There can be positive factors that can help out the person such as increased help, aids for support and a good support team could give them a brighter outlook on life. Organizations might help the Deaf and Blind with many different aspects of their life to support or to helping them find the right kind of support.

After being taught three chapters of psychology I have encountered a wide range of information that has interested me, but perception has definitely interested me the most. It has interested me the most because ever since I was a kid I wondered why things closer to the car seemed to be moving faster than objects in the distance. Perception is the body's abilities to sense or detect something through its senses. We use perception everyday as it plays a large role in human life due to the fact that almost everything we encounter can be detected by our five senses.

There are six senses in total and these are known as languages of the mind, or ‘modalities’. These are Sight, hearing, feeling, smell and taste, although the last two can be put into the ‘feeling’ category. We use all of our senses in a particular situation but all of us will have a favourite which we are more comfortable with and are likely to fall back on in times of crisis. (Chrysalis pg. 4)

Without having one of the five senses, can turn your whole life around. Treasure them all. Each function provokes every step you take in life. Outside stimuli can be received by the five senses which are sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Sight is very important to everyday life. Light waves off an object is what lets us see. The brain connects the light wave to memories or what it might be associated with, which then allows us to precept what the object is. This process happens so fast, you never see it coming. The stimuli you get from seeing is the colors the make an object and projects feelings. Sound is precious.

Talking, listening & reading are all things we do in everyday life, we rely on our senses to understand and process what is going on around us and to carry out our everyday living skills, so to lose any of these will have a massive impact.

For example, we could look down a street and not see anyone and think it is safe to walk down that street, but someone could be behind a tree or other object. It would be very difficult having to adjust to a world without sound. The sounds that’s warn us, such as horns, alarms and bells, for example, are very important in our everyday lives. These type of sounds gives people a heads up, like it is a train blowing its horn to warn drivers that a train is approaching the crossing. Also, tornado sirens alerts people to give them crucial time to evacuate and get to safety. Being able to hear these sounds are very important because they keep you safe and out of harm’s way. Another reason why, out of the five senses, taste would be the one I would be able to give up so easily is because unlike taste, the sense of touch is extremely important. Could you imagine coming home, from a long and stressful day, and not be embraced by something or someone you love? Without the sense of touch, you could not feel the warmth of that embrace. Touch is essential to our lives because, just like hearing, it warns us if something is to hot or too cold.
