Jesus’ death and resurrection redefined humanity by breaking the death grip of sin and allowing his believers to be heirs with him. Jesus says in John 8:34, “‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin’”. Since all has sinned and fallen short to the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and the wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23), humanity was destined to be enslaved to sin and die in it since the fall of man. It is impossible, in the past and the present, for a human to live without sin. And because God is fair, and the wages of sin is death, there had to be some sort of sacrifice for the sins of the world because if there was not, the whole earth would perish. As mentioned earlier, Jesus was the only man capable to live
God gave men the free will to elect their own salvation. There is no sin until it is actually committed. Sin was now considered a voluntary act. It also consists of a change of heart, which revived the concept of limited atonement. Christ did not die for only a select few predestined elect, but for whosoever will accept God’s offer of salvation. Personal commitment also involved an active and useful Christian life in which individual action brings the kingdom closer.
There is far reaching agreement among researchers today over a wide religious spectrum that the resurrection of Jesus is the focal point of Christianity, asserted by conventional believers in light of New Testament passages like 1 Corinthians 15:12-20. However, it is also declared by secular analytical intellectuals also. One of the major confrontational arguments facing Christian theology or apologetics is the resurrection of Jesus being a significant part; therefore, if the
According to the bible, Jesus Christ saved mankind by giving his own life as a ransom, paying the price for the sins of mankind and giving an opportunity for eternal life towards those who believe (1 Timothy 2:5-6, Romans 6:23, John
Jesus, when he was sacrificed was our first God's fist 'living sacrifice', now as his followers we must present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service. It's only what we are susposed to be doing anyway. If I can help someone out, “Sacrifice is Painful!” When jesus was on the cross it was not on a bed of ease, he had to go through so much pain for us because he bore the sin, sickness, depression, opression, disappointment... anything you can think of he bore it on the cross for you and I. So while you are fasting, praying, seeking God, denying your flesh and striving to enter into the kingdom of heaven, we realize that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. And having these promises, let us not forget, If we suffer (((WITH))) him, we shall reign with him. If we can but endure hardships, suffering for his sake, suffering with him as our king and ruler, if we can do this in life, we shall reign with him in
(Heb. 2.9) But while for a short time he was lower than them, “because of his humiliation, suffering and death”(Bruce, 75) he was honored and given glory for he accomplished his task, and took the mantle of death that was looming over mankind, and bore it all himself. It is through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross that we “…have been sanctified, are being sacrificed, and furthermore must diligently pursue sanctification…” (Witherington, 154). His glory of being the Son of God and the inheritance that he has, as well as the honor of fulfilling God’s plan for him is what makes
And what we did, and how many times we disobeyed the Lord. Jesus went to the Land of the Dead to save us from Death. 1 Peter 2:24 says “‘He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed’” He died saving us from Death and sin.
On this day Jesus said “ Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” In this verse it shows the people present and the people that read it that god and Jesus love them and would not want them to parish. This leads to the next subject of this a big part of people believing in the lord is the quote “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” In this quote it demonstrates the love for the people that Jesus tried to show everybody by going to the cross. The quote and the following through of the cross made a lot of people believe and converted a lot of people. There are many more reasons but this leads us into the conclusion. In conclusion Jesus had a very big impact on the world that still echoes through the ages and will continue to affect the world. Jesus teachings in love thy enemy and to prey still are there passed on through the bible and through preachers and through families and still is the figurehead of christianity. So if you ever wondered how big of an effect Jesus had on the world when he live on earth now you know just a portion of the impact he had there is still more to tell. I leave you with this question how much bigger of an impact than even what I said did Jesus have on the
As believers, we are constantly reminded that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. His death and his resurrection are fundamental to our Christian faith. Without his death, the relationship between God and His creation would have remained broken. Unfortunately, many believers do not take the time to consider the complex and deep meaning of Jesus’ death. If I have learned one concept throughout this class is that if I do not have a personal comprehension of Jesus’ death, I will never be saved. His death signifies salvation. It motivates us to imitate Jesus’ life as he was completely human and never sinned, yet he died on the cross in the cruelest way. Personally, Jesus’ death means love, reconciliation, redemption, and victory.
The main theme of the Bible for me according to my understanding is the following; God’s love for humanity is so great that he gave his son for our sins; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (NIV John 3:16). The Bible demonstrates Jesus willing sacrifice for us in order to make a pathway in which we can receive the gift of salvation and eternal life in which we can rejoice with the trinity of his existence in our forever home in heaven. “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (NIV John 14:6).
The pinnacle of Jesus’ worship on earth was the fateful day of ultimate obedience. As Abraham was challenged to kill his beloved Son Isaac as a demonstration of his love for God, so God the Father allowed His Son Jesus to be sacrificed as an offering. This was not, however, a demonstration of worship as much as a culmination of a plan to revolutionize worship. That moment on the cross allowed all sin (that which inhibits and prevents true worship) from history past present and future to be shouldered on the person of Jesus. He literally became a sacrifice of worship. The wrath of God was poured out on the sin of mankind in the body of Jesus. The physical pain, emotional turmoil, and spiritual affliction would no longer be placed upon sinners; Christ had officially taken over as the substitute.
Both Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead are equipollently paramount; they cannot be disunited from each other. Without Jesus’ death, we have no hope of God’s forgiveness; and without Jesus’ resurrection, we have no hope of aeonian life. Like the two wings of an airplane, both are essential!
If I was a person who did not have any prior knowledge with the biblical teachings on the death of Jesus Christ, it would be very difficult for me to draw the connection between the sins of humanity and death of Jesus. The film indicates that Jesus just died; not at any point in the movie does it specify or suggest the reason why Jesus died. If you’re making a film on the crucifixion of Jesus, I think it would make more sense to draw implications throughout the movie to show why Jesus decided to willfully give his life away for the sake of humanity. On the contrary, the bible makes it very clear that Jesus knew he would be crucified. Jesus Christ had forewarned his disciples at one point that he was going to be crucified and die.
He lived a completely sinless life, so he was able to take the sin from us and face God’s just condemnation concerning sin. God’s righteous anger is directed toward the sin, not the sinners. He still desires relationships with us, his children. He is able to save his creation by having Jesus fulfill the Old Testament as explained in the “Heaven and Earth Animation.” In the Old Testament animal sacrifices were required to create a clean space for God and humans to overlap, allowing human sin and ugliness to overlap with divine perfection and love. In the New Testament, “Jesus becomes the permanent sacrifice to wipe away all of the ugly on our side of the overlap.” He plays the role of bringing God and humans back together by taking sins away from sinners so that we appear perfect in God’s eyes as Jesus was. Since Jesus’ death was not final, he continues to be the sacrifice opposed to animals. He forever reigns over death and evil, offering to cleanse people so that they can reunite with God. All the evil will be gone when Jesus comes back to conquer it once and for
Jesus had to carry his own cross, that probably weighed two times his size, all the way up to wear the crucifixion was going to take place. Already beaten and bloody, they lay him down onto the cross shaped piece of wood and begin by nailing his hands and feet into it and standing the cross up into the air. What a brutal sight it must have been for God to see his only son tortured like this, but the good news is that he knew what his plan was for Jesus and for his people and he knew what was going to happen after all this was over. Jesus died hanging from that cross, washing all of our sin away and paying the ultimate sacrifice. After he died he was wrapped in a white cloth and placed into a tomb with a boulder sealing the door to the outside world. Three days after being placed in there, the people went to check up on the tomb to find that the boulder was pushed aside and the white cloth was folded neatly where Jesus was laying. The son of God, the Messiah, rose again from the dead to fulfill his mission so that we may have everlasting life in God’s kingdom. God’s plan for our life and through Jesus he teaches us that if we follow in God’s word and make him our most prized possession and ask for him to be in our hearts that we may to “escape the penalty that God will execute upon all who have broken His
When Jesus died on the cross he was giving up his life for other people's sins and demonstrating the love of God. When Jesus rose again he proved that it was possible to overcome death and live with God for all eternity. Christians were freed from the burden of original sin if they followed Jesus' teaching and example and believed in him as the Son of God. Jesus said, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies' - John 11:25-26.
