Almost like 100 and I have never caught a hockey puck,” He says. Over Exaggerating a little but. I relipe to him “ I wasn't even trying to get catch it. It just just feel in my lap”. I say with a cheerful voice. I turn to my cousin Caitlin but she does not make eye contact with me. Her head is turned at a 180 degree angle where I can see her face. I get closer and look at her face. Tears flowing from her eyes to her cheeks and running off her face. Her face a light red. “Are you okay?” I ask her. She replies with a nodd. I knew something was not alright. By her body language. I ask her
It was one gloomy night, no cars were out, and the only lights on were the hockey rink lights. It was getting ready to downpour and thunder started to rumble. The Tinkles hit the ice and began their warm ups. Just like any other warmup they would skate around the arena and after a little bit they would take some shots on their goalie. After time after time waiting for their opponent. A huge burst of lightning hit the rink and the power went out. Soon after, the rink started to shake and the ice split open. The lights turn on and they found their opponent.
“I’m fine!” they rushed out, forcing their eyes to meet with his. It almost stung. “I really am fine.”
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine." I assured her as a bend to whisper in her ear. I pray my words of comfort are correct.
The Americans kept playing to the buzzer, and Mark Johnson was able to put a goal past the unexpecting Soviets with one second remaining in the period. The only goal in the second period would be scored by the Soviets, giving them a three to two lead into the final period of play. In the third period, Johnson scored again to tie the game at three. With ten minutes left in the game, Mike Eruzione scored the go-ahead goal for the Americans, making the score four to three. With solid play in net by goaltender Jim Craig, the Americans were able to keep the Soviets from tying the game in the remaining minutes (“MIRACLE ON ICE”). In the final seconds of the game, TV broadcaster Al Michaels asked the people of the United States, “Do you believe in miracles?” The American hockey just did the seemingly impossible; they defeated the most dominant nation in the sport. Two days after the game that would later be called the Miracle on Ice, the United States defeated Finland four to two to capture the 1980 Olympic gold medal (Gorman 1287).
"Are you okay?" He questioned, his voice was filled with compassion towards me and I smiled from where I lay.
It was the middle of the second period I was losing pretty bad so I gave up. I thought to myself I'm not gonna win so I gave up. But with my little bit of energy I had I tried to stand up. I tried with little effort which was the worst mistake of the match. All of a sudden I look up and I seen the black sky. Then I came back down with tremendous force. The force of gravity took me down directly on my head. I was really startled and confused.I hear from the opponent's side ooooo and I was still
"I was 8-years-old when the U. S. won gold at the 1980 Olympics,” NHL veteran Steve Konowalchuk told ESPN. “I remember watching the games and celebrating each victory. I worked very hard on my game as a result, hoping to one day be a part of something as special as winning an Olympic gold medal."
In this instance, my mother was hearing my words in a contextual form, so when I said, “I’m fine.”, she heard me saying that I was okay and nothing was wrong. If she had realized that I was communicating with her relationally, she could have been able to tell by the tone of my voice and my non-verbal communications that I was not really “fine”.
“I- i think i'm fine , it’s not that big of a deal “ i reply trying to sound as normal as possible .
My conscious rang in my head constantly saying, “How can everything go wrong on one of the most important days of my hockey career. Everytime something bad happens, it always has to happen to me. “
“I don’t know,” I told her. It was an easy way out, a way to not have any more worries pile up. She shot me a look, that I unfortunately

I have been playing ice hockey since I was seven years old. By the age of ten, I was committed to the sport, I was willing to do anything to make it to the top. Back when I was eight years old, I suffered a severe concussion and thought I was going to be out of hockey for at least a year. As a way of getting back on the ice quicker, I changed positions and became a goalie. My nine year old season was my first time to experience being a goaltender. I took to the position very well and really enjoyed my new role. The next season, I was good enough to be offered a position as the goalie for a local travel team. I immediately loved the intensity of the higher level competition and traveling to tournaments. I was hooked and could not get enough. As my friends were playing lots of sports, trying to figure out what they were good at, there was no hesitation in me; I was an ice hockey goaltender.
