“World War 1: Remembering the War to End All Wars”
“Live for something rather than die for nothing” said Patterson. World War One started in 1914 and ended in 1918. The end of the war has impacted my life in so many ways and the biggest impact for me was my family had been torn apart little by little and maybe even more. The war has impacted my life by tearing up families, and getting women the right to vote and letting women do jobs that men also do.
I'm thirteen years old. I live in Glade Spring, VA. My father and brother were in WW1. Me and my mother had to take care of the farm when they went off into war. It was very difficult but now the war has ended. The parade and men coming off the boats was all real. Me and my mother were standing in the big crowd waiting to see my dad and brother but they were nowhere to be found.

Out of nowhere someone came behind me and squeezed me and picked me up. It was my brother. Me and my brother have a really great bond. He isn't like every older mean brother. He watches out for me and i love him so much. He’s like a best friend but even better. BUB! I hugged him. He let me down and hugged my mother. “Where is your father” asked mom. John looked at her and his face went pale.”He didn’t make it” he said.
Dad was gone. I don't know how me and mom are going to get over the fact that he is dead. I'm starting to cheer up but that's just because of John. “The farm looks really good” said John. Thanks, me and mom worked really hard to keep it up and going while you all were gone. It was hard.” Mom is taking his death very hard” he said. “Yeah she is, Bub i miss dad alot” I said.” Look at me, you need to stay strong, your are the only one holding us all together right now Mary.”he said. I cried on his shoulder for a good long while until mom called for supper and we raced to the
Almost a century has passed but Australia still identifies strongly with the Anzac legend' that emerged during the First World War. Entering the war as a small outpost of the British Empire, no one would have anticipated the courage and tenacity displayed by the Australian troops or the extent to which their war efforts would become the foundation of our national identity.
After four years of brutal combat, the first world war had come to an end in 1918. The
More than 18 million people died in World War 1, 11 million of those were military personnels and about 7 million being civilians. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary on June 28, 1914 is seen as the main start of World War 1. World War 1 substantially impacted American society, particularly women, African Americans, and the 1st Amendment A major effect of World War 1 was that women became more independent.
World War I was a global war based in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. The Australian Imperial Force (AIF) had great involvement in the war, serving as part of the British Empire. In Australia, or the ‘Australian home front’ the war had major impact, in many aspects of the Australian society. Conscription was a social impact of WWI, ‘The Enemy Within’ was a social impact of WWI and women were a social impact of WWI.
With war, there comes changes. Some changes are good, while others are bad. World War 1, also known as The ‘Great War’, changed America. Beginning in 1914 and ending in 1918, America witnessed much devastation. Many lives were lost, some countries faced a massive destruction of property and horrible economic depression.
World War I, also called First World War or the Great War, was the first global conflict that lasted from 1914 to 1918. Some of the people who suffered the most on WW1 were the soldiers and people who lived in the Home Front. Soldiers didn’t live a normal life, they lived in horrible conditions. It was dirty, that’s why there were many animals like rats, frogs, insects etc., that eat the soldier’s food and contaminated it, by eating contaminated food soldiers got sick that’s was one of the main reasons why soldiers died.
World War began in 1914 and ended in 1918. World War 1 affected American society because America constantly feared the outcomes of the war and the results of migration.
There were multiple reasons that led to World War 1. This affected the US in many ways. One thing that led to World War 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, done by a Serbian terrorist. This upset Austria-Hungary and this is why they wanted to go to war with Serbia. Because of friendship between them and their allies, their partnerships went to join war with them. One way that World War 1 impacted the US was through the Great Migration.
a very fair system because you were not forced to join up. So in 1916
War One, a huge conflict that sparked in 1914 and lasting all the way until 1918. The war was between the world’s greatest powers as two opposing sides; the Central Powers and the Allies. It was a chain of events that had started this was which consist of key features such as imperialism, alliances, growth of militarism, crisis, and nationalism. It was the result of these accumulating factors that had eventually evoked war. The effects on World War One included over 8 million deaths, higher taxes, rationing of food, and etc.
Suddenly, a man approaches me and questions, “Are you lost? Do you have a family?” I can tell he is utterly literate. He looks clean in a blue dress shirt and brown pants. “Yes, sir. I lost my mother,” I claim. I try to hold back my tears but I just can't. He asks, “When’s the last time you saw your mother?” I say, “About five minutes ago. She was asking a woman for directions and I walked away thinking she would still be there. This is my entire fault; I- I never should have walked away in the first place.” He opens his arms for a hug. I can’t help it. He is a stranger, but I
World War One was an immensely pivotal event on how the rest of the 20th century would turn out. What started off in Europe in July of 1914 became a global war that went brutally for more than 4 years and came to an end in November of 1918. From this war came not only the negatives, like the death of mass amounts of soldiers and civilians, but many positives came to be as well. A new lifestyle for many was put into play after the war and a whole new outlook on life was seen by everyone across the globe. Very large changes in the world were made in consequence to the war including territory changes in Europe, women in the workforce, and new technological advancements.
This war has changed the life of thousands of soldiers. It has changed mine forever. The US troops placed an army full of young men in an environment that was completely strange to them, and the enemy could be hiding anywhere and everywhere. Being in this war has changed me, as man I no longer have a sense of morality
This war was suppose to change everything it was a big thing for a thirteen year old my dad keep saying that this is the best thing that ever happened to America. I really did not think that it would bother me or change my lifestyle. I figured that that we lived in New York that our economy was great but dad said it could be better. I know that before the war we was very poor and during the war we barely had any money mother and I was the also but know we can live comfortably and not have to worry money as much. Mom has also got a job after the war so that bring in extra money and, some of my friends mom's got a job when at the beginning of the was most of the moms would stay at the house and do housework. At my school there has been a lot
World War I was rising Nazi feeling across Europe, colonial and economic rivalries, which contributed to growing international tension. The main spark that started World War I was the assassination of the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in June 1914. The heart of the conflict were the Central Powers, Germany and Austria-Hungary, and the Allied Powers, Britain, France, and Russia; Italy joined later in 1915, and then United States joined in 1917. World War I was the first war to be fought on land, at sea, and in the air. World War I brought more technological innovations than any conflict in history. Machine guns, battleships, land mines, barbed wire, engine-driven transport vehicles, and other
