This program is designed for the unit of HSC English Standard which aims to develop students understanding, competency and appreciation of the English language. In studying this unit, students will be provided with the opportunity to explore various textual forms so as to become reflective, insightful and effective communicators in an ever-changing society. It is becoming apparent that our classes are now more culturally diverse, thus our teaching practices should reflect those changes. The demographics of this English class is made of up 24 male students of mixed academic abilities from multicultural backgrounds. It is single-sex public system school, located in Western Sydney. This allocated time will be made up of 45 hours focusing on the Area of Study, being Discovery, and the remaining 75 hours will be divided amongst three modules. These three modules are Experience through Language, Close Study of Text and Texts and Society. In each of the modules, an elective will be selected for further investigation with the prescribed text in mind. For this program, the elective for Module A will be “Distinctive Voices”, Module B will be a stand-alone study of a close text and for Module C the elective chosen shall be “Exploring Transitions”. The Area of Study, is the common content requiring students to investigate and examine a variety of texts to explore the concept of Discovery. On the other hand, the modules focus upon certain features linked to the formation of meaning and exploring the impacts of texts in relation to different audiences and purpose. The text requirements of this course will be a close study of at least four different types of prescribed texts that will be drawn from each of the following categories, they being prose fiction, drama, poetry and nonfiction to provide a broader scope of literary analysis. In some ethical and legal respects a pregnant woman and her fetus can be considered separate. Both the woman and the fetus are ordinarily affected by the well-being of one another for as long as each of them live. The ethical and legal issues are challenged deeply in cases where the well-being of the fetus and the mother appear to be in conflict. Our society struggles with identifying cases where the pregnant woman’s interests and/or behaviors might put her fetus at risk. Criminal and/or civil commitments should be used to bar pregnant women from exposing their fetuses to risk.
The demographics of Australia are constantly changing and the rise in families from many different countries settling in Australia is continually increasing. This is evident in the growing number of students requiring English as an Additional Language (EAL/D) support throughout Australian schools. EAL/D students often struggle with adapting to the Australian school setting due to a number of factors including their lack of understanding in the English language and their own individual experiences such as culture, beliefs, values and experiences (Hertzberg, 2012, pp. 15-21). The essays include a short story, “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros whose main idea is that there is not a correlation between age and emotional evolution. “College Pressures” by William Zinsser argues that college students are under excessive stress to plan their future and succeed. The narrative, “Mother Tongue”, by Amy Tan focuses on the variants in the universal English dialect which is based on one’s background. “Indian Education” by Sherman Alexies main purpose is to help readers understand the immense impact racism has on Native Americans. Each story had a different purpose but the common theme the essays shared was an educational setting.

I found the Steven Tyler voice box surgery and experiment very fascinating. It is amazing that our voice boxes can take that much pressure and strain. The blood vessels kind of explode and bleed until you have surgery to plug the blood vessel to stop the bleeding. Steven Tyler’s voice box takes a couple times more strain than mine because of how he changes his voice and tune. The fact that Steven Tyler can make himself use his voice for that much pressure and not feel the pain he is causing to himself. I believe that the adrenaline from getting up onto the stage in front of thousands of people let him do it without him realizing he is hurting. The point of showing us Tyler’s voice box was to prove how he has
