Satisfactory Essays

Throughout the play we see John Proctor having protectiveness of his reputation and at the same time not so much. Firstly, Proctor sabotages his reputation, so that he discredits Abigail's character to save Elizabeth. In Act III Proctor says “How do you call Heaven! Whore! Whore!...Oh Francis, I wish you had some evil in you that you might know me! A man will not cast away his good name. You sure know that” (Miller). This demonstrates his bravery, he stood up to those with jurisdiction.
