The mystery novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie displayed and array of methods of suspense. One of the many ways the author created suspense was by dropping hints about the future and the final outcome. For instance, “‘Watch and pray. The day of judgement is at hand ... From recumbent position, he looked up at Mr. Blore with immense dignity: ‘I’m talking to you, young man. The day of judgement is very close at hand’ … But there as it happens, he is wrong” (Christie 17). This evidence is a perfect example of suspense since the author hints that Mr. Blore will die soon and unexpectedly.
