The Crucible play, written by Arthur Miller in 1952 takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The play was based off the Salem Witch Trials in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The Crucible is about these three girls incriminated of practicing witchcraft. The girls were not practicing witchcraft; one of the girls was seen dancing which was not authorized for Puritan adolescents. When the girls were accused, they lied and in addition, they blamed the adults for conversing with the devil and the adults were found guilty and were later penalized. Today, not much has altered from the Salem Witch Trials. Teenagers still lie to keep themselves out of trouble or to do something forbidden.
