyler, like many of us, has struggled with issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts, feelings of inadequacy, and the feeling of being alone. These feelings and issues can often have a major effect on our identity and how we view the world, and it can often be seen in our creative expressions. Tyler Joseph found a way to channel these experiences through his music and connect with his listeners and acknowledge that life is not always easy and full of good things. Some specific lines from his music that resonates with young audiences come from the song “Screen” and say, “While you're doing fine, there's some people and I/Who have a really tough time getting through this life” (TØP lines 19-20). From just these lines alone it is clear that Tyler has had some ups and downs in his life that left memories or scars that stuck with him. These experiences, although unknown, had such a massive effect on him that he expresses them in his writing. They make up who he is now, and he uses his influence to let others know that they are not alone in what they’re feeling. Writing songs is not only a therapeutical way for him to speak his mind, but it is also a way to be honest with listeners and show them a raw and vulnerable side of someone that is often placed on a

This song represents the talents that i have and what I have that we call determination. the song is fun and addicting for the whole family and more. Talent is tricky subject to get into, because this can go into many categories. I don't have many talents, but i get by and get the job done. In oak hill high school i was a silent and did not interact with anyone during class and man did i have bad acne. That's in the past and I grew confidence and i'm a manager at kfc. So things are not bad as their were back in the day when i was young and free. That's not the subject at hand, talents are really helpful and can entertain for years to come. Having no talent would make a person into that business guy that nobody likes. I mean nobody wants to be left out (except emos). The artist artist 009 sound system can be a good contender on what a person wants to be when the grow up and goto college” You can do anything you want to” that phrase helps represents the talent of adapting which I found out to be the most helpful to me. anyways talent can be a major part of like and should be taken seriously one day that talent can get that job the everyone else

So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the nursery rhyme-like style of the song's chorus? Before we get to that, the song's emotional and psychological message must first be examined.
This is what they call imagery. The singer is saying be yourself do not follow others, be yourself and don’t let your perse stop you. Later on in the song it say,”The ice we skate is getting pretty thin/ The water’s getting warm so you might as well swim/ My worlds on fire. How about yours/ That’s the way I like it and i’ll never get bored.” (Smash Mouth) This entire line of the song describes stress and it will try to stop you from being you, but when he rose up and he made a difference and forgot all about the stress he once had. The first part of the lyric is a simile. The final lyric in the song that is important is,” Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas/ I need to get myself away from this place/ I said yep, what a concept/I could use a little fuel myself/ And we could all use a little change.”( Smash Mouth) What he means by this is people ask him what he did to become this famous and he said,”you have to follow your dreams.” This is an example of a
