Hypocrite In America

According to religoustolerence.org, over 30% of the human population is Christian. Christianity and religion in general has shaped the development of many civilizations in history. Many rulers claimed to have been bestowed the authority to rule by their deities while others went as far as to call themselves deities. Christianity has also had a strong influence on Western culture and is now practiced by people from all around the wall. Christianity most likely had a strong influence on Early Colonial America’s development.

Religion has had a severe influence on society and by looking at the diverse attitudes that Christians employed regarding their religion through time one is likely to observe that many individuals who interpret religion erroneously are likely to put across hostile behavior toward innocent individuals. History has seen several Christians who stood up to mainstream religious thinking and who lobbied in regard to alternative methods of being religious. The cases of Margery Kempe and Martin Luther are two of the most notable examples of Christians who dared to put across their personal beliefs during a time when the Church harshly criticized and oppressed individuals like them.

Humans through-out life will have thoughts and experiences that may take their judgment away from what their chosen God guided them to do. For example, in the Christian religion suicide is frowned upon by God. However, many faithful Christians have experienced things in their life that troubled and shook their faith in God to fix their problems to the point of going against him and taking their own life. There is also people that will defend their God’s beliefs with all of their ability; even when they feel no one else is on their side. For example, same sex marriage was legalized all across America. Although nearly 88% of the United States population believes that there is a God, this does not make them all religious people (Religious Beliefs and Practices). Religion is defined as being the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. The reason why many people might believe in a god or gods is because God is a social construction; the talk of a god is in all forms of media and everyday life, including the Pledge of Allegiance in the United States. For many people who are religious, like myself, they are taught that there is a God from an early age by various social institutions, including their family, peers, media, and in some cases, private schools.

There is a girl on the streets. She has blisters on her feet, holes in her clothes, and tangles in her hair. She is dirty because she doesn’t have the necessities to take a shower. People walk by her saying things under their breath. Occasionally, someone actually mutters a few words to her about her appearance. She doesn’t respond, but rather just takes the insults like stabbing knives. People continue to walk past the girl like she is trash on the street. Yet people from other countries think the United States is paradise. It is a dream to live in the United States, but there on the street is a girl who is a prime example of the hypocrisy that exists. The problem is that our society doesn’t allow for that paradise situation. There are so many problems that exist in our society: there are kids that don’t have parents, a high amount of people in the United States go days without food, and many are without places to sleep.
