The New York Times article “Pummeled Florida Staggers Toward Long Recovery” by Alexander Burns informs readers on the controversy surrounding the power outages in Florida. The author explains how right after Hurricane Irma weekend it had started to head north of florida, being that it was just leaving somewhere between Miami to Jacksonville. In the meantime florida has power outages throughout the cities, there are people are without no electricity, and to even get back electricity it could take days to months. In this case florida has so many damages with houses being in pieces, homes flooded, every thing ruined with only some things are salvageable and storm damages costing between $20-$50 billion. For other people in florida who didn't believe they needed to be evacuated and who thought they could wait it out, it soon will be necessary for some residents to evacuate. As there may also be tornado warnings because of the historical levels of flooding. With the storm later heading north it's is cautioned to residence when they return home because the powerlines
time of crisis by R. David Paulison, who unlike Brown, has had a career focused on disaster
Author’s Primary Claim and Summary of Main Points: R.J. Matson alludes in this cartoon that just as hurricanes hit the eastern coast, a “hurricane” of immigration policies, congress disagreement, and public backlash is about to hit the Whitehouse as President trump makes decisions regarding the DACA Program.

For high school juniors college starts in two years and now is the time that students need to start considering options for college. Students need to think whether they would want to stay in-state or go out-of-state and what they want to study. College is an important aspect in life to help students prepare for the future; some people will go to college for four years, eight years, or more, but they first need to weigh the options. There are two schools that a prospective medical student can consider; the University of South Florida or the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. The University of South Florida (USF) and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) both have medical programs and have differences in student life, location, and tuition.
The University of Florida is around two miles far from downtown Gainesville, a school town reinforced by the school's almost 50,000 understudies. The Florida Gators sports groups contend in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference, and are bolstered by mascots Albert and Alberta the Alligators. The Gator football group, which contends in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium — generally called "The Swamp" — is especially infamous. The group turned into the namesake of well known games drink Gatorade in 1966, after rookies Gators explored different avenues regarding the novel refreshment. The yearly Gator Growl, held every Homecoming weekend, has been known as the biggest understudy run gusto rally on the planet. Around 15 percent of understudies are included in the school's 60 or more cliques and sororities. First year recruits don't need to live on grounds, however around 80 percent select to do as such. All understudies can share in Gator Nights, held each Friday, which offer free late-night
Hurricane Katrina is one of the U.S’s most catastrophic events, and this was due to the number of people who were killed and displaced. Most of those effected most harshly by the storm were those that were of the poor community, which in New Orleans was mostly black. These people were not able to evacuate the storm, and also had the most trouble to try to rebuild after the storm. Tia Lessin and Carl Deal’s documentary on Hurricane Katrina, Trouble the Water, portrays Hurricane Katrina in a different light, one that constantly get ignored by the popular media. By answering five main questions based on this documentary, a close to accurate portrayal of Hurricane Katrina can be made.

Due to the damages from Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. I feel as Houstonians we should be worry about the federal aid that is being disturbed to the people that are in need of help because it could be a possibility that they may receive less than what they expected due to the fact that there are so many people that needs help. I feel that these two events, Hurricane Harvey and Irma should be evaluated carefully based on how much the cost of damages will be fixed that was left behind from these two storms. Furthermore, Mayor Sylvester Turner should not increase tax for Houston homeowners to help pay Harvey relief and rebuilding the city. Although, he is doing it for a good cause to help others that are in need but, increasing tax will
I choose to attend the University of Florida for the culture of community that exists on the campus. The University of Florida has always been a school that wants its students to succeed, but what is the most interesting aspect is that the students push each other together to achieve their goals. We live in a society where it is a "Man vs Man" world and that only one can succeed. Here at the University of Florida, we challenge those social norms and try to create a pathway that fits for everyone. Here, we just don't have dreams, because as gators, we make those dreams plans and those plans into reality. Being able to accomplish or do something that makes your life fulfilling is what made me want to come to the University of Florida and continue to give back to the place that gave me the chance to improve myself and help others improve too.
Hurricane Katerina and Hurricane Sandy were both major weather events in United States History. Causing millions of dollars in damage and 1000’s of lives lost. Could these events have been different with proper planning and preparation or would the outcome still be the same. I will talk about some of the silmarties from both events. Hurricane Harvey has proven to be one of the most detrimental natural disasters in U.S. history. Harvey has dumped an estimate of 27 trillion gallons of water on Texas as well as Louisiana and the flooding has continued to affect large areas of Texas. This has caused at the very least, $23 billion dollars of property damage analyzed by satellite imagery. This number however represents the market value and not the storm damage which is known to be an extremely small percentage of what the storm can reach since the flooding is incomplete, shown by satellite image as well. The satellite imagery has been compiled and researched by the University of Colorado. They have gathered that there is flooding across 234 square miles of Harris country as well as 51 square miles of Galveston Country. This weighs in as one-eighths of each county’s land are and over 285 square miles of flooding overall. Of all the flood imagery, the property parcel maps found that the flooding had engulfed at least 30,000 properties within just the two counties. Of that only 26% was deemed as land value and 18% was residential property affected.

Answer: Property and casualty insurance protects property (houses, cars, boats, and so on) against losses due to accidents, fire, disasters, and other calamities. Property and casualty policies tend to be short-term contracts and, that’s why the subject to frequent renewal is, and one more characteristic feature is the absence of savings component. Property and casualty premiums are based on the probability of sustaining the loss. To estimate the key determinant of the price of an insurance policy, i.e. risks, insurance companies take third-party proceedings that develop models of catastrophe loss probabilities. Based on the numbers form Exhibit 5 of the case we see that
