Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller uses symbolisms, contrasting characters and a flute motif, to show the struggle that an aging man faces, when he believes his legacy will not be remembered. Willy tries ever-so-desperately to capture this dream of being loved by all, that he loses the admiration and respect of his son. What he doesn’t comprehend is, people do not always amount to greatness, and he and his sons are not significant in the vastness of the world.
