On Monday, 15th April 1912, the RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg near Newfoundland at
11:40 pm and sank approximately two and a half hours later because of the severe damage the iceberg caused.
The world’s biggest ship was only five days into her maiden voyage from Southampton to
New York when the disastrous catastrophe took place. From the 2200 passengers, only 600 of them are estimated to have survived the tragedy. When the Cunard liner RMS Caparthia arrived two hours later the greatest ship known to men had vanished completely. What they saw shocked them to the core: There was chaos all around. People were freezing to death, already dead people were floating on the water. The people in the lifeboats were crying, screaming and trying

It was horrible!” said a member of the Caparthia’s crew.
“There were children drowning and mothers crying for help.”
As of today, the investigations are still ongoing, nevertheless, experts believe that many safety precautions hadn´t been taken properly. One of the more serious safety problems was the lack of lifeboats on board. The way the ship was designed did not allow enough space for the amount of lifeboats that would have been required to save every single passenger.
As a result, the first class passengers were granted a seat in a lifeboat primarily. A lot of the third and second-class passengers, however, didn’t even survive their way out of their cabins.
One of the few second-class survivors was Mary Donahugh: “I thought I was going to die.
The water in the cabins rose higher and higher and it felt like millions of tiny needles piercing through my skin.” She lost her husband and her two children that night.
The sinking of Titanic will always be one of the biggest disasters on sea the world has ever seen. Hopefully, new technologies will continue to shed a light on further puzzle pieces of what happened that night. Only time will tell, how a ship, that was built to be unsinkable, found its way to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in a tragedy that claimed the life of over

The second crew included Horace Hunley and Charles Sprague. On October 15th, 1863 the crew set out for some test runs around a friendly ship, the Indian Chief. The first test run was successful, but on the second one something immediately looked wrong. As soon as the Hunley sank, air bubbles arose. This time there were no survivors. Less than two months after sinking, the Hunley had gone down again.

The article Into the Dark Water by Lauren Tarshis is about when the most massive, high in technology, indestructible ship sunk. The Titanic of course. Also when passenger and survivor Jack Thayer shared his journey, through his writing with author Lauren Tarshis. It makes the article more intriguing to use quotes because it makes you feel as if you are on the ship on that night.
impact and suffered many burns. Before the sinking, the ship had poor ventilation which means
If there was any other room left (which there couldn't be) the men could go leave. The calls came from all around shouting "Women and children on the emergency row boats." That really startled the people on the ship. They wanted to know why they had to go on the emergency boats if the ship was unsinkable. But if they had to... they would.

Reading over the brilliant work of Michael Walzer’s “What does it mean to be an American” I have discovered that the identity of Americans is that of a “melting pot.” We , as Americans, promote an abundance of cultures that are interconnected to make our country the amazing place it is today. Walzer believes in the diversity of America, he realizes that America’s cultural diversity is part of what makes us the best country in the world.

1ST QUESTION: The questions is why? Why is it the Titanic that everyone remembers? There have been far worse disasters than the Titanic, such as the tsunami that devastated Japan in 2011, or the earthquakes in Haiti. So why is the Titanic
Three days later, after they set sail all of the passengers felt a rumble and heard a loud crash. First she heard people scream, then laughing. Mary, ruth and Helen ran out of their cabins and went to Captain Edward J. Smith. “What happened?! They asked. “Oh it’s
