“To know the way, we go the way, we do the way.” (Benjamin Hoff pg 158). To find your way one must know where they are going and simply go with it. To find the Hundred Acre woods we just have to know the way go the way and live that way. If we live like the Taoist one is sure to find it and to feel it inside their heart.
The Levi Jordan Plantation was established in 1848 and was abandoned in about 1888. Some artifacts that were found on the plantation were Coins, Rings, Bone Saw Frame, and Slave Tag. Some caches were found, in them were shells, animal bones, wine bottles, copper, metal objects, cast iron pans, grapes, and tobacco pipes. Some pots were also found in what is thought to be the Blacksmith's Cabin, next to the Hearth. It was probably used to bake clay and for warmth. In the blacksmith's Cabin Bullet Molds, Metal Tools, Arrowheads, and some toys were found, leading people to believe that there were children there. The arrowheads were probably not used for hunting because
There are many unique types of animals in the Blackland Prairie; here are a few examples of animals in the Blackland Prairie. One example of one of these animals is the nine-banded armadillo. The nine-banded armadillo is a large, short and brown armadillo with a long tail and nine lines on its shell (therefore its name). They typically eat grubs, insects, berries, and eggs. This scaly critter lives in most of Texas besides the west, they typically live in woods, brush, grasslands and forests. Another one of the many examples of animals in this diverse ecoregion is the black-tailed prairie dog. These chubby, stubby, brown, and furry balls of cuteness live along the border of Mexico. It lives in dry, flat, sparsely vegetated grasslands. These rodents like to consume things like plants, insects, seeds, and grasses. These items make up most of their diet. They are habitat modifiers just like beavers, they build burrows underground close to each other. These are called towns.

Millford plantation is a historic place located on SC 261, west of Pinewood, SC. Built in 1839-1841, Millford Plantation is considered by many to be the finest example of Greek revival residential architecture in America. The house is located in such a remote section of rural SC that it comes to a surprise to first time visitors, who must drive over miles of dirt roads and through thick forests to reach the house. The house has massive columns, sixteen foot windows, a domed rotunda enclosing a spectacular staircase. All these impressive features are inherent in Greek Rival architecture (Classical American Homes).
In 1941 the North Carolina General Assembly designated the flower of the dogwood tree as the official state flower. In actuality, three species of dogwoods exist in North Carolina. The alternate-leaf dogwood, which is common in the mountains and rare in the northern piedmont, has leaves that are simple and elliptical but are alternate on their stems (hence the name).
In the town of Coalwood having a dream and an ambition is very important for the younger generation coming up. Most of the males in the town end up working in the mines because that is the only place they can work because they did have their minds set on a dream to get out of the town. After seeing a rocket launched off into space Sonny believed that building rockets could get him out of Coalwood and he would not have to be in the shadow of his brother or follow in his father's footsteps by working at the mines. While building rockets him and his friends Roy Lee and Sherman also start to believe that with rocket building they can get out of Coalwood and get a scholarship to a college. Soon after Sonny meets Quentin who is a so called genius and he starts to help Sonny with his
The summers are warm and short. The winters are cold and long. Precipitation ranges from more than 500 mm per year in the north to less than 300 mm in the south of the Prairies. The winter mean temperatures for the coldest months vary from -9.4°C in Lethbridge and -18.3°C in Winnipeg. In contrast, the mean temperature for the warmest month in Winnipeg is 19.7°C. The grasses tend to have long roots which penetrate deep into the soil where they could find moisture. The northern edge of this ecozone marks the beginning of the transition into forest areas. Prior to agricultural settlement in the late 19th century, the Prairie ecozone was the home of millions of bison. Today, mammals of this ecozone include mule and white-tailed deer, coyote, pronghorn (south-central portion), badger, whitetail jackrabbit, Richardson's ground squirrel, northern pocket gopher and the prairie dog. Unique bird species include ferruginous hawk, greater prairie chicken, sharp-tailed grouse, American avocet, burrowing owl, great blue heron, black-billed magpie and Baltimore oriole. Plains grizzlies, swift fox and greater prairie chickens are a few of animals to disappear from the

My perception and interpretation of GhostFood have undoubtedly evolved more times than I can count. Participating in public art and engaging with strangers from various backgrounds has been a bizarre, risky, yet enlightening experience that I have found academically enriching and personally impactful. The very strangeness of GhostFood has thrusted me into the culturally colorful, yet much to be explored and understood Baltimore.
‘The way’ is cluttered with constant imagery of contradictory views which are both compelling and insightful, through which we are taken on a journey, our final destination being the true meaning of life. In a world where we are all yearning for the meaning for life, true harmony and real balance it is no surprise that the Tao Te Ching is a very haunting piece of literature that holds the reader in an almost trans like state of mind as it attempts to portray the way to accomplish the above.
In my younger years, I have played a couple sports like soccer and baseball. As I grew up, baseball has always stood out the most to me. Something about running the bases and hitting RBI’s brings a thrill that no other sport can give me. So I play, and I play with everything I have because that’s what baseball makes me want to do. Sure in basketball and soccer I play hard and do what I can, but I know when I’m playing baseball that’s where I excel and exceed my own expectations. I started when I was five and have loved it ever since. Some things have kept me from it in the past but I can’t help but play.
In our society, we tend to solely rely on the knowledge that experts express and religiously follow them. It is quite evident as we tend to categorize these individuals, for example a person who is a historian will not be asked the question "why is the sky blue" nor would we think it is appropriate to ask him. Looking at the prescribed title, the terms access, facts and experts are too ambiguous in their nature. To define them, access indicates the experts’ ability to use such as the Internet for answers, fact are ideas that are considered indisputable which everyone agrees upon, disagreement is when two or more interpretations clash against each other and experts are people who have conducted research to gain more insight in their
In order to become a virtuous person an individual must become one with the Tao, an example of a good life is found in Chuang Tzu – Basic writings, “If you do good, stay away from fame. If you do evil, stay away from punishments. Follow the middle; go by what is constant, and you can stay in one piece, keep yourself alive, look after your parents, and live out your years.” (Section three, p46). In order to become one with the Tao and individual must understand the Way and example of the Way “…For this reason, whether you point to a little stalk or a great pillar, a leper or the beautiful Hsi-shih, things ribald and shady or things grotesque and strange, the Way makes them all into one.” (Section two, p. 36) The Way is having the ability to consider all things one. Looking at the creatures of the world without bias and treating everything and everyone as equal. In order to follow the Way one must gain enlightenment, to gain enlightenment one must heavy focus on meditation. Taoists believe that time is cyclical, not linear as many in the West believe, therefore time repeats itself, has no beginning and no end. Tao is considered to be the first cause of the universe, and is the force that
I personally connected to this dialogue because I have had previous experiences and discussions centered on the death penalty. I did not realize the extend to which I despise the death penalty until some of my peers presented their arguments as to why they support the death. I found this very ironic because I previously supported the death penalty. One moment changed my entire perspective on the issue and made me realize the evilness behind the death penalty. My ten-year-old brother asked me last year why we have the death penalty. As I attempted to explain to him, the arguments for the death penalty did not make sense. When you are forced to explain something to a child, you began to realize the extent to which society has already shaped your thinking on an issue and you begin to justify such issues. There was no means for me to explain why we have the death penalty without justifying that getting revenge in the form of justice is acceptable. The death penalty is very hypocritical and reinforces the concept of retaliation and individualism. We tell children during school, if someone hurts you, you do not hurt them back. However, we are using murder, as a means of showing murder is wrong. That makes absolutely no sense.
