Obama went to high school at Punahou Academy. While in school, he played basketball and was academically very achieved. He graduated from Punahou Academy in 1979 with honors.
When he was in high school, being one of the very few black students, he began to feel racially conscious.
After graduating high school, he went to Occidental College, LA, where he studied for 2 years before getting transferred to Columbia University in New York.
He graduated from Columbia in 1983 with a political science degree.
Obama worked in the business sector years before moving to Chicago in 1985.
In Chicago, he worked for the welfare of the under privileged and the low income residents as a community organizer.
