Dehydration is a condition that happens when the loss of body fluids, mostly water is more than the amount of fluid taken in. We lose water every day through thru breath we exhale, sweat, urine. When we lose too much water, our bodies become out of balance, or dehydrated. Severe dehydration can lead to death.
There are many causes of dehydration in adults, too much exercise, injuries to the skin, such as burns or mouth sores. Water is lost thru damaged skin such as skin diseases or infections. Symptoms of dehydration can range from minor to severe. They can include: increased thirst, dry mouth, palpitations, fainting, no sweating, decrease in urination. Urine color can be an indication of dehydration. Dark urine is concentrated and a sign you could be dehydrated.
At this point it may be best to be examined by your doctor. A doctor can do a variety of tests. Through these tests he may be able to determine what the cause of your dehydration could be. Taking the pulse and blood pressure while the person is lying down, and then after standing up for a minute can help determine the degree of dehydration. In schools around the country there are kids who are involved in sports, but lack the amount of fluids your body needs to function properly. The reason why this happens is due to dehydration. People in sports get pushed so hard and hardly ever get the chance to run to the water fountain to get a drink of water. Dehydration causes people to faint, vomit, and produces a fever because of the lack of fluids in their body.
