The religion of Scientology is a very controversial topic all over the world and is even considered a cult by many. Those who chose to participate in the beliefs and practices of this faith form their own unique culture with other like-minded individuals. The purpose of my research is to gain insight into the world of Scientology by closely examining the lifestyles and opinions of its followers. What are the lives of Scientologists like and how does it affect them psychologically?

When many think of the worst hurricanes in the united states they think of hurricane katrina and that's what many believe but that sadly is incorrect .On September 8th in 1900 a casual saturday morning one of the most horrific hurricanes struck its way into galveston texas in which is referred to as “The Great Hurricane Galveston”. The great Hurricane Galveston is one of the most deadliest natural disasters in american history. It happened to kill between 6 and 12,000 people. It was a category 4 storm with winds up to 145 mph . The storm arose about 15 feet high within hours. This severe storm was situated about 9 feet above sea level ,numerous amounts of homes were desto about 3,600 buildings were destroyed.

When most people think the of the Gulf of Mexico, the thought of surf probably never crosses their mind. However, the gulf is capable of producing quality surf more than you would think. From hurricanes to cold fronts, the gulf can receive waves from various weather patterns.

A hurricane is an advanced tropical storm with winds of 74 miles per hour or more and can cause massive damage to people, wildlife, and structures. The people were not sure just how powerful the hurricane actually was because they did not have the modern technology that we have today. The winds of a certain hurricane can rip trees right out of the ground and even move buildings to another location. Hurricanes can cause dune destruction and beach erosion. It became a tropical storm on August 15 off the coast of South Carolina, then as a hurricane traversed eastern North Carolina. It weakened over the north Atlantic Ocean before transitioning into an extratropical cyclone on August 20. Its remnants remained identifiable until crossing the British Isles and dissipating on August 30. The aftermath of this hurricane was completely unbelievable and devastating, being that it was the most high-priced storm ever recorded in United States History. Rebuilding the community took several years and even after everything was rebuilt, citizens of South Florida, would never forget Hurricane Andrew.

Millions were made homeless by the huge waves that swept houses and cars away. It was estimated that the costs to repair all damage would be at approximately $5 billion.

I have always found the ocean to be a very intriguing part of the Earth. There are infinitely many discoveries that have yet to be made about it. My fascination with the ocean sparked the idea to do my class paper on hurricanes and what they are along with their effects. I remember hearing about all the damages from Hurricane Katrina after it hit the coast near New Orleans. The only information I really know about them is what is briefly covered on the news. I thought it would be interesting to discover the true effects they can have on not only people that endure them, but also the environment as it gets ripped to shreds by the plethora of winds and water.

Tornados and hurricanes are often thought of as very similar, even at times identical. Both are destructive and can kill people, yet at the same time there must be a difference, because why would they be called different things if they were the same? Well, although both hurricanes and tornados have many things in common, some may be surprised to know how different they can be.
