Urbanisation is caused by people inhabiting the cities and towns moving away from rural areas. This can be a problem because it causes Overcrowding, waste accumulation, transport systems.
According to Meriam Webster, Urban sprawl means “the spreading of urban developments (such as houses and shopping centers) on undeveloped land near a city”. It is a result of industrial development in the process of modernization. Industrial production and operation need a specific division of labor and areas of land to build plants. Thus, more places are turned from farmland or natural areas to concrete buildings and pavement. People have long debated the advantages and disadvantages of urbanization.
Humans have evolved immensely throughout centuries and the trend toward urbanization is a worldwide phenomenon that impacts the environment, economy and various aspects of human life. In America before the 18th century, manufacturing was done by hand using homemade tools and basic machinery, the industrialization of America led to an increase of immigration and an influx of people drawn to cities where new economic opportunities were available. “Urbanization is the process by which town and cities are formed and become larger as more people begin living and working in central areas”. It occurs casually from individual and corporate efforts to reduce expense in commuting and transportation. The level and growth of urbanization differs by region

From an environmental standpoint nuclear power plants are extremely clean when it comes to electrical power generation. However, there are a lot of ways where nuclear power plants can go wrong. Improperly functioning a nuclear power plant can create problematic situations. Take the Chernobyl disaster for instance, because of their poorly designed nuclear power plant it released tons of radioactivity which scattered across the atmosphere. This resulted in everyone leaving the city. Another recent incident was in Fukushima (Japan), a tsunami hit the nuclear power plants which caused the tins to break and release radioactivity as well. Still to this day there is radioactive dust scattered all over the ground. Moreover, mining and purifying uranium

For the past decades the trend of urbanization has rapidly increased, especially in developing countries. Urbanization may be defined as a process in which people from rural areas are migrating to the city. The sudden increase of the population in cities has brought significant problems to their inhabitants, the environment and resources. These problems are providing housing with basic facilities and public transport, mitigating the effect of pollution which is detrimental to the environment and people, and sustaining its development and resources. Sustainable development is defined in the Brundtland Report in Our Common Future as ‘development

From the start of urbanization the belief in many nations all throughout history has been that cities are where the prosperity of the nation is held. But is this really a valid argument or does that simply referring to a select few? The urban population has grown rapidly since 1950 form 746 million to 3.9 billion people as of 2014. Many of these number exist in North America with 82% of the population living in cities, Europe with 73%, and Latin America with 80%. Asia and Africa on the other hand are far behind having only 40 – 48% of population living in urban areas. It is said by the World Bank that “Africa is witnessing an unprecedented projected population growth of more than 40,000 new urban inhabitants per day between now and 2040” (Voice of America). Although for some countries population growth as large as this can be a good thing but in regards to many developing countries that have cities with a lack of a strong infrastructure, a weak economic hold, lack of a sustainable government, and a poor quality of life, the population influx could cause a major issue in the progress of development and therefore make urbanization a highly negative thing if these issues are not properly addressed.
Urbanization can be defined as a rapid shift in population of a group living in a specific area. This typically happens when the society decides that it is more advantageous to settle, rather than migrate. Throughout ancient history, we have seen various groups of civilization to adept different forms of urbanization near river valleys. These cities include the regions near Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Indus valley. Even though their lifestyle might have revolved the valley as a main source of development, their cultures and beliefs differed greatly from each other.

However, nowadays, the key aspect is the universal nature of such, issue t has an effect on an exceptional transformation on a global scale causing a drastic impact on the social, economic, cultural and political patterns.
Cities today are constantly escalating in terms of number and size. As India is moving on the path of rapid and massive urbanisation, urban centres are also growing at a faster pace. Through my claims-making activity, I was given the opportunity to partake in a project concerning one of the most pressing social problems facing our society: sexual assault and domestic abuse. As a part of my behavioral claim, I chose to volunteer with the nationwide organization RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network); however, due to certain inconveniences I was not able to complete the training. In the following paragraph, I will explain the volunteering application process, and my solution towards the roadblock that came with not being able to volunteer with RAINN.
