Context, in general, is important. Without context, words are twisted, actions are misunderstood, and insights are lost. However, as individual people, it is harder to determine what context matters. How important are intentions? How important are motives? From the outside looking in, these internal concepts may be critical information, but ultimately, intentions and motives will not change the consequences. In judging yourself, it is the actions that matter. By redefining individuals as self-contained creations, context narrows to only your own actions, to only the factors you have control over. It is with this simplified worldview that we can learn to improve ourselves, love ourselves, and ultimately, live well. In order to recontextualize ourselves, we must first be a completed whole. As comforting a thought as it is that soulmates exist, that somewhere out there is your other half, this ideology limits progress. If we are waiting for our missing piece, then we do not have full autonomy over ourselves; we are dependent on the contributions of another. This wastes precious time and makes it impossible for critical judgement. A painting is not assessed when it is incomplete; without the full picture, a canvas is still just cotton, wood, and paint, days away from being declared art. In the book On the Nature of the Universe, Lucretius describes men as fruitless seekers, traveling the world for something greater, an imagined happiness, when all he needs is at home, in his
Soul theory argues that what makes a person who they are is not their physical presence, however, it is a person’s soul that differentiates them from an other living being (Perry, pp 3). The soul is one’s consciousness, their mind, allowing them to be present, experience and make decisions (Weisberg, January 2016). One’s personal identity is directly linked to one’s soul, if one has the same soul they are the same person (Perry, pp 4).
At the same time, we have a need for positive self-regard - to develop a sense of trust in the accuracy and reliability of our own inner experienced, it is on this we must depend if we are to become independent from and able to make good decisions about life and how we are to be in it.
Throughout this course, we have explored both ancient and contemporary worldviews that have helped us answer the question: “What is the Self”? Apuleius had a very different approach to formulate an answer to this question then did other contemporary authors which will both be discussed in length.
Since the beginning of time, the environment in which one is accustomed to provides them with the choices that lead down paths that make their legacy. This environment can be negative or positive, structured or chaotic, rich or poor, all which give a variety of choices. Regardless of the different trials and tribulations we face ultimately, it is the choices we make in response that make us the person we become.
Everything begins with oneself, one must create an identity that helps to benefit their surrounding and themselves as making the right decisions can affect the outcome of the universe. “All that you touch, You Change. All that you Change, Changes you. The only lasting truth is Change. God is Change” (Butler 79, Sower).
life: seeing the world in relationship to oneself alone, versus viewing the world as an aggregate.

Studying the Constructive Development Theory (CDT) also provided a foundation to identify where I fit on the spectrum of adult development. Constructive developmental theory is an eye opening explanation of how people make meaning at different stages of consciousness. This theory identifies numerous areas of human development that an individual may be “subject to” or “hold object.” Each phase of development designates twelve specific factors that humans will use to make meaning from. Analyzing how a person’s meaning making or pinpointing the factors they are “subject to” or “hold object,” helps us to define an individual’s Order of Mind. Jennifer Garvey Berger (1999) explains in her guide, Key Concepts for Understanding the Work of Robert Kegan, that “things that are Subject are by definition experienced as unquestioned, simply part of self” (p. 2). For me, this concept revealed that I was subject to my behavior and attitude regarding my personal time management. I considered my lack of

The question of when is it justified to disclose patient confidentiality depends on the risks associated. Keeping of patients’ records remains important to any clinical officer. The CMA code of ethics advices the keeping of patient’s personal health information private and can only be released to the third party as outlined by law (Fowler, 2008). The true definition of intention is not very clear, as there are different definitions by different courts. The term ‘intention’ in criminal law has been defined as direct intention whereby a consequence is intended and desired by the defendant, and indirect (oblique) intentionwhereby the defendant can foresee a virtual certainty. Many seriouscrimes require the proof of intention or recklessness on the part of defendant, and in criminal proceedings, the court or jury must decide whether the accused has the intention or the ability to foresee the result of his actions by reference to all circumstances of the case. Thus, ‘intention’ can be classified as particular, general and
