There are many benefits that would stem from the building of local dog parks, exercise for your pet and allowing them time to socialize being only a couple of those benefits. Spending more time outdoors with your dog, providing exercise for not only your pet but for yourself as well. The building of a dog park provides your dog with more than enough space for them to run around and be free for a bit. A dog park would benefit a wide range of people, making themselves and their pets happy. However, some of us aren't as excited about the the building of a dog park. This would be paid for by all of us taxpayers, including some who do not even own dogs. A dog park would bring more people; traffic, as well as noise levels, would both increase. Reports of noise near Reston, Virginia and Chandelier, Arizona prove this fact. That being said, there are still 62% of Americans who aren't looking for a dog park at all. A rough estimate for the fence alone would cost up to $70,000 for the fence alone. All of this money would come from the taxpayers, that would be the same as me trying to get public catnip gardens built soley for the purpose of my cat.
The responisbility of ones pet should be just that; that owners responisibilty. In conclusion, yes, the building of a dog park has many benefit, yet there would be just as many negative effects on the community. I urge you to weigh the ups and downs and use your better judgement when it comes to the matter of building a dog park. A dog park would benefit a dogs overall health, both mental and physical, by providing adequate exercise. However, there is still a chance that an attack could occur.
