Exercise is something that many individuals often overlook, avoid, or even consider physical activities their nemesis. Many people usually denigrate exercise by saying it is too demanding on the body, or are afraid of injuries, but in reality, working out can prevent various cancer and heart disease. In the article “How Much Exercise Do I Really Need?”, Dr. Jordan Metzi explains how everyone should obtain 150 minutes of exercise per week to stay fit. These 150 minutes should be spread out throughout the week to prevent any injuries or overuse of the muscles. There are obvious benefits that many people consider when thinking about exercise, such as weight management, strengthening bones and muscles, as well as reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease; however, there are other advantages that are not as obvious which can positively impact overall health. Some of these advantages include decreasing depression, preventing metabolic disorders and some cancers, improving memory, and decreasing stress. It can sometimes be a struggle for people to exercise on a daily basis due to time constraints, prior engagements, or work, but by dedicating some time every week to getting in some form of exercise, the benefits of exercise can be achieved. In order to improve my quality of life I want to be able to schedule more time to exercise. I already eat a healthy a diet. By scheduling time to exercise I would be able to into the habit of exercise more often. I do not go to a gym because of some the equipment at home. So, far I only exercise between 3 to 4 days a week but I am trying to extend to more days during the week.
