Jenna, I agree that in order for parents to attend child development class, there must be incentives. parents are not going to like someone coming in their lives and telling them what to do even if that action is beneficial for them in the long term. However, if there are consequences assigned by not taking the class such as not getting government assistance, than the only people affected are the ones in poverty. Than this approach will effect the environment of the parent. Like it says in the book, if we affect the parent's environment than the child's development will also be affected.
Disability brings problems to schools too causing the child to be disadvantaged. These could include lack of specialist staff or poor staff knowledge which can lead to lack of socialisation and integration into the school.
Children's and young people's development is influenced by a range of external and personal factors in the following waysPhysical and cognitive impairment can be the result of problems such as foetal alcohol syndrome where a foetus has been exposed to alcohol in the womb. Also lack of nutrients, stress and pollutants such as cigarette smoke may contribute to the development of a child, and can even slow it down.
Those of you familiar with Playwork will be very aware of the following information.. if not please read!
Providing a comfortable, safe and well supervised environment is important to meet the requirements of each individual child’s sleep and rest. Educators should ensure children are safe, healthy and secure in their sleeping or rest environment. Environmental factors can impact on the rest and sleep for children within an early childhood setting, these can include the noise level of the room, the darkness of the room, the temperature and the comfort of bedding or rest area. Educators should try to minimise noise level and provide a calm and relaxing feeling to the environment to help children get the sleep or rest needed, this can be done by playing soft music during sleep or rest times. Reducing stimulation will help children to sleep or rest,
Well the environment is recognised in the EYFS. Enabling the environment recognises the key role that it plays in supporting and extending the children’s development and their initial learning.
Human development perspective examines the biological, psychological and social development of individuals pertaining to behavior (Hutchison, 2015). The ecological system is a theoretical perspective that examines the individual within the environment that it lives (Garbarino, 1992). There are five subsystems to consider when examining this the individual subject within this perspective; microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and chronosystem. According to Garbarino (1992) the ecological perspective tries to explain how the environment effects the development of the individual. The ecological perspective also explores the risks and opportunities in the social environment that affect the subject within each sub-systems (Garbarino, 1992). Risk can be described as any thing that threatens development of the individual, while opportunities support and assist in the development. This paper will review the effects of the environment on an individual by applying the ecological perspective to the life and experiences main character in the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
The external factors influencing a child’s development include their immediate environment, i.e. their family and their circumstances at home, their socioeconomic background and the education they receive from institutions or their family.
How are family structures defined? How many different family structures exist? This essay will take a deeper look into this topic and how varying family structures affect child development, social development, and academic achievement.
In a developmentally appropriate, well organized environment, children grow and learn. The teacher is responsible for creating a pleasing environment that reflects the needs and interests of the children. The classroom should be designed to promote self-help and independent behavior.
Nature indicate to the genetic personality and shift that affect child development (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2007). Mostly the characteristic exists nearly in everyone. For example, children learn how to walk, understand language, learning through imitating others, use simple tools, and knows how to make conclusions about what they see through others people. Every day children will be changing because they gain new knowledge and learning new skills. Parents play an important role in shaping their child’s personality.
In the other hand, behaviorists view language as complex and leaned skill, much like playing piano and dancing. B.F. Skinner argued that language represents nothing more than chains of responses acquired through reinforcement. Putting differently, children learn though process of reinforcement. For example, baby babbles “mama” the mother happily reward the baby with a hug and kisses and eventually will push the baby to say “mama” more and more; due to these reward children are motivated to repeat the behavior, thereby shaping their language and ensuring their development. Children’s language is being built up, this describe a way in which children environmental experiences influence and improve their language skills. Also that’s why parents
Personally I feel like, I was influence both nature and nurture. My parent had a huge impact in my childhood development. More or less nature plays role in my development as a young boy. Genetically my father is outdoor person, and I inherited and I have carried that genes influence with me. Even coming to different country and cold environment that hasn’t changed bit. Another genetically inherited is the “color of my skin, eye, and height”. I also believe lower temperament another factor that I gain biologically from my parents as well as grandparents.
Infant development is greatly influenced by the environment which the infant grows in. Some important environment factors are the economic circumstances, cultural values, family structure, etc. These types of environmental factors can shift how the infant develops, and if certain milestones are achieved earlier or later. The environment has more of an impact on the infant than people may think it does.
Bronfenbrenner’s (1977, 1979, 1989, 1993, 1994) ecological theory suggested that child (human) development occurs for the child within the context of various environments. These environments, or systems, are influenced from within and between other environments. The individuals within each system influence each other through various transactions that occur between them.
Parents are by far the most important influences in a child 's life. Their support plays a vital role at all levels of education. According to Vygotsky (1978) sociocultural theory, it states that learning is strongly determined by the social interactions, which take place in meaningful contexts (as cited by A Noi, 2012, p. 4). In this aspect, the family members and people in the child’s immediate environment, thus constitute an important social environment for the child’s learning and evolution. It has been noted that learning in the family or with family members is probably one of the most essential of all educational experiences of an individual. Since the parent is generally not equipped with pedagogical knowledge and skill to understand how to plan and maintain a curriculum,
