Human tracking a powerful word with a lot of meaning. I had a mindset when I walked into that conference I went to this conference to learn and get some insight what was human trafficking and how the state is dealing with this problem and how I can help. It was a eye opening exercise that gave me goosebumps and an urge to help. To the introduction from Jeremy Norwood, hearing from the state Represent and attending three workshops lectures from Dave Manville, Matt osborne and Deja Williams. Also it was interesting hearing from A survivor Joyce Haskett.
I learned a lot from the human trafficking conference The introduction Norwood began was amazing. By defining Human trafficking because I knew there was sex trafficking but I forgot there is labor trafficking too. I also learned the three main words Force, Fraud and Coercion. During his interview Norwood talked about “human trafficking exists because people believe it doesn't have where we live” I think that what makes human trafficking to spreads its roots because people act civil and behave like a good family by ruining this disgusting plan. I also learned about the different types of venues sex trafficking it is kind of scary to think because people who run this can be low key about their locations and we could be living next to this horror and won't have a clue. I learned if i see something wrong or see some sign I will contact one of the numbers Norwood provide to help a person to get out of this nightmare.
It was very helpful to here from the State represent Bronna Kahle. I had a little knowledge about the trafficking uses websites to target the people. It was shocking to here how the numbers are increasing and the law passed just few years ago. It was shocking to hear the national human trafficking reported 7500 since last years. Kahle shared to decrease the numbers we need to increase awareness and do a commercial demand. After the state represents we heard from Aaron Zraik he was amazing and it was like a taste of reality. His speech was so powerful and it just woke my spirit up to help in someway. I had a chance to attend three workshops it gain some knowledge about trafficking. The first workshop was about forced labor by David Manville.
We fail to prevent it, discuss it, or even acknowledge it. However, inaction will only exacerbate a problem that should not be allowed to continue. Gardner-Webb University “Release the Captives” club is an on campus anti-human trafficking club that raises awareness and funding for anti human trafficking organizations. But we still need help. There are a number of ways you can help us in stopping human trafficking: become involved in human anti-trafficking awareness, support any anti-trafficking organization that you feel comfortable with, pray for all (victims, responders, persecutors, and profiteers) involved in human trafficking, and continue to pray that God’s justice will break out in the
This research is exploratory because the researchers attempt to point out social trends that play a role in becoming a human trafficking victim. It goes beyond the mere description of human trafficking its causes and effects, the information that the researcher provide might be able to prevent the crime. Or at very least, educate potential victims. This is pure research because the researchers want to expand the body of knowledge of human trafficking. There has been substantial research in regards to victims of human trafficking, this particular study lists a few previous research components.
Many organizations have formed to establish several resolutions for combating the issue of human trafficking , both locally and nationally. I chose to investigate two existing social awareness campaigns located in Ohio. The reasons I decided to explore these two organizations is because of the obvious, that my classmates and I are in the state of Ohio but overall, it is due to the fact that this state rank's number five in the nation for human trafficking. There are explanations behind the ranking of Ohio for this issue. The first explanation is due to the inner city centers and country counties, which included a big immigrant population. The second explanation is due to five main highways located throughout Ohio. These highways make it convenient for human traffickers (Ohio State Bar Association, 2014).
Advocating for better laws is very important It is still a challenge for stakeholders to combat human trafficking. It is difficult for the stakeholders to combat human trafficking because of the disagreement of whether a human trafficking victims should be treated as a victim or suspect, or if human trafficking a global or regional issue (Kendall & Funk, 2016). With the development of better laws, the victims can be aided get out of the life style of human trafficking. It is very difficult for a victim to get out of human trafficking due to the threats of harming the victim and the people that are close to them. With better laws, education programs about human trafficking can be developed for the victims and people to recognize the signs of a person being a victim of human trafficking. Another reason that laws need to be developed are with the development of the laws the victims could be able to get restitution to be able to get back on their feet and be able to survive being a human trafficked victim. Hotline postings would not be available unless the development of laws to get the public involved in recognizing that a person is being human trafficked and if the hotline was not available the victims themselves could call the hotline to find out how to get help of the situation, but also to let law enforcement
The goal of the taskforce will be accomplished by carrying out of effective training sessions which follow the guidelines of evidence based research. Through effective training sessions to include lectures, spoken word, and breakout sessions. All participants will gain a significant increase in knowledge on the overall issue of trafficking in the Philadelphia region. The training will be evaluated by administering an after training
I would have never imagined that in my community young men, women, and children are being forced into the trafficking industry. Each and every city in the world has a specific place in which targets are most commonly picked out. Barbara Wheeler, the state representative from Illinois, informed me on the issues of human trafficking in Illinois, Crystal Lake included. She described how massage parlors in Illinois are used as ways to bring in women, to be forced to perform sex acts for the customers (Wheeler). The fact that this is happening so close to my home is very frightening. I cannot fathom how difficult this is for these women to go through and not have a say in what is to be done. One of the biggest questions I had running through my mind at the beginning of this project was why aren’t we (the community) doing anything to stop and help these women?
Human trafficking is a serious problem in modern society. In fact, the United Nations has referred to it as “one of the gravest human rights violations of our times” (“Secretary - General Calls Human Trafficking”). It is a fast growing industry that affects millions. No gender, age, or status is spared from the cruelty that is trafficking. To stress this point again, human trafficking is not just a problem of the “world” or “United States”, in general. As previously seen, it strikes very close to home, affecting hundreds of men, women, and children of our own community. In fact, “North Carolina ranked as a top-10 state for human trafficking with Charlotte being the top destination. It is estimated that more than 1,700 girls are trafficked
Human Trafficking is serious, you may think that it doesn't affect you, you may think that you can’t do anything about it because the world of Human Trafficking is so much bigger than we as humans can comprehend. Over 27 million people are still trapped in Human Trafficking, and those are the documented people. This is the largest number of slaves ever recorded in history. The majority of trafficking happens in cities like our own. In fact, Houston is one of the top hubs in America when it comes to Human Trafficking. Homeless children – desperate for food, shelter and comfort – are
I feel attending one of these meetings, would be beneficial for myself and Education others when a conversation comes up dealing with human trafficking. I myself did not realize how many different names human trafficking falls under, and I would not have guessed some of the red flags before taking this class, and how to help victims. I feel the best that can come out of a situation is having more people, wanting to help the victims and change the
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that human trafficking is an incredibly relevant issue today that must be halted.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Human Trafficking. What it is, where it is and who gets affected.
Preview of main points: I want to make everyone aware of what human trafficking is, how to identify, and ways we can stop/present human trafficking.
Many Americans remain ignorant of human trafficking within the United States, believing that this inhumane act only occurs in third-world countries. No one likes to believe that it can be happening in our own country let alone in some of our own states and cities. Society rarely takes the time to understand these women and what lead them into trafficking and what factors contributed to them staying in trafficking. This study seeks to voice the ability to raise awareness, enhance penalties for the traffickers/violator’s, and offer rehabilitation for the victims.
Human trafficking of U.S. citizens and foreign nations persist and thrive for various reasons, one is the low risk involved. This is when the community is unaware of this issue, when the government/community institutions aren’t properly trained to respond, and the biggest reason yet is when law enforcement does not investigate and prosecute the crime, human traffickers perceive little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. The next reason why human trafficking is so successful is because the high profits; when individuals are willing to buy commercial sex, they create a market and make it profitable for the traffickers to sexually exploit children and adults. (“Why”)
many academics, public officials, law enforcement authorities, and the news media believe human trafficking to be among the most tragic and horrendous transnational criminal activities facing us today. Victims are typically transported from
