“Success, is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” (Pele) Pele is known for making the bicycle kick famous. Some her his name and think the best soccer player the world has ever seen. From the outside, his life couldn’t be any more perfect, but life doesn't always start out that way. Pele's childhood was difficult and full of hardships, but his hard work and perseverance led to many achievements. Pele didn't have an ideal childhood. He was born on October 23, 1940, in Três Corações, Brazil. The arrival of electricity in Três Corações caused his mother to name him Edson, after Thomas Edison. As a young boy, his family moved to the town of Bauru. There, teachers saw him as a troublemaker and punished him. A couple of teachers made him kneel on a pile of beans as a form of discipline. This was the first of many hardships he would have to face. …show more content…
As he got older, his teachers noticed he became less of a troublemaker. He had found love for fútbol. Even though his family couldn't afford to buy a soccer ball, because of deep poverty, he still found ways to play. Rolling up old, worn-out socks and stuffing them with newspapers made the perfect ball. Playing whenever he got the chance. One day, while playing, he ruined the only pair of shoes he had (they belonged to his aunt's bosses child). After the shoes were ruined, he started hanging out with other kids instead of studying or participating in soccer. In one of those hideouts, a hole in the ground, a sinkhole formed and a boy drowned inside (Pele 16). From then on out, he carried the guilt of the boy's death with him and the knowledge that the child could have been
Norma is someone who cares about what is going on back home when she is not around. The quote, “She would drive a hundred miles round-trip to visit tribal elders in the nursing homes in Spokane.” (pg 67) shows that she went out of her away to go back home to spend time with the people of her tribe. And because it is obvious that she cares for the reservation, my group created a status update of her resharing the nursing home’s post about someone dying and her writing about how she travelling home to visit the nursing home and saying something nice for the man that died.
Wood started playing soccer at age 5, and has kept that drive and love of the game for 12 long years. “I was better at it than any other sports, so I stuck with it,” Jaden laughed when asked what kept him playing soccer all of those years. “I like competition. I like how it makes me feel: accomplished. It’s a place where I can let go of my frustrations.”
It did not matter if it rained or if it was sunny Carlos was out there every day at the park practicing to get better. His teammates would see how hard he would work but still they would say harsh words to him. Carlos remembers the method of his brother to ignore his teammates. Carlos coach saw how Carlos would practice with his team then with a personal trainer, he was impressed how Carlos was improving. Carlos would motivate himself everyday like saying to himself to not give up it was a pain in the butt practicing everyday, but at the end it's going to be worth it. He would always come home tried an would go to his back yard to kick a ball to get better every day. He always had to motivate himself to get something he wanted or needed he would not just say positive words for himself but he would always be confident on himself. There was a time when he had a soccer game he was playing so well that a scouter saw him play when the game was over the scouter talk to him if he wanted to play with Chivas de Guadalajara. He so excited to hear this news, but he knew that his parent would not let him because it to far and also they had to move to Mexico for him to play. Chivas de Guadalajara was his dream
Before I go too far into details, I should tell you his story. The story takes place in a small village surrounded by trees. The kids attend school until their sixteen, so they can start working. During recess the kids play fútbol, but not all of them were good.

Edson Arantes de Nascimento (otherwise known as Pele), was born into a family in poverty in Brazil on September 23, 1940. The reason I chose to do Pele is because he is a great inspiration because of everything he has done in his life. His father was a soccer player. Pele’s first soccer ball was a sock full rags and he and his friends would boot it around all day. He dropped out of school in the 4th grade because the school master had caught him playing soccer during the school day.
From the minute I started kicking in my mother’s stomach my father made it his mission to teach me soccer. Three year old me would be kicking soccer balls like my life depended on it. Later in life at age 8 I started playing on teams. We went from being the worst in the league to champions twice in a row. Being champions can really get in someone’s head, and suddenly you think your skills are superior to those of people around you.
At the age of 5 I was given my first pair of Velcro-cleats. Back then; it wasn’t about getting an All-Conference Title, or wining a full scholarship to the school of your dreams. It was simply about having fun. By the age of 12, I was being developed and shaped into a player that would have a successful future with soccer, and would hopefully receive scholarships. But, that future for me crumbled by the time I was 16. I don’t know what happened over those 4 years, but I simply lost the joy in playing. It became more of an obligation to go to
She had finally found the cleats that fit her and she started to kick the ball around the house. While she was kicking the ball, the ball kicked the coffee table and broke a vase that was sitting on it. Along with that, she tore up the rug with the cleats on. Then she heard a rip.. When she went to run back so she could strike the ball, the sole of the right cleat had torn out. After that, she just decided soccer wasn’t for her. She was going to go and play games on the phone, but she decided she was really tired so she decided she needed a
Secondly, everyone thought that playing soccer wasn't Leo's passion, for that reason Leo himself had to be his biggest motivator in other for him to pursue his passion. However, Leo's soccer life has never been a stroll through the park, he when through some rough times of people doubting him and saying that he couldn't do it. Imagine you were so poor you played soccer barefoot, on the streets and with a ball made of socks and rocks. Imagine at age fifteen your life changes completely into the dream of even the richest people of Brazil. Imagine you go from being in a trash soccer team to being the best soccer player in the world will ever see.
The poet, Boris Stoyanov, was born on May 11, 2001, in Nyack, New York. He comes from Bulgarian parents who came to America 2 months before he was born. Ever since he could remember, soccer was a major part of his life. It started in the backyard of his New York home, where his dad first kicked him a ball. When Boris was 7, he moved to Florida, when his passion really took off. And through all of it, his family supported him, which is shocking considering he’s broken 9 bones and 1 ACL while playing. To this day, he still plays. But if there was one important lesson his mom thought him, it was that he can’t succeed as a professional player and that education is more important than any sport. I learned this lesson when I was 10. Thanks
His encouragement was his grandmother and his father always told his to kick a soccer ball around. Here’s a quote from Messi “But everything i did, i did for football , to achieve my dream. This mean that he played soccer to achieve his dream, and loved it because he wanted to see what is was capable of doing and seeing if he could accomplish his dreams. He started traveling at the age of 13 years old
Portugal's best and Manchester United's darling midfielder, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was brought into this world on February 5, 1985 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. His mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and father Jose Dinis Aveiro had four children. His parents decided to name this future famous footballer after someone that you wouldn't think a Portuguese family would normally consider. He was named after the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan.
The school required a test for admission, so the competition was getting fierce. The teachers focused a lot on our academics and tried to squeeze as much time as they can from us to study. As the result, we were not allowed to play soccer during our free time because it hinders us from studying. Maybe it is human tendency to break laws, but the gang of us didn’t want to conform to that rule so sneaking a soccer ball to school and keep it away from the teachers became an everyday challenge. It was amazing the kind of ideas we came up with for this task. Soccer added spices into my otherwise boring school life, and it served as a channel between me and my fellow classmates. Through soccer we found a common ground, that we were able to know each other more and support each other no matter what happens. It gave us a sense of unity, and it was very important to me. Even now I cherish the pact I had with them back then - the support that helped me to stay on the right track during my rebel teenage years.
