Every country has a sport that they find most interesting. Due to the nationwide involvement, this sport will result in a great amount of revenue, and a common form of entertainment. In America, it is evident that this sport is football. No other sport pulls in the same amount of revenue, media and nationwide attention than football does. It is popular in all age groups, and is the staple of sporting events to attend while students are in high school and college. Football is the greatest sport in America because of the business it has created, and the national draw that has developed from it.
Football, ever since it began, has had the constant question of should it be banned. Footballs origins began back in ancient Greece where even then it was known as a very rough and brutal game. When football came to England it was thought to be so rough that kings Henry II and Henry IV both actually banned it. A lot has changed since those times in history. We now have equipment for the game and every year the equipment keeps evolving into a more safety conscious design for the player. Rules for the game also keep changing throughout the years with the player’s safety in mind as well. Because of these changes, it has
Even though concussions are a major issue in the sport and causes students not to be able to do some of the curriculum in school. Football should be allowed at a high school level. Students do better in school so they can stay eligible to play in the sport. It also teaches valuable life skills. High school football has been in families and towns for years, even though the sport is under attack because it is slowly fading.
American Football is a huge spectator sport where offensive and defensive players will use teamwork and perseverance to try and score more points than their opponent. Football is highly respected in America, where boys will try and pursue the dream of playing in the NFL (National Football Association) someday; but if you look at an average neighborhood, you will find that kids and adults of all ages love to go out and throw around the pigskin. (Lerner and Lerner 275). One thing Americans will take pride in is the college and NFL football teams they root for. People sit down with a beer and talk hours upon hours of football and two individuals can get in a heated discussion in the local sports store of whose sports team is better.
Football; America’s most watched sport. Whether it is youth, high school, college, or pro, people are always watching, playing, or thinking about football. According to Michael Lewis, author and writer for New York Times
Even though football is not the safest sport, that does not mean it is too dangerous to ever play again. The game of football is an intense sport { even if you're a kicker ] but I do not think it should be banned . Banning football is like Prohibition , you will upset a lot of people and some will go crazy . There are plenty of sports that don't get banned like baseball . In baseball you could get hit with a pitch , get a bat flung at you , and get in a bench clearing brawl but no one makes a case about that . Football is a game I love to watch and play . People that do think football should be banned make good case about like long term illness such as CTE or ALS and could physically disable you . The reason you shouldn't ban football is that the game can teach young men { or women } life skills such as teamwork or trust and I believe every young man should play some form of football whether it's touch football , tackle football , or just throwing a ball around with your friends . Though some people can't play football because there parents won't let them or have a health issue but in my opinion everybody should be open to playing or watching football . Plenty of people hate football because it's too stressful but playing and watching football has taught me one thing about stress : Your stressed watching a game and you're not stressed playing in one .
[Transition: Football is America’s most popular sport. Some 2.5 million kids play the game. College football brings in more than 3 billion a year; the NFL rakes in more than 9 billion (Shotz).]
Throughout the Middle East soccer is a very prominent, male-dominated sport. Soccer is used by many people as an escape from their real world, and gives them a few hours where they can leave their differences aside and come together as a nation to celebrate their team. Soccer, however, is also very popular in the political realm of the Middle East as it is used by politicians and government leaders to their advantage in countries like Egypt and Turkey. However, not all countries allow or invite soccer into their borders. Countries like Saudi Arabia believe that soccer is practiced as a religion and should be banned because it causes a divide in the Muslim faith. Throughout the Middle East, soccer plays a key factor in their politics as politicians
In the U.S soccer or football hasn't caught on quite just yet. Even though the American people have had recent success like in the 2002 World Cup and the 2009 Confederations Cup. Though extremely popular in European countries, soccer took a long time to gain momentum in the United States because Americans put more money and attention into other sports like baseball, football, and basketball. Soccer eventually became popular in the 1970s, but then lost popularity again when the National League went bankrupt.
Football is a rough sport. Many fans of the game watch it for the hard hits. These hard hits and the potential for injury is part of what makes the game so exciting. Some people say that football is too brutal and should be banned. Parents all over the United States don’t allow their children to play because of the risk of head injuries. Others allow their sons, and every now and then their daughters, to play and risk injury for a chance to earn a college scholarship and for a small percentage of players, the chance to play in the National Football League (NFL).
High school sport injuries have become such a common incident. Precautions are not taken as
Football is a reward. If people are going to take what we love, things aren't going to go too well. People love football why take what Americans love? I can understand why people don't want their kids playing football… For some reason, serious concussions or maybe even permanent brain damage. But just because some parents don't want their kids playing football doesn't mean they have to take football from everyone.
The game of football is being attacked. We see it every day in the headlines and on the news. The medical concerns are obvious. The game has taken more than its share of criticism. Even President Barack Obama said that if he had boys he wouldn’t let them play football. LeBron James publicly said no football in his house. So the question is asked all the time, Why would anyone want to play football? And why would anyone let their kids play? Here’s my answer. I believe there’s practically no other place where a boy is held to a higher standard then football. Football is hard, it’s tough, it demands discipline, it teaches obedience, it builds character. Football is a metaphor for life.
Dedication from fans is also a factor that makes a sport more or less popular. In the US, football is one of the most popular sports in the country. On
First, Football is like a traditions for these three reason. To begin with, more than 2.5 million kids still play football because they really enjoy it and want to keep playing even if they know that it can be a dangerous sport to play. Second, knowing that there are more than 2.5 million kids still playing football and they know its dangerous they also play it because it's very popular and those are just the kids that play it there is also a lot of people that watch it at home and really enjoy it and
