How do you cope when in just a few short months you go from being regular everyday eighteen year old girls to being reality tv stars? L.A candy by Lauren Conrad is about two girls named Jane and Scarlett. They move from their small town in Santa Barbara to Los Angeles. One night well blowing off some steam at a club they meet a producer named Travis. Travis offers them a chance of a lifetime by offering to recruit them for his new reality show, but if they say yes will they still be the same people? In this journal I will be questioning, evaluating and visualizing. My first question is how Jane and Scarlett live together? Because Jane is so quiet and shy and Scarlett is outgoing, funny and convivial. Maybe because they balance eachother out. Like Jane's so quiet and Scarlet is so sociable. Therefore they just balance. Also why does Jane go out with Jesse when it's obvious she want Braedon? My first guess is because Jesse is a movie star and who doesn't want a movie star boyfriend. Or maybe because she mentioned to Gabby when Gabby asked if she met someone “I met one guy, but I think he has a girlfriend” (Conrad 121). It also could be that she want to show Braedon what's he's missing by dating Braedon's best friend. Last but not least at the end Jane goes with Gabby to Mexico what will happen when she comes …show more content…
I feel that way because Jane is so childish. Especially dating Jesse when she knows that Braedon is his best friend. I also really like Madison but really dislike Gabby. I like Madison because she's gets along with everyone and is very friendly. All Gabby does is harass Madison and try to sabotage Scarlett and Jane. I liked how the show was about the girls everyday normal lives. I hated how Travis made they do stuff they didn't want to. For example when Scarlett showed Gabby and Madison around U.S.C and Travis said “ Can your be nice to M an G” (Conrad 280). I felt that Scarlett is an adult she can do what she

Have you ever heard that too much television can ruin a child’s mind? Malcolm Gladwell proposes in his article, “Brain Candy,” that playing video games or watching television is just as important as reading a book. Gladwell is using rhetorical appeals to prove that in fact, video games are not dumbing down society. Pop culture is helping to improve test scores and knowledge. In “Brain Candy,” Malcolm Gladwell does affectively use rhetorical appeals to convince his audience that pop culture is making our society smarter.
The board game I have chosen to center my paper around is Candyland. This child`s game was played quite a lot in my childhood years and therefore has a profound impact on my board game experience in general. Even though it has been quite a while since playing it, I still have strikingly strong memories of parts of the game. Based mainly on pure chance and card draws, it is just as likely for a child to win as an adult. As such me and my brother mainly played it with each other in younger days.
When she learned that he was previously married and still a married man, she knew she couldn’t go through with the marriage. All Jane ever wanted was to be loved and its one thing that was always absent from her life. When she came to Thornfield she was loved and cared for and she finally felt as if she truly belonged somewhere. But with this feeling of belonging also came the feeling of losing herself and that loss of independence she built up. She wasn’t willing to sacrifice her integrity to become a mistress.

Regarding Mandy, many things need to happen during her treatment approach. One, as the psychologist, it is very important that we use the correct terminology of substance use and substance user, rather than abuser. This will set us up for a more positive, compassionate, and successful treatment. It is very important too, to be aware of why this disorder occurs, so then we can properly treat it. Going through Mandy’s intake it is very evident that this disorder runs within her family. This could mean that biologically she has a genetic predisposition. She also never completed school, and is unemployed which fits under the socio-cultural view, of how people who live in poverty are more likely to be exposed to drugs and be users. We
Trinity is especially dangerous for Jerry when he just says "No"… to selling chocolates for the school. Seriously. His "No!" gets him in trouble with The Vigils, an underground student group that controls the other kids at school with mafia-style tactics. Jerry's stand against selling chocolate also gets him trouble with Brother Leon, the Voldemort-esque schoolmaster.

Candy corn is a controversial “delicacy” that either delights the taste buds or appalls them. To enjoy such a treat requires an acquired palate, which is why so many people cannot tolerate its distinct flavor. Then again, most people aren’t refined enough to even try the candy because they have yet to mature in senses. Surprisingly, you would think candy corn is only a Halloween favorite, yet here I am in the middle of November with a bag full of them.
It is immeasurably important for teenagers to see someone, especially a notable public figure and childhood role model, who can relate on some level. It can set someone on a completely different trajectory to witness that their situation can get better. There are abundant resources, healthy outlets and people to help. Simply by telling her own story, Demi Lovato humanizes these conditions and spreads the message that no one is alone. Getting to where she is now was a fight fueled by resistance, temptation and outrage. She eventually understood that to change she had to “lean into the people that are trying to support [her]” (28:55). The documentary leaves viewers’ heartstrings echoing and as they feel a little more familiar with the powerful voice behind the hit song on the
