How Does Macbeth Have Integrity

Throughout Shakespeare’s career, he wrote three types of plays: tragedies, comedies, and histories. Macbeth was one of his greatest tragedies. In the tragedy Macbeth, countless characteristics are portrayed through the assorted characters throughout the play. The most potent feature expressed by any character would have to be integrity or the scantiness thereof. Integrity can be defined as being honest and trustworthy. Throughout Macbeth, Macbeth drastically makes changes in his character from having integrity to being deceitful. The drama, Macbeth, depicts the life of Macbeth, an ambitious Scottish soldier who is a complex and well-developed. While there are several other interesting characters in the play, Macbeth is by far the most interesting. He is a tragic hero who experiences a slow and painful mental decline. He ruined his own life due to his own greed for power, wealth, and respect. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a brave, loyal warrior. However, the situation presented by the three witches and influence from Lady Macbeth made him have dark and evil intentions. These characteristics shown through the way people speak to and of him. We first hear of Macbeth’s bravery on the battlefield when Captain says “But all’s too weak, / For brave Macbeth- well he deserves that name- / Disdaining fortune with his brandished steel” (I.ii.15-17). It shows how highly people think of Macbeth. Banquo also calls Macbeth his “noble partner”, revealing how much respect he holds for Macbeth (I.iii.55).
