Tiger Woods once said, “golf is fluid”. It’s always changing. It’s always evolving, and it’s always changing. First of all, you never master it.” Golf is advancing every day. For a sport that was once made for purely entertainment, it has come a long way to now, with current professional tournaments and competitive gameplay. Golf has also advanced more than just in how it is played and by who, it has drastically changed in technology as well. This was where he would interlock his pointer finger of one hand and his pinky finger of the other hand while gripping and swinging the golf club. This has become so popular that it is still used by many amateur and professional golfers of this day. Outside of his many techniques he was extremely successful throughout his career, shown by his six Open Championships, forty-nine professional wins, and seven major Championships. Another major success that he accomplished in his lifetime was that he wrote two famous guides, “The Gist of Golf” and “The Complete Golfer”. When he reached the age of sixty-seven he passed away and left behind a major legacy in this world. Although golf has stayed the same for around the first three hundred years, many improvements have changed golf forever. In 1750, the first golf clubs began being made out of iron rather than wood. After a long one hundred twenty years, in 1870, the iron golf club head began to be mass produced making them more consistent and lighter than before. The major difference between the wood and iron golf head was that the wood head was a solid block and a lot heavier, whereas the iron golf head was much lighter and
a. Golf throughout history has, at its basics, started from men carrying sticks hitting balls on the ground and become a game with extreme depth, excitement, competition, and relaxation.
Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger Woods came to the scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the single fact, Tiger Woods played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just like myself, many people hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings were low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger Woods came on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The “Tiger Effect” on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get to that “Tiger” bench mark. He single handily brought golf to the limelight and made it interesting to watch this godly like figure tear up the greens while becoming an idol to young golfers around the world.

"That is what brings you back every time, the smell of the air, the coolness of the whether and the beautiful surroundings that make every shot enjoyable." Golf originated in Scotland but there's really no known year because there's always been sticks, holes in the ground, rocks, and boredom. The PGA was founded October 10th, 1916 and ever since then it's a common misconception that the word golf is an acronym for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden. However, this is far from the truth and the ladies got their own tour in 1950. Another well-known event in golf is the Masters which first took place in 1934. Famous

Golf is a one of a kind sport. No single course is the same as next one. Golf compared to other sports is like a science fair project. Every sport that is played other than golf is a constant variable so to say the field, the court, the track, or so on. With football, soccer, basketball, baseball or almost any other sport you know what to expect before you begin. However, golf on the other hand is an always changing variable within the usual four hour round when played. Golf courses are the most beautiful, enchanting, and awe-inspiring venues in all of sport (Shackelford 184).
It's a very rare thing to meet a golfer who doesn't want to improve on their game. In fact most golfers are willing to do almost anything, with the exception of magic rituals, to lower their handicap or improve their swing. Fortunately for members of the Promontory Club they can take advantage of 'The Golf Academy' here, a facility which has features tens of thousands of dollars of instructional technology to help make that happen. But 'The Golf Academy' at Promontory also has a secret weapon in the form of Tom F. Stickney II, one of the Top 100 golf teachers in the United States.
There is a lot of sports you can play throughout your life but I would have to say playing golf is the most challenging. Like in basketball you can practice your free throw shots multiple times and keep getting close to the hoop, which is the target, and get frustrated that it didn’t go in. But in golf you rarely ever get close to the target and when you do it’s like making a basket, you are super excited. It takes patients, and dedication to keep practicing.
The game of golf evolved from a similar game played in Scotland 600 years ago that involved sheep herders hitting pebbles with sticks that they found lying on the ground. Golf soon captivated the Scottish nobility and quickly spread throughout the United Kingdom and then the rest of Europe. Since then, golf has progressed from using crude sticks as clubs and playing on any open field to the innovative, aerodynamic golf clubs used today and well-manicured golf courses with artificial hazards ("A Brief History of Golf"). In order for a golf course to be profitable, it must be managed meticulously with constant attention given to effective marketing and proper maintenance.
Golf is a special sport because one is expected to spend 4-5 hours playing it; which is a very long time to be burning calories and engaging one’s brain. It's not like most sports out there where one plays intensively for an hour or two and responds actively to what's going on. Rather one has to change their concentration on and off for (typically) 86 times per round and at the same time carry out physical actions; which greatly depends upon how well one has gotten ready for it. To pick and take the best shot, one has to line up properly, choose the right club, check out the greens and so on and after that make a smooth swing and do this for 4-5 hours. This needs psychological sharpness and physical energy that one will not have if they have not prepared their body effectively.
