Generate a list of the ways in which you believe your responsibilities and the tasks you perform are likely to change because of the merger and your resulting new role. Hint: It may be helpful to make lists of what you imagine to be the circumstances before and after your appointment. For example, two obvious points of comparison involve number of employees (which implies many necessary tasks) and travel inherent in the job. See how long a list you are able to generate.

Also, address the following questions: 1. What does this split-department situation do to your efficiency as a manager, and how can you compensate for this change?
The split-department situation will have a huge effect on my efficiency as a manager. It will put my planning, delegation, and execution skills to the test. Both facilities need to be run smoothly as far as patient care, management, technology, and expenses go but because I won’t be able to monitor both places at once I will have to rely heavily on the staff I’m working with. Making sure everyone is competent and knows all aspects of the job is a must. I need to make sure me being absent from a location doesn’t cause a melt down with either company. 2. On what specific management skill should the newly appointed split-department manager be concentrating?
With being appointed as a split-department manager I think my conceptual skills would be what I concentrated on the most. Being able to visualize the big picture, understanding how everyone contributes and coordinates their efforts is so important, having the whole picture will aid with the logistics of the department.
3. What other major issues do you see impacting your management role, and authority?
Think about change management, employee
As mentioned above the unequal division of responsibility within department due to lack of job design also results in a bad coordination within the organization. Examples of instance referred to in the case of Duplox would be the interdependence between the TSS and FSM teams; the sales department and the TSS’s, where the sales team don’t put much weight on the argument by the TSS’s that improper installation can cause higher repair and service cost. This not only creates discontentment between department but also affects the bonuses the Directors and managers gain based on the TSS’s productivity which is either met or exceed the past year. High- involvement managerial strategy the supervisor no longer would be the primary controller and evaluator instead would be the facilitator. They would help remove barriers to adequate performance and provide resources and assistance to subordinates to perform efficiently and allow decisions to be made at the lowest possible levels in the organization. The overall leadership style is participative or democratic in nature.
After some time, Max discloses that he has been involved in multiple sexual relationships and says he “can get in any woman’s pants.” He also brags that he is smarter than anyone in the group, regardless of the fact that one person has a PhD in
While working for the department, it became very apparent that the practices and management style of the Department Director significantly affected the culture and daily activities of the individual sections under his leadership. First, he would set objectives and standards for the individual sections. These objectives usually looked good on paper but were often unrealistic when applied to daily operations. These lofty ideals, set as goals to middle management, seemed overwhelming and out of touch with the reality of hands on field operations. As a result, middle management would frequently choose to either change or completely disregard the given directives. This disconnect in the chain of command would often cause confusion and inconsistencies at the operations level. Additionally, lack of follow-up meant the Department Director assumed his set objectives were being carried out while lower level employees remained uninformed.

In the case example “Falsely Accused, A mother fights back”, Brenda Frank was accused of not only neglecting her 2 daughters but sexual abuse as well. Mrs. Frank was on welfare and separated from her husband. Mrs. Frank’s belief that children wean themselves from breast feeding, called the La Leche Philosophy, is part of what started the whole mess. That and the fact that since she was a single mother she let her daughters sleep with her.
In order to identify the functional areas for improvement would require some kind of survey that would be sent to the patients after discharge from the hospital. Yet, another way would be having someone speak directly with the patients admitted or awaiting services to understand how they feel and their perception of care. A

This would also indicate that HCA receives a lower rating. This could prove to be good and bad. In some instances, companies with lower ratings experience a rise in their cost of debt or loss access to the debt market. When Du Pont lost their AAA rating they did not experience any dramatic changes. With the growth rate at 15%, HCA has an opportunity to increase in the future. An ROE of 17.6% signifies efficiency and provides evidence that the company is heading in the right direction.
1. Prepare a brief situational analysis of LMF for Dr. Townsend, identifying at least 3 internal issues and 3 external issue/competitive issues that are affecting LMF.
The first tool that I would find the most useful in a future management job would be, organizational structure. I would use this tool to help myself to organize who reports to who when it is needed and who does what and organize it so I know also where it is being done a lso. The second tool that I would use would be standardization, I would use standardization to solve any problems I might come across by applying the same rules, procedures, and processes to have a fair work environment. The third tool that I would utilize is, letting people work as a team. I would do this so that they could come together and accomplish more together than they would on their own. The fourth tool I would use is, both internal and external recruiting. I
