Sex trafficking began in the 1700s in the United States. It hasn’t been stopped because it continues to increase over the years. Even though the law enforcement and people around the world could be strong enough to stop human trafficking, I believe this situation needs to be more focused on and stopped as soon as possible. Because Human Trafficking is increasing rapidly and Oklahoma is a cross-way for sex trafficking due to the interstates such as I-35, I-40 and I-44.

This practice is unfortunately as old as ancient times. We live in a society that knows little about trafficking and the amount of activity of this crime is still super alive today. Human trafficking is a worldwide problem that needs to be stopped before it gets out of hand. People all around the world are being abused physically and emotionally. There are many types of human trafficking, but two most known are sex trafficking and “human slavery”. Human trafficking is an issue that affects a wide range of people and the MN legislature should create harsher laws that make consequences for these actions by the time of 2019. Due to the issues of human trafficking it has become a problem that needs to be solved.

Imagine being taken from the comfort of your house and family. Then envision that you are forced to either inject or ingest as drugs to give sexual pleasure to one person while the other reaps financial benefits. You are experiencing such atrocity at the same moment in which your loved ones are mourn your loss. Eventually, you are unrecognizable and affected by traumatizing experiences. The effects that you frequently feel are numb and now you are suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. This is the reality that many endure on daily basis. It is caused by the constant practice of human trafficking.

Human trafficking has been a controversial issue for many years. There are different types of trafficking, which helps makes it a widely diverse issue. In Thailand, traffickers rely on the poor desperate people of other countries as well as their own to fulfill their needs financially, physically, and emotionally. Thailand has various reasons why they use human trafficking; sex exploitation, forced labor, and obtaining their organs for an organ transplant. Sex exploitation has been used by mainly men for a long time. They choose both women and children to violate, sometimes even men. The prettier the woman is the more she is worth. All men, woman, and children could be forced into labor. This varies from what the owner wants from them. People can also choose to go and work for them because they think this is their only way of making money, but they usually do not see much of it. Finally, others purchase them just for their organs. There are very long waiting lists on some organs, by the time one comes about the person in need of the organ has already passed away. There are a number of steps and reasons that are involved in human trafficking. With all of these issues of; sex exploitations, and forced labor, and organ trafficking, the trafficked can become physically and mentally injured.

Similar to social workers our local police department must be equipped and trained to handle sensitive issues of human trafficking. Most trafficked women are sex slaves and confused as prostitutes, so instead of feeling like they have been saved victims they are dehumanized and arrested. The importance of educating law enforcement is to get rid of the stigma that all women willfully participate in prostitution, which is not true at all. If these officers have training they would be able to better identify victims. Human trafficking, specifically sex trafficking has become a worldwide epidemic. Research for domestic victims is lacking and services are sparse, in part due to the inability of professionals to identity victims. Victims require several services from an array of providers such as mental health counseling, housing, medical and job training. The following paper examines literature that is available and hopes to devise a program that will benefit victims and aid them into a being a successful member of their community and to gain a recovery from their past experiences. The proposed program will address housing, life skills and mental health counseling along with resources for legal aid. Victims will also receive case management to help them navigate their new lives and to find additional resources.

Human Trafficking is something that goes around all over the world. In this essay I will discuss what human trafficking is, how it is done and give three countries who are mainly known for this kind of inhuman act. The three countries are countries that are vey much known and are known as Bangladesh, Brazil and Ghana. All three countries are known for tourism so human trafficking is expected to be in act, especially if its over populated and having different people from different countries coming in and out. Human Trafficking is not something that should be promoted or celebrated and should be put to a stop. It is not fair for people to be taken against their will from their families and friends. Men, women, and even kids are being taken, so a person should never just think they’re special if not caught they are blessed instead. Human trafficking is sickening and a disgrace to every nation and country possible.

International trafficking can be forced child labor or prostitution, whereas domestic is, for the most part, child prostitution (Levy). Women and children from all over the world are taken off the streets and forced to become something most people could hardly comprehend, a slave. Human trafficking is not from one source and because of this, one solution cannot fix modern-day slavery. Human trafficking has been in the United States from the conception of the nation; human trafficking is not a problem that will go away if ignored. Modern slavery is an issue in the United States, and if this problem is to ever be eradicated the citizens of this nation must fight against human trafficking.
