I. ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
An organization is a complex, competitive world. It is only loosely held together. In the study of organization, there is the difference between the micro and macro approaches. In the study of human behavior in organizations, the conceptual foundation seems to have received relatively little attention. The organizational behavior reflective of the inner sensitivity of society, as well as individual’s personal interests. It imposes its own imperatives on the management process. There is a greater range of opportunities in doping things with a work group.
Each individual within the group has a different degree of commitments to the work goals, as well as unique personal, idiosyncratic needs which the organization must satisfy accordingly. Nevertheless, it is expected that individuals’ freedom will be limited as they strengthen and broaden the organizational authority. Within the work group are sensitive issues, like equal employment opportunities, protection of human rights and others.
Moreover, there are certain characteristics of group behavior.
Change starts with the goal. Change and progress relate to organizational growth, which threaten accustomed tranquility among the individuals in the organizational process. In any stage of organizational growth, people are the limiting factor. Undoubtedly, technology has so far not produced important improvement in human behavior in the organization.
While the organizational growth is the result of the orderly and effective management of the organization’s resources, it also creates a certain degree of uncertainty within the organization. Also, it may reflect a certain degree of self-righteousness and unfortunate display of power and authority.
Human behavior in organizations may be affected by the individual’s motivation. All human activity is directed toward satisfying certain needs. Motivation must be
It is reasonable to suggest that the overwhelming majority of humankind has either been part of or required the services of organizations at some point in time during their lives, and many of these consumers will likely testify that although every organization is different in some ways, they all share some common characteristics. Furthermore, because all organizations are comprised of mere humans, they are subject to the same behavioral whims, weaknesses and vagaries that also characterize the human condition from day to day and over time. To gain further insights into these concepts, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer-reviewed and scholarly literature to develop a comprehensive and robust definition of organizational behavior. This review is followed by a summary of the research and salient findings in the conclusion.

Within an organization, a work group is usually the primary source of social identity for employees. The nature of the group to which they belong may affect their performance at work and may influence their relationships with people outside the organisation.
“Inspired by the International Red Cross movement established to provide assistance to wounded soldiers, the American Red Cross was established in 1881 by Clara Barton and a number of her acquaintances” (Peerbolte, 2011, p. 17). The mission of the American Red Cross remains largely focused on military service members. However, the organization has expanded on its initial purpose. “The American Red Cross was mandated by a modified congressional charter in 1905 to provide assistance to those wounded by war, provide communication between military

Abstract Organizational behavior, in a broad sense, is the psychological study that provides the necessary guidelines to analyze the conduct of both individual and group performance in a given association or organization. The main objectives of this particular field of study are to characterize, prognosticate and maintain human behavior in the work environment by providing a scientific avenue through which managers build better professional relationships with workers in order to promote the general success of an organization. Because each individual has his or her unique character traits, organizational behavior, in order make effective impacts on various types of people in the work place, would need to address every individual on a case
Organizational theory studies the various variables that influence the behavior of an individual(s) working within an organization, but also, “prescribes how work and workers ought to be organized and attempts to explain the actual consequences of organizational behavior (including individual actions) on work being performed and on the organization itself.” (Milakovich & Gordon, 2013, p.145). Of the many approaches to organizational analysis, Classical Organizational theory has been, even to this day, extremely influential by focusing on more formal concepts such as bureaucracy, rationalization and scientific management. Although, over the decades organizational management has taken on a more human relations approach to getting more productivity out of employees, it is contributors like Max Webber, Fredrick Taylor, and Luther Gulick that laid down the basic foundation organizational theories by recognizing the need for control and procedures.
This essay aims to discuss why teams and groups are seen as essential features of contemporary organisations. Firstly, it will examine what exactly constitutes a group or team, then it will go on to discuss different types of groups and teams which exist within an organisation. Next it will explain why groups and teams are key to contemporary organisations in particular and finally, it will discuss the disadvantages associated with groups within organisations.
In any group or team there are always challenges to face but in today’s world, more company’s are moving to group or teams as a way to handle large projects along with promoting more diversity in the workplace. “A group is defined as two or more individual interacting and independent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives” (Stephen Robbins, 2007 p.1). Groups and teams are becoming more popular because the idea is that more heads are better, and the quality of work improves with group and teams working together on a
The study of Organizational Behavior (OB) is related to individuals, group of people working together in teams. The study becomes more challenging when situational factors interact. No two individuals are likely to behave in the same manner in a particular work situation. It is the predictability of a manager about the expected behavior of an individual. There are no absolutes in human behavior. It is the human factor that is contributory to the productivity hence the study of human behavior is important. Great importance therefore must be attached to the study.
Organisational Behaviour (OB) is the study of human behaviour in an organisation. It is a multidisciplinary field devoted to the understanding individual and group behaviour, interpersonal processes and organisational dynamics. OB is important to all management functions, roles and skills. Since organisations are built up levels - individual, group and an organizational system as a whole, it is important for managers to understand human behaviour in order to meet the organizations overall goals. I found several key learning areas that are meaningful, interesting and relevant to my work over the course of studying this unit. These key learning areas have not only expanded and improved my view of organisational behaviour but they also have
All work organisations operate more effectively as a team. Each person's role can be treated as individual but ultimately will be more successful when integrated with others. It is imperative that there is good communication between all parties, acceptance of diversity and harmonious unity.
The organization that I am a member of is a church organization. Churches have become more business minded, in order to stay afloat and to reach today’s diverse culture. There was once a time when the church was made up of one group of people. Today they have become more diverse in population.
