You are inviting your whole family over for a Thanksgiving Feast to show just how much you appreciate them. You have decided that they have worked hard all year and have always made dinner for you, so why not return the favor? You will need to do some research to plan your Thanksgiving feast.
First, create a guest list. Who will you be inviting (grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends)?
Look up recipes that you would like to use for your recipe. In every recipe, there should be a “serving size.” That is supposed to be the number of people that the recipe will be able to feed. You may want to look up a variety of recipes for different types of food that you would like to serve your family. Be sure to make enough so that each
The Pathman Lewis Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 12PM. I’ve added this event to everyone’s respective calendar.
list of guests who are to attend a party. It is because of this event
It is the same thing as the other cultures such Chinese food, Japanese food and more with their own culture beliefs. In addition, The Intervention of the American Meal by Abigail Carroll gives an example of the American’s cultural tradition, Thanksgiving meal, as “their purpose is to enjoy this harvest meal together and, it being a time of war, to celebrate the country’s heritage of prosperity and freedom.” (pg.77). Thanksgiving is such a big part of American’s lives because it has been passed down from generation to generation as a day everybody gathers to have a meal together. This brings to the reason why dinner is so special compared to the other mealtime.
As the holiday season is coming nearer each day, I found it appropriate to look further into the traditional Thanksgiving topic. I can only describe what my family does, my Puerto Rican and Caucasian family. As far as I can say, we are not necessarily traditional with our celebration of Thanksgiving. So I figured why not use this assignment as a way to further look into the holiday and how it is celebrated across America, this can mean anything from families celebrating it in their homes, to the retail shops of the country selling holiday/seasonal items to go along with the tradition. I would like to examine the traditions of thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving weekend is a time for family. My sister just moved into the house she just built. My sisters and a few of her really close cousins came over for appetizers and desserts.

Thanksgiving break is just around the corner and I can’t wait to be with my family for the holiday. My family and cousins are all coming into town, so it should be a great Thanksgiving Day. There is nothing like being with your whole family cracking jokes at each other and eating delicious food. I enjoy cooking
(Even the “ex’s” and the people who are not quite in the picture anymore.) As we gather around the table we share things we are thankful for. Whether we are thankful for the sweet banana pudding waiting for us after supper, or whether it is something heart felt, we always come together and share things as a family. But most importantly, we share food. Each separate family brings something they cooked and my aunt sets it out as a buffet line along her kitchen counters and we join hands and say the blessing, and start fixing our plates. Us ladies get to go first. As I make my way around the counter tops each year, I fill my plate with tender turkey and juicy ham, potato casserole, green beans, macaroni and cheese, rolls, corn on the cob, and other things
As a second quarter event, a Thanksgiving party was planned and executed, in which a third grade class participated. The party consisted of four stations, which students attended for twenty minutes each. While some parts of the party went well and others did not, the event proved to be an overall success.
On the fourth Thursday of every November, families gather together to spend a day filled with food and laughter. Thanksgiving celebrates the day the settlers and the Native Americans enjoyed their first meal together. However, my parents were both raised in Mexico and never had a typical yearly Thanksgiving celebration. Despite my parents home being Mexico, they started a family in America and decided to teach their children about both of the places they come from. A compromise between American and Mexican traditions formed and served as a family tradition until last year. A year ago, my family ate a Thanksgiving meal at my sister's parent-in-laws house.
I believe that the menu is where your success will be ensured. Take your time and consider all your guests. Be sure to be aware if someone is allergic to a specific meat or spice. Also, you probably know what your family's traditions are, so plan accordingly. If your family's tradition includes turkey and ham, try to keep to tradition as tradition makes everything go smoother. You can also add side dishes to enhance the meal and try to start new traditions.
Every year for me, we head to my aunt's house on my mom's side at 2 o’clock where all the food is homemade. Soon after that we go to my grandma on my dad's side were the food is a little bit worse. Other people often have Thanksgiving held at their house. The whole family comes to their house for Thanksgiving. I thought everyone had two Thanksgiving like me!
According to the principal of utility I would write off the cost of the surgery. Paola states that, "actions are right in proportion to their tendency to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness" (Paola, Walker, & Nixon, 2010, p. 27). By providing the surgery it would provide happiness and pleasure to all involved. The patient would experience happiness and pleasure through the reduction of pain and relief that there was no financial burden to the family. I would enjoy the intrinsic pleasure of being able to assist another individual who might otherwise be in a state of constant suffering.
I have discovered that people don’t share the same Thanksgiving traditions as me. Chicken, Duck, Turkey, and Turdunkin are all enjoyed as main course meals! Vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls, cookies, ice cream, lemon pie, and blueberry pie bars are also enjoyed on Thanksgiving. Cookies, assorted pies, and blueberry pie bars are commonly enjoyed, and they actually sound pretty tasty! The favorite part of some people’s Thanksgiving feast would be the pie and rolls. Meals aren’t always eaten with family at the table. Some families sit on the couch, while they watch tv, or they eat at a fancy restaurant. Everyone has their own customs when it comes to the holidays.
The first thing my family and I think about is who we are going to invite. We consider if thanksgiving this year will be a simple close family get together or loud aunts and uncles kind of gathering. We acknowledge what we did last year and choose the opposite to switch it up. The messages and emails are sent as soon as the invite list has been created. Replies from our family must be given as soon as possible only to make the preparations a little easier even though, we all know it will be hard anyway. Once we get all our responses in we can now move on to our next step.
