Hypocrite In America

One sees people of faith acting righteous and sin free but, behind closed doors, the same people are as sinful as everyone else. The bible outlines how Christian people are to live; it also holds the guidelines and morals that are so often forgotten yet still used to badger others through black lettered sings, typed slander, and words projected over speaker. One who goes against something they tell others not to do is called a hypocrite, and the worst kind of hypocrite is religious. In the United States, 78.4% of Americans are Christians, ranging from Baptist to Catholic to Mormon ("Religious"). Towns, no matter their size, all contain churches where people flock to hear the word of God through song and sermon; television and radio stations broadcast much of the same on a daily basis, adding more on Sundays. Religion is everywhere and all feel its influence in some way. On small town highways and the streets of large cities, protests against things such as evolution, abortion, and segregation have occurred throughout history. One looks into these protests to see that religious people make up most, if not all, of the crowd. Christians are taught by the bible to not judge others and to treat them with respect; however, in these times, one often sees these people belittling others for who they are, what they …show more content…

Though the old testament of the bible states these are sins, the bible also says that Christians are to love one another no matter what. Along with this, the bible states, “When they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said ‘He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone”’ ("John"). Often one sees these people shunning those of faiths and preferences contradictory to those of the church.
