Many immigrants come to the United States seeking economic opportunities, as well as a better life for themselves as well as their families, and seek religious freedom. Immigrants have brought innovative ideas to positively improve the U.S. economy. Immigration has enriched our culture enhancing our impact on the world. Americans are blinded to all the positive influences immigrants have provided for their nation. Immigrants make a vast amount of the population in the United States. According to the American Progress Organization 43.3 million immigrants live in the United States. It also states that the population includes 20.7 million naturalized U.S. citizens, and 22.6 million non citizens. Statistics state that today women will outnumber men within the immigrant population. The immigrant population has quadrupled since the year 1965, and it is expected to reach 78 million by the year of 2065. Economy can be greatly influenced by immigrants, yet they are treated as inferior. Immigration has been supporting the growth of the economy in the United States. The American Progress Organization informs immigrants are entrepreneurs, job creators, taxpayers and consumers. Immigrants have helped improve the state’s Gross Domestic Product adding trillions. In the historical account Of Plymouth Plantation it mentions the first Thanksgiving, which was a tradition brought from the immigrants. In the section First Thanksgiving it states “They began to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fit up their houses … had all things good plenty”(Lines 400-403). As stated they gathered together all things plenty such as food and family as we today. Thanksgiving is a time where we gather as a family and give thanks, something that wouldn't even be possible if it wasn't for immigrants. Immigrants have heavily influenced our lives
